Seriously? Four dragon warriors need to stalk my every move? I get it. They think I’m dangerous, but I’m only on their island to learn. Not to destroy it. This is another unfortunate side-effect of being the freak who descended from all three supernatural lineages. The bloodthirsty dragons, the destructive wolves, and the disloyal witches. Some believe that, when I transition in a few months, … in a few months, there’s a slight, teeny tiny chance I could unleash hell on the supernatural world. Call me crazy, but I’d know if I harbored that kind of power inside me.
… Wouldn’t I?
My entire life, all I’ve wanted was to be normal. Hence the reason I didn’t think twice about trading in my crown for a stack of books. I’ve got three terms on this island to prove the naysayers wrong, including my chaperones—Kai, Ori, Paulo, and Rayen.
These four are gorgeous, but also ominous as heck. Babysitting me has clearly taken their focus off something they’ve deemed more important. So, now they go out of their way to make my life a living hell, with hopes that I’ll give up and leave.
Thanks, guys.
You could cut the tension between us with a knife, but what’s weird is I don’t hate them all the time. There are even odd moments when I catch them watching me. And not in their usual “wish-you-were-dead” sort of way.
Even if I survive the academy, there’s still no guarantee these four and I won’t kill each other before graduation.

4 stars for First Term by Rachel Jonas. This is book one in the Dragon Fire Academy Series. Noelle wants to go to Dragon Fire Academy , when she gets in she is ready or so she thinks. She is assigned Kai, Paulo, Royen, and Or and she is not happy about it and neither or they. These guys are a new hive on the island. The island is not all it seems. I enjoyed learning what is on the island. Noelle is a great character and I loved everything about her. There is just so much to love about this book. I can’t wait to see what the next book has in store for us.
New author for me. This series is about Noelle. Her parents had their own series which I haven’t read. Now, I thought I would read that before this one but I changed my mind. I had read a few reviews of this one and the other series. What stopped me is there seemed to be a lot of editing errors in that particular series and they havent been rectified. I cant read books with so many errors because it distracts me too much from enjoyed the stories and understanding them like I should. Just how I’m wired. I hope the author does go back at some point and fixes those errors. Reason I didnt do it anyways is because reviewers said this could be read and you’d be okay without knowing stuff from before. They were right. I didnt feel lost but I do think at some point I’d like to go back and read it anyways just so I can get the complete picture of everything. Onto my review.
Noelle has fought hard for her place at this academy. Being who she is make people inclined to believe she bought her way through which is not the case. It bothers her to no end when she’s believed to be a pampered Princess. She’s really not and although she IS a Princess she never let it go to her head. I dont think her parents would let it from what I know of them. Upon arriving she is assigned Guardians and they are the best of the best. They are pissed they have to now juggle their jobs on top of babysitting a Princess. They arent bullies but they arent very nice to her at first. They were very rude and judgy. There are some mysteries with this island they are on and Noelle has a feeling they arent telling the students everything. Her Guardians arent very involved with her studies which they are supposed to guide her as Mentors and they havent which kinda bothered me because she’s kinda clueless at first. She’s basically had to rely on her friends to tell her stuff. Things start to change though. Could she be the destined Queen of their hive? Who can she trust because she’s starting to feel unsure of things. She’s not transitioned yet and she cant really hurt people if she cant control it. I really liked Toni and the twins. Tristian is okay but I am not sure what his deal is just yet. He definitely has a thing for Noelle but she doesnt return those feelings so it will be interesting what his role is. He seems off at times but could just be me. I liked the book and its really interesting and different. It did move a little slow for me at the beginning but it picked up and got my interest. Guess we’ll see what happens! OH!!! One more thing this isnt steamy at all. There are kisses and thats it and I sincerely hope we get for fun in the next book!
At first let me tell you I didn’t want to start this book, after I received it as an ARC, because it is reverse harem which I just somehow don’t like.
After a few days and a post on FB that helped me to read this I finally decided I should.
