Of the three books so far, this one kind of leveled out for a bit before speeding ahead again in the plot. There’s a lot of upheaval now, so things are very tumultuous for a good part of the book. Political ties and maneuvers start to complicate the plot and give it a GOT vibe. I’m not sure I fully get all of the implications of everything, or if the little details will even matter in future books, but I hope they do. I prefer reading books where Easter eggs and clues are sprinkled throughout the series. The books are getting better, so I’m definitely invested enough to keep going to see what will happen next.
Hunted by Majika’s, Amel, Leng, Roalcan and Ahlskibi have been thrown off course. They seek refuge on a secluded island to gather their bearings and figure out their next steps. Though Leng is still in terrible condition, Amel meets the Prince of Baojang, and he offers Amel help for her friend, in exchange for some information on his future bride. However, not all prince’s are as charming as they may seem – what could he be doing so far away from home and with out his fleet?
When Leng is well enough to ride, he insists that he must get Amel back into the rightful hands of a Dragon School teacher. Being that they lost most of their knot in battle, it would be considered improper for a full Dragon Rider to travel with an initiate. With Dragon School so far away and mostly empty (with just about everyone sent on different missions), he takes her to where one of the closest groups of students and Grandis are – the Ruby Isles.
Luckily, that’s exactly where Amel needs to go! She has to warn the Dominion of the plotted treachery and stop her friend Savette’s wedding before her intended uses her as a pawn to get his wicked way. Unfortunately, it’s seems like no matter how much Amel proves herself, people will continue to doubt her. Even her so called friends.
Leng pulls rank over Amel in a tactless effort to keep her safe. He makes her keep silent about everything and promises to handle it all himself, while Grandis Elfar agrees with his decision. At every chance she takes to expose the truth she gets shut down. But soon, everyone will realize that perhaps if they had just listened to Amel instead of doubting her, things could’ve ended very differently.
There’s a missing initiate, a war brewing, Majika’s and dragon riders scattered all over, a traitor in their group, and let’s not forget the hurt between Amel and her friends.
The Dark Prince is the third novella in Sarah K.L. Wilson’s Dragon School serial. This is a fast paced, YA fantasy short story.
The world building expands even more in this installment, and we get introduced to a few new characters, as well as better aquatinted with older ones. We spend some time in the Ruby Isles with one of the other knots of Dragon School Riders, after Amel’s group was basically destroyed.
I didnt enjoy this one as much as the first two, but that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it all – I did. I just felt like this installment was more of a build up for the upcoming novellas. It wasn’t quite a filler, as it did provide some important parts to the story, and chracter developments, but it just didn’t “wow” me. There is still a lot of suspense and action and mystery as the others, which I love. Its those elements that really grab on to you and keep you reading until the end.
There was a lot of “love” in this part, which gave it all a different feel. And I say it like that because: theres the drama of an arranged marriage between Savette and the Prince of Baojang, and of course, there’s the addition of Starie trying to come in between for her own terrible reasons (so, not exactly love, but “romantic” drama, I guess). I enjoyed that – it added to the story and gave us better insights into who those characters are. Then there’s the love between Amel and Roalcan – which melts my heart! I absolutely love their friendship and I really enjoy seeing it become stronger as the story progresses. But then.. there was this strange sort of romance – or hints of romantic feelings – between Amel and Lang. I didn’t enjoy that so much. Especially after how he treated her in this part! Yes, I could understand his reasoning, but even still, how he went about trying to keep her safe was just terrible – even more so considering how many times shes saved him . I’m hoping that if anything happens between them in that sense it’s not for a long while and after he’s proved himself. It seemed too early for anything like that to happen between them, and with the way he kept disregarding her, thinking he knew better was just annoying.
I’m very excited to see how Amel and her group will try to rescue Savette, prevent a war and figure out what to do with Starie.

Amel’s journey continues in this fast paced, action packed story. I loved reading as it all unfolded. The read is super fast and I look forward to seeing what happens next.
This is the third book in the Dragon School series and picks up right where book two left off. While we get answers to some things there are a many more questions that go unanswered . This book is action packed as well as filled with sarcastic humor that keeps you captivated.
Amel encounters the dark prince while Leng is feverish and unconscious. Will anyone believe her story?
Good tale but too shorr!
We pick up where we left off and Amel learns the repercussions of acting too slow. A war is brewing and the Dragon Riders mean to stop it. The best way to do that, you may ask? Offer up your High Castelan Dragon Rider, Savette as a bride. Obviously, there’s a problem. There’s an uprising against the current regime and one way to keep the uprising going, the Magickas have to offer up their own bride, Starie, another High Castelan, with loyalties to a different party. Can Amel, along with Leng and Raolcan save Savette in time? Or will she be too late? What role does the school play in this? The Dark Prince, friend or foe?
Wow, wow, WOW! To watch Amel, a young girl no one thinks too highly or see as a threat until it’s too late, grow and become strong is amazing. She is definitely coming into her own and only becomes stronger as her partnership with Raolcan strengthens. Raolcan is quite possibly my favorite character. He’s witty and charming… and being a dragon doesn’t hurt! I’m loving where this series is going!
After the Magikas attack her and the knot she was flying with Amel narrowly escapes with a feverish Leng. Having to land, on an island, because of a storm she meets The Dark Prince Raktaran . After arriving back to Dragon School Amel meets Savette again and she tells Amel that her father has gave her to the Prince to prevent war. During a party Savette is kidnapped will Amel be able to save her. we will see
