No half dragon will have a mate, but two halves does not a soul make. As a half-vampire, Marcus already knew he didn’t have a soulmate. And he thought he’d made his peace with that. Until he met Zara and decided to push through the walls around her heart.- Dragon Heart is part of the Dragon Soul series and is Marcus & Zara’s complete story.
Three And A Half Stars, But Let Me Explain…
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Half Soul by Laura Greenwood and Arizona Tape is the second book in a trilogy. I honestly did not realize this when I undertook this read. I did not read the first book and just could not get past feeling lost every time references were made to things that happened in the first book. I usually LOVE Laura Greenwood reads and while I did finish this read, I did not have that usual satisfied feeling I normally experience with a Laura Greenwood read. I would highly recommend reading this series in the written order to get the most out of the series. With that said, I did find that the underlying message of how people bully those who they consider different to be highly relevant. Marcus and Zara are wonderful characters that bring this message home. This book does lead into the third book of this series, so there is no conclusive HEA to this story… yet.

Halflings don’t get treated well in this world, so our hero and heroine have both faced a lot of discrimination. But by sticking up for each other, they find they have a chance to find their own path.
This is book two in the series. It works pretty well as a standalone, but there are references to things past which might make it complicated to start here. Tough call.
This is a paranormal romance story which shares a setting with some of the author’s prior works. The story is very well written and new readers will pick up the essential of the setting pretty quickly. The characters are well developed, unique and quite fun to read (when they are not depressed from dealing with bullying). That being said, I really liked their individual personalities, particularly the way they came together and helped each other. Overall, I rather enjoyed this story and look forward to more in the series.
Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The romance between the leading characters was not what they ever expected and their shared injustices bring them closer. I love how the author treats a couple of our society’s big issues – discrimination and bullying of those who are different. I think it’s really an important issue and to see it brought up and talked about in a fictional book makes it more real. The characters are so well developed and “real” that it is easy to relate to them. I love this series and Laura Greenwood is one of my favorite authors!

This story made me laugh. Marcus was hysterically funny with both his inner and spoken monologues and conversations. The story was complete unto itself but made a lot of references to another series, although most of them lead to a funny jokes or inner scenes. It was a quick and funny read that kept me entertained as Marcus and Zara were outright crazy yet perfect for each other.
This is book two of the Dragon Soul series and is about a half vampire and half dragon finding love after years of thinking they would never find their mates. A well written, well paced story with likable characters that are well developed. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
This book focuses on two people whose half-breed status has made them feel “less than” all their lives. They are treated differently by others as if they are somehow not worthy because they are a bit different. Marcus is half-vampire and Zara is half-dragon and both have been convinced there is no “other half” to complete their souls. They have been treated as if they don’t matter. So attending Marcus’ friends’ celebration is a magical moment for both him and Zara. Meeting Zara feels so right to him. She agrees to date him and he has hope that she feels what he is feeling. But her father interferes with his own expectations. Will the two of them be separated? Will she be forced to accept someone else to complete her HEA?
I love this author’s stories. The message buried inside always gives the reader something to ponder. The story line is good, well-paced, and the characters are likable, their experiences relatable to some readers (not in marrying dragons or vampires, but the more mundane stuff like bullying). Grab your copy and share in their experience to see if they can rise above what others demand of them and live life as they are destined to do.
Half Soul by Laura Greenwood is an awesome story to read. This is book number two in this awesome series that I have loved reading and can not wait to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about vampires, dragon shifters, fantasy and paranormal romance.

This was a good book that highlights the discrimination and bullying of those that happen to be different from the perceived norm with the lesson being presented to us mixed in with the humor of Marcus and his awareness that his acceptance of himself and who he really is gives him the power to rise above the cruelty being shown to him and all of the other halflings. It was the character of Marcus that made this book shine. Zara had a much harder time navigating the social occasion simply because she kept trying to blend in instead of embracing her uniqueness. A little bit more backstory that would have given the reader an insight into all of the different characters would have been very helpful but other than that this was a delightful book and I am hoping there will be a continuation of the storyline that will explain some residual questions.

Marcus, a half vampire, was always told he didn’t have a soulmate. Then he met Zara, a half dragon. The story was interesting and had engaging characters.

I rooted for Marcus and Zara especially because this story deals with discrimination and bullying among the paranormal beings. They found the other half of their souls with each other. However, I did have a hard time actually getting into the story. I don’t know if it was the writing duo or if the thoughts were in sync but some things weren’t coherent. I would have enjoyed it more if it made more sense.

I enjoyed every turn of the pages. The characters are well developed and engaging making for a smooth flowing storyline. With plenty of chemistry throughout the pages.

I enjoyed the storyline but I just couldn’t get behind Marc. I found his mental ramblings rather immature and the pace of the book rather choppy.
I have read a lot by this author and really enjoyed them but this one wasn’t the best

Half Soul was not an easy book to read. It felt a bit disjointed and did not engage me easily. Marcus kept referring to events in the past with Tate and Arya that the reader has no reference to, which made it seem that the storyline was incomplete. The characters were difficult to get into as well.
The story does speak to how society treats and judges those who are different badly. Bullying becomes an issue, as does discrimination. The halflings are the brunt of mistreatment that impacts the way that they see themselves. However, you see Marcus, who is half-vampire and half-human, deal with halfling status much better than Zara, who is half dragon, because of the love and support he received, while Zara’s family seems to see her as a burden. Also, she learned to accept herself, so Zara tries to make herself fit in and became stuck on trying to be perfect. Of course, she was never good enough as those she wanted to accept her always found something else to judge about her. These two find love and acceptance with one another.
Marcus does have a great sense of humor, and some of his commentaries will make you laugh out loud. His character did make the book easier to read.

This is the first book in this series that I’ve read so there were times that I felt that I was missing things. I thought the story was good as was the character work.

I enjoyed this story. It could have been longer, but it has great characters, an interesting plot, and a hot romance.

Everyone has a beloved mate. They just have to wait until they meet their other half. Marcus is a Halfling, part human part vampire and even though he is he seems confident, has good friends, and is funny and sweet. When he meets Zara he feels like he has found his mate. But wait, halflings don’t get mates, or do they? Zara is part dragon and part human, but has had it harder that Marcus. The full dragons have belittled her, teased her, bullied her, and sometimes treated her with disdain and disrespect. The two of them spend several days together and just when Marcus is getting his hopes up that she feels the same about him, her father has brought a dragon to her saying
Marcus is at a dragon event that is being held in honor of his friend Ayra’s honor. He doesn’t fit in because he is half vampire. He is trying to enjoy the event for her, but he just wants to leave. He sees a young lady that captures his attention. He can’t keep his eyes off her. When she comes over to him, he could not believe it. Marcus and Zara start off with a good conversation that goes wrong, she gets up and leaves.
When he leaves after that, dragons decides to give him a hard time. Zara comes out and decides to help him. Marcus and Zara make a date for the next day. He can’t wait to see her, he clearly is having feeling for her. I am not going to give anything away, have to read the rest of their story.
This book was good to read, you will meet to characters that are a little broken and alone find one another.