The book starts with the main character getting ready to go to this academy. This Academy is super hard to get into and everyone assumes she got there without even trying, but the reality is different. Why do they think so? Because she is the daughter of a Queen.
After arriving at the academy they get selected into a different “groups” and it happens she gets 4 super hot and attractive mentors.
They start off with a wrong foot since they have to babysit her basically and they are super rude to her.
The months go by it gets a bit better and after they realize something dangerous about her, they’re trying to protect the island from her.
I won’t talk too much about everything that happens since you definitely should read the book!
The ending was amazing and painful, but I really loved it! It makes me want to read the second one.
My overall thoughts are: the book is just truly IT! The reverse harem got it a bit at the beginning but now I would even want to be her!!! The main characters are amazing and gosh I would love to have them for myself…who wouldn’t?
This was a up all night can’t put it down book. Sleep is for the weak when The story just carries you. The breaking down of walls and the budding love made for a great read.
There is a cliffhanger, but if you are familiar with this author it’s normal.
This is a RH paranormal romance, slow burn. Noelle is the offspring of Evangeline and Liam from previous series. You don’t have to read that series for this one, but you will understand just how respected and feared her parents are. Noelle is on her way to the Dragon fire academy. There she is assigned four mentors, meant to be protectors: Kai, Ori, Paulo, and Rayden. Everyone is keeping secrets DNA each one just might get someone killed. That waterfall scene with Kai……..
Looking forward to seeing where this goes and how their team develops. Loved the characters and storyline.
Suitable for ages 13+
Noelle is a hybrid, a freak, something no one knows what will turn into when her transitioning ends. Noelle knows she wants to go to the academy to be a warrior dragon like her father and since she received her acceptance letter, she is going. Noelle is tired of being a princess and wants to live the life she has planned.
I couldn’t put this one down. I like that this isn’t full of the typical teen angst. There is a “villian” in the story, but it’s completely different than other academy books. There is a good amount of world building, so the island is easy to visualize. The male main characters are kind of unsung heroes, but not immediately likeable. There didn’t seem like a lot of action going on, but I had to keep turning those pages. This book was so easy to read, I couldn’t understand how I had made it to the last page so suddenly. I WILL be reading book 2.
Dragon Fire Academy is a spin-off from Rachel Jonas’ The Lost Royal Series, but you don’t need to have read that series to enjoy this book.
Get ready to follow Noelle’s journey as she strives to be accepted at Dragon Fire Academy. She’s the daughter of the Queen, and so she’s worried that people will judge her based on her family that on her own merit. It’s important to her to earn this so she works her butt off. She isn’t expecting special treatment so when she gets to the island and learns that she’s been assigned four gorgeous mentors, she isn’t thrilled. But hey! Neither are the guys. Kai, Paulo, Rayen, and Ori are the newest Hive on the island, but they are also the strongest. They take their job seriously and Ori, as the leader, thinks that Noelle is just a spoiled princess and a distraction. There is something dangerous on the island, and they need to focus on that. But could Noelle be what it is that they themselves need in order to be stronger? The evil that lurks knows of the specialness that is Noelle…the question is…can they keep her safe?
This book is hands-down…AWESOME! The minute I started reading this book I didn’t want to put it down. The characters are engaging and truly gripping. I love that Noelle isn’t full of attitude and confrontational. I was honestly concerned that at some point and time in this story that she’d pull the “princess” card and really go at it with people. Thankfully, that is not the case. This book is really thrilling when you get down to it. You get a taste of what lies on the island, the thing that hides in the shadows. I am curious as to how exactly the people become infected with it. I really hope that the author gives us a scene of when someone is attacked by it itself. The variety of characters is great! I love Noelle’s interactions with Toni so much! I hope that they continue to be good friends, but I sense a twist in her fate in the future.
