As a wolf shifter with razor-sharp senses, Jessa Lebron can perceive the slightest change in the air. And her lupine instincts go into overdrive right before her mother, who abandoned her years ago, returns to the pack bearing secrets that change everything.
The biggest secret of all: Jessa is dragon marked, a designation that places her in grave danger. The dragon marked are destined to … to resurrect the dragon king, a fearsome ancient warmonger. And they must be eliminated.
Soon Jessa is locked up in Vanguard, the notorious paranormal prison that houses criminal vampires, feys, and magic users. Thankfully, she’s not alone: Braxton Compass, her best friend and a dragon shifter, has her back. Jessa and Braxton must find a way to free themselves and the rest of the dragon marked. But can her pack mates help her stop the dragon king before his deadly return?

This book was the start to Jaymin Eve’s Supernatural Prison series. Jessa is a strong, likeable supernatural female lead with an interesting relationship with four supernatural brothers. Not a reverse-harem book (thank goodness, don’t really go for those), but a close. loving, pack situation. Lots of action, all the different supernatural beings you could wish for and a very good story. I enjoyed both this book and the series.
Jessa lives in the magically cloaked town of Stratford, Connecticut. She’s lived her life believing she was an alpha female wolf shifter. But when her mother returns to town with a sister in tow, Jessa begins to learn about the secrets that have been kept from her. She is dragon marked. And if anyone finds out, it is a death sentence.
There is a lot of information packed into Dragon Marked. So much information caused multiple instances of exposition that I could not retain. Jessa is extremely close to four brothers, the Compasses, but when they are introduced it is paragraph after paragraph of each one’s description. A similar occurrence happens when you are introduced to the council. And honestly, readers don’t need to know what each council member looks like right away because they do not immediately interact with Jessa. It would have been easier to see the descriptions spaced out a bit and worked in organically.
One of the major downfalls to Dragon Marked is how the characters behave. No one acts appropriately for their station or age. In the opening scene a teacher threatens Jessa. And then switches the class subject to ways shifters can die. The Compasses reciprocate by threatening the teacher, yet no one suffers repercussions. It sets the stage for constant tension between characters. Which I normally enjoy, but it was immature macho posturing throughout the entire book. And when Jessa tries to pull feminist views of not wanting to be lead by men, it’s awkward because Jessa and the Compasses act like their are thirteen instead of twenty something.
I will say that Jaymin Eve did a great job highlighting the relationships between Jessa and her sister Mischa. The awkwardness of first meeting, and then trying to form a family tie was spot on. They were slow to develop towards each other and I loved how they started siding with one another. However, this is not a series I will continue.
im hooked !!! i want more jessa and her best friends!!! who happened to be handsome, bad @ss, loyal and fierce protectors!!! especially Braxton!!! I think those two should hook up! #bestfriendsgoals
This is the second time I am reading this series, in prep for the final book. Somehow, I missed reviewing this gem the first time around!
This is one of those Urban Fantasy novels that draws you from the very first page. It weaves around the characters, drawing the plot in intricate detail while allowing the world to be discovered in bits and pieces as it goes. And that world is EXPANSIVE! The clues dropped give credence to the notion that this is a complex and complicated narrative, one that stretches literally across continents and envelopes multiple characters.
Of course, there is a hint of romance here, but in Book 1, it’s a side note, a temptation for things to come. Heads up, this is NOT an RH, though it really would have made a spectacular one.
Overall, this is a great UF that I recommend.
A quick review for you PNR fans! This is a complete series that you can dive in and FALL IN LOVE WITH! I found this on KU and binge read the main books in the series and then dove into the interconnected spinoffs. EPIC.
This is a multi PNR read that centers around the most epic alpha shifter female I have ever read. Again, this is in KU so dive on it. Tessa is blunt and strong and takes no crap from any of the guys in her life. This book you get introduced to the entire pack and fall in love with each of them.
Quick review. Epic plot. The best characters, and dialogue that legitimately has you laughing on the floor page after page when you aren’t steamed full fo angst of month e edge of your seat. Take your pick. It was everything.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I have to say, I’m now throughly hooked!!!
