Meet Brooklyn Bryer. Your average seventeen-year-old. Except she’s not and far from it.Her parents are on the prestigious Dragon Council. And Brooklyn is about to follow in their footsteps. But first, Brooklyn must pack up her life as she knows it and be thrown into a new school for young Dragon Slayers such as herself. This prequel can be read before or after book one, Dragon Slayers.
A quick, fun read but needs a little attention to really reach its potential. I loved the premise of modern NYC with its whole hidden layer of paranormal action, slayers and dragons. Noelle was adorable and bubbly and I enjoyed each of the guys distinctly different personalities. I did have trouble connecting with Brooklyn and felt the characters in general were two-dimensional and underdeveloped. I’d have liked the writing to focus more on character development and emotional details rather than benign ones such as clothing designs and signs of status. While I can usually overlook the occasional typo, there were enough that they became a distraction at times. Overall, the story holds promise and left me wanting more.
First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
OMG!!! I love this story. I so can’t wait to read the next story in this group. Brooklyn is smart & such a strong young woman. Her BFF, Noelle, is so bubbly & fun. Now add three, not one or even two, hot guys & Brooklyn’s life gets crazy. Each one of these guys is something she needs. Manny, who’s calm & caring, Bronx, who’s wild & flirt, and Staten, who’s serious & strong. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Emotional, thrilling, action packed adventure filled with danger, magic, teenage dilemmas and secrets. A quick yet very entertaining and intriguing beginning for this series.. hangs on a cliff.
Brooklyn is an interesting charter, dragon slayer royalty with a lot to live up to, she is reserved and a bit of a loner. The guys are fun, charming and each has a very different personality making all of them a exciting team in more ways than one. Overall a very enjoyable beginning and I look forward to reading more.
A magical read!
A powerful magical heroine…
A mystery that’s dying to be solved…
And four smoking hot dragon shifters…
The writing and story is great but, at times, I felt the story was lacking – it was missing something. I cannot explain it but I felt that it was lacking – it was an enjoyable read that made me smile at times but it is not like how the author normally writes her books – it was different and the style that she uses in her other series was missing (which was disappointing).
Great world building. Loved getting to know this magical world and the characters.
After that ending, I would love to see what happens next in the heroine’s journey even though that ending was disappointing – it was not executed well.
Full of dragons, dragon slayers, magic, secrets, attraction, suspense, action and romance.
Perfect for readers of urban fantasy/paranormal reverse harem romances.
Book one in the new Slayers & Protectors series. I have to say that I liked this book but it could have been better. The world building was slow making me feel like I kept missing something but once it got there I was getting into it just as the book ended. There is a great premise of a world that has dragons and a group that is trained to take them out at all costs. No one ever questions this until our main character does of course. This is definitely a slow build RH book that will probably rock once things all get settled but for now it reads just a little rough. Good for those that wish to try a RH book without all the nitty gritty. I liked it so I give it 3/5 stars.