There is honestly nothing that I don’t like about this book. Everything is so well done! The author is feeding my suspicions concerning certain characters, hooking me in with each page turn, and leaving me wanting more. I will say that I wish that Noelle has truly shifted in this story, but I love how it brings so many together.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I cannot wait for the next book in this series! For those who don’t like cliffhangers…sorry, but this book has an insane one! But I love it! While I’m waiting on book two, I’m going to be grabbing The Lost Royals Saga and devouring that because if it connects to this series…it has to be awesome!
OMG I’ve just read this in one sitting and when it ended well, I’m just sat here dumb! Well written this academy read hooked me from the very first page. I love Noelle, love her four guardians (Kai is my fav!) love her friends and totally love the storyline and it’s twists with the biggest one at the end!! If you love dragon shifters, witches, wolves, friendship, love, romance and a little action then please read this cause you will love it!
It was so nice to revisit my favorite characters from Seaton Falls. Dragon Fire Academy takes place 20 years from where Fate of the Fallen left off. It was very easy to fall in love with Liam and Evie’s daughter. Noelle’s courageous, big hearted and very intelligent.
The moment I started reading I became lost in the pages of her journey. It was such a wonderful adventure. I can’t wait for the next book so I can continue it with her.
Kudos to Ms Jonas. This is another grab you by the imagination story. I love the tone, tempo and emotion of this first book in the series.
Characters feel real and the writing is so descriptive you feel like you are with Noelle on her journey. I also just added four new book boyfriends to my list.
I absolutely loved this story. Noelle is the first of her kind. Never before has there been a dragon, wolf and WITCH hybrid. Wanting to prove herself, she enrolls in a dragon academy on an exclusive island. Of course if you read the Lost Royals saga (which if you haven’t I highly recommend that you do) her father Liam can be intense and highly protective of the people he loves, especially his baby girl. So there is no surprise that once she arrives there are four dragon warriors tasked with being her guardians for the remainder of her stay. Now she must learn how to deal with school, four extremely hot dragon warriors and her upcoming birthday because no one knows what will happen when she transforms. Plus on top of it all there is something strange and mysterious happening on the island.
I highly recommend you read this book of course after you read the Lost Royals Saga. Once I started I couldn’t put it down and now I am stuck patiently waiting for the next one.
A promising beginning!
As if the first days at a new school weren’t bad enough, to be singled out to have four burly men watch every move you make, is more than awkward. Especially if you want to keep a low profile and just be “normal”.
Well, “normal” just isn’t possible if you’re the daughter of two powerful parents.
And it soon turns out there is much more than simply education waiting for the reluctant princess!!
I’m looking forward to the next book. Hurry please!
This book was AH-MAY-ZING!!!! I honestly don’t feel as though five stars would be enough to credit this book. From the first chapter, I was drawn into the book..hook, line and sinker, the story and characters grabbed my full attention.
The characters are incredibly well written, the story line is interesting and the author has a magical way of making you feel as though you’re right there beside the action. I don’t want to spoil the fun for others, but I can’t stress enough RUN, don’t walk, but RUN to your nearest bookstore and get your hands on a copy of this amazing book!
I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book…and since Rachel Jonas is a new author to me, I will be doing some much needed stalking of her amazon page!
I recieved an advanced copy of the book and leave my honest review.
Now this is how you start a series. Leave the readers wanting more. Have some mystery some possible love matches and some danger…. Loved it. Can’t wait for the next one. Damn
Only one word to describe this book and it’s Amazing! This book was so well written and the story was wonderful i started reading and literally couldn’t put it down, you have fun sassy characters, a strong MFC and some sexy broody mc it has everything you need and want, leaving you wanting more!! Can’t wait for the second book to come out and see what happens next!
Dragon Fire Academy One is sooooo good. It sucked me in and didn’t let go! Noelle has a calling to join the Guard. In order to do that she has to be accepted and attend Dragon Fire Academy. She is accepted and this begins her journey. On the island the academy is located she meets her mentors/guards and new friends. Her initial judgment of her mentors is not positive, but gradually they grow closer. There is a plan in the works that none if them could ever anticipate.