Absolutely loved the beginning of this series and yes I have already bought book 2 Dragon Mystics.
Loved Jessa and her attitude, she is a real woman and will not let anything get in between her and cake!! Even her four hunky best friends…..
Lots of twists and turns that you won’t see coming, this is definitely a page turner and one I could not put down.
Jessa Lebron is an Alpha Wolf Shifter that has lived her whole life in the town of Stratford with her father Jonathan. Stratford is a town made up of Supernaturals, where supe’s can be free to be themselves away from humans. It’s also a town that overlooks the Supernatural prison in the US region. Jessa loves her life, her wolf, food especially cake and her pack which includes a set of four sibling brothers. The Compasses each represented four of the five races. Braxton was a Shifter, Maximus was Vampire, Jacob was Fey and Tyson was a Magic user – wizard, quads were rare but these guys more so for each being of a different race of supe. Braxton Compass is her best friend, she closest to him then the other brothers. He’s the strongest and rarest shifter there is – a dragon. He is overall protective of Jessa that can be trying at times and set Jessa off.
When Jessa’s mother returns years later after abandoning her and her father, secrets are revealed. Ones that place her and her packs lives in danger. She’s dragon marked and has to keep herself concealed. A lot is happening in Stratford and Jessa will need all of her friends.
I honestly can not praise this book enough. From the get go it was addictive. Some new series it’s take a bit for the book to build up and get you excited and enjoyable, but not this one. From the moment Jessa’s head hits the desk you are laughing along and can’t wait to see where this book is going. I just loved this book, ABSOLUTELY loved it. I wanted more Braxton, he is just so perfect in every way possible. The chemistry between Braxton and Jessa is there and i can’t wait to see if Jaymin is going to let us explore another relationship besides friendship for them. You can seriously feel the heat through the pages from them. The only thing I can say I want for book 2 is I need MORE Braxton!
Here’s a little something that had me laughing so much, hope you enjoy it.
Jacob took away the plates and was back in moments with a tray of desserts. I had my knife and fork in my hands, prepared to use them if necessary. The chocolate cake and ice cream were mine.
It felt like the world held its breath just before the tray hit the wooden table, and then it was on. I dived across Braxton, kicking Maximus in the face. Jacob had jumped back. He had the least sweet tooth of any of us. The fight was pretty fair right up until the point when Tyson’s eyes glowed gold.
I leveled a finger in his direction.
“Don’t do it, Tyson Compass.”
Apparently, I wasn’t scary enough because the tray levitated high into the air.
He changed his tune, of course, as Braxton and Maximus recovered from my surprise attack and also fixed their gazes on him.
“Oh shit,” Tyson said. Although he didn’t really look worried.
his book definitely caught me off guard. It was a really good book. So you follow Jessa and her four best friends who happen to be hot males. The obstacles that Jessa encounters are crazy, but you can’t help but love her alphaness, determination. This was a great read. It was intense and I just had to keep reading to see how it ended, needless to say I have to get the next book to see what happens. Can’t wait!!
I enjoyed it. The author did an amazing job world building and creating an infrastructure that continues throughout the series.
Great easy read, wanted to try something new. Love the characters and the spit fire character Jesse! who so far is a wolf and a dragon mix. So cool! just started book three and so far it’s a nice read!
Loved it. A must read!!!

Jessa lives in a special area for sups and her best friends are the quad boys. They are all expected to be the next council members in 3 years when they all turn 25. Her mother returns home with a sister in tow, she hates her mother for leaving her father and now she finds out she has a sister. Things go from bad to worse when the quads are charged with murder. Very strong characters, a good plot with new villains added through the story.
This book was fantastic. I was feeling pretty book slump-ish (even though I just got a bunch of top notch books), but this book knocked me out of my book slump. It was fun, light hearted, had a great cast of characters, romance, and great world building.
I received a copy from NetGalley and I actually liked it so much that I bought the audiobook after so I could listen to it too. I recommend it to any fans of NA paranormal books.