The author is brilliant with her descriptions of not just the people, but the different places we travel to. It is not an overload of information, just enough to help you see it as if you were there. The author also crafts a story so engrossing you just have to know what happens next. The characters are awesome, there is a push and pull between each other and themselves and you genuinely want them to persevere. I loved the connection the author creates between all of the characters. I say this all the time, but when the connection is felt through the pages, it makes the reader completely invested in the outcomes and Rachel Jonas does this every single time. You won’t regret reading Dragon Fire Academy One and starting this journey with Noelle and her Dragons.
Wow! This spin off from the authors LOST ROYALS SAGA series has left me speechless and wanting MORE MORE MORE!!! it’s definitely not necessary to have read the original series, but it might give you a slight edge regarding the world this book resides in. Noelle is the princess of the Dragon and wolf kind on the mainland. Her mother and father, Evie and Liam both legends among their kind. Come to think of it, so are the majority of her family. Desperate to become a member of The Guard, Noelle had a plan and part of that is to go to the Fire Academy. First of course she must earn entry! Suffice to say that gaining entry was the easy part! Thankfully her parents didn’t raise spoiled or weak children . Upon landing on this majestic island that houses the Academy, Noelle learns that FOUR, hulking men are to be her mentor/guardians for the duration. As if that doesn’t annoy her enough, they all seem to have equally massive chips on their shoulders and think she bought her way into her spot. Oh and there’s something odd going on here. She can’t put her finger on it, but something odd is going on that they’re trying to keep a lid on. Watch this fierce, fiesty big hearted, loyal and amazingly strong warrior princess brave everything that comes her way. To top it all off, the time is nearing for her first shift. Until then she’s no clue if her dragon, wolf or witch will become dominant. It doesn’t help she’s the first of her kind to carry all three, and she’s terrified of letting her parents down or harming anyone on the island. Strange dreams about Darkness also keep haunting her sleeping hours. Combined with having the hots for the fearsome foursome and have her current situation in a nutshell. I for one was cheering her on every step of the way!!! Oh, and prepare yourself for a jaw dropping cliffhanger making you scream to the sky wanting book two! I’ve yet to read a book by this author and be disappointed. Glad to see that streak still holds!
By now you’ve all heard of the lovely, creative, and stunning Rachel Jonas amazing, wonderful books. And if you haven’t, go get yourself acquainted!! Go ahead…I’ll wait…You check them out? Yeah, they’re amazing, right?!? And those book covers are gorgeous. I first came across her when she was writing The Genesis of Evangeline and I was blown away by the artistry on the page. The pictures she painted with the written word were exactly that – art. It was a tapestry of emotion, image, and imagination woven into an entire world where anything was possible. To say I was hooked is downplaying it. I fell in love with the characters, their flaws, their nuances, their individuality, and uniqueness. Further still, she blew my mind with The Vampire’s Mark. I had more book boyfriends than I knew what to do with, and the way she writes her female character is nothing short of awe-inspiring. They are strong, resilient, and hold the world in their hands without being snobbish. And now, she has written Dragon Fire Academy. This is a branch off of Evie and Liam’s story and once more I am swept up in the story. Also, I feel a little dirty for all the naughty thoughts about Liam, considering who this new book is about. LOL!! Noelle and her dragons have captured me. Four Dragon warriors and each has their own story to tell, their own voice, and they come together so smoothly. This book is so epic. I could sit here all day and tell you the many many many things I love about this story, these characters, but I want you to be as invested as I am. And Just like the others, this one is unpredictable. Just when you think you have it pegged and the good guy or bad guy is locked in, you’re taken on a wild ride, on the edge of your seat, breath held in sweet anticipation. I loooooooove the new dragons and I am excited about this story. I’m seeing bad guys and allies everywhere, but I’m a little paranoid cuz I’m never right when it comes to Rachel’s books lol so so epic!! I can’t wait to see how much you all love it!!
