This is book four in this terrific series. Tor and Saboraak are trying to prevent another war but twists and turns, uncertainties and betrayals means they don’t know who to trust or what to believe. Tor is caught up in events he does not understand and has no control over. A brilliant series.
Dragon Chameleon: Mist of Power by Sarah K.L. Wilson is an action packed edge of your seat addition to this series. The story picks up where the last left off and things are nothing but intense all the way through. They’ve managed to find the place that they were seeking, but the girls are still in danger and with the man who betrayed them. Tor is questioning being a spy, because let’s be real…he wasn’t planning on dealing with all this danger! Secrets abound all around him, but he is learning a few things. It won’t be long before he learns some truly dark horrors that will haunt his dreams for nights to come.
Dragon Chameleon is a fascinating story that had me on the edge of my seat and page turning to the end. I couldn’t get enough of this book. While Tor has his annoying moments he and Saboraak are absolutely my favorites. Bataar does get on my nerves because of his arrogance and sense of entitlement. There are moments of where I honestly want him to pick a lane. LOL! Do you WANT the things you say you are “entitled” to or are you going to run away because you don’t want the responsibilities and dangers that come with it?
I like the diversity of the characters, and often have to remind myself that they are young adults and still not totally stable in their thinking. Makes me glad that Saboraak is there to help…”balance” them out. LOL! The author totally shocks me more than once with this book and one shock just about breaks my heart, but I couldn’t put the book down.
If you have enjoyed this series so far then you HAVE to read this book! You will not be disappointed! I almost guarantee you that! It sets the stage perfectly for the anticipation for the next book to be sky-high. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I couldn’t get enough, and I’m eager for more!
OMG!!! The author has me completely at their mercy, desperately needing to know what happens next.
Who to trust, who is friend, who is foe? This author has the magic to enrapture the reader, immersing them into the story
This series (dragon chameleon) is so much fun. All the Dragon School books are wonderful and the world creation is completely amazing so you can almost feel you are there, riding a dragon or having magic thrown at you. Highly recommend all.
“And if a man’s conscious was not free, then he was not free either”.
SETTING: Bataar and Tor escaped by the skin of Saboraak’s teeth which held onto Tor’s ankle. Using the prophecy as a guide, Tor and Saboraak found the hidden entrance to a well provisioned cave set up by Hubric. They ate and rested before returning to the city. Now they needed to rescue not only Zin & Zyla, but the Dragon Riders and the dragons! Tor finds he has inadvertently broken every rule Hubric had set out in this most recent missive! How will such infractions impact Tor and the Dominion’s interests?
More prophecies come to light, indicating the struggle has barely begun and that war may well break out. Tor must use his mind and his might time and again to climb walls, battle mechanical demons, and rescue Zin, who is finally overcome by the violence, having collapsed into a sobbing mess. How will Tor get them out of the horrible situation? Has he finally found someone who cares a bit for him?
CRITIQUE: In this episode, Tor is maturing into a man, taking responsibility for the well-being of others, including Bataar, for whom he still has reservations. We learn a bit more about Bataar and his people, as the story fills out. The relationship between man-Dragon is also solidifying, with each coming to trust, respect and depend on the other. Tor has put aside his pickpocketing-way of life as he has begun developing into the man he is meant to be from his heart. He does not have an inflated view of himself, but still is humble and sees clearly his own faults. Clearly, there is much potential in this young man, and I, for one, eagerly await the further episodes to see how this potential is developed! Outstanding fantasy, reader’s of all ages will enjoy.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I adore these shorter read novellas…they are packed with adventure and thrilling moments right up to the last page (and usually leave you guessing, even then). I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Tor, Bataar and Saboraak barely escaped and are now hunting for a safe hiding place, foretold by the note. Turns out it was stocked and prepared by Hubric as a staging place for Tor to help with his task of being a spy. Unfortunately, the warnings given by Hubric of “what not to do” have already been broken by Tor. Bataar knows Tor’s job, and he is planning on helping Tor find out what is going on. But, can Tor actually trust Bataar? Their plans are soon blown up forcing them to flee for their lives, with the help of one of the sisters Tor helped escape. Or did she help them…
Book 4 in the Dragon Chameleon is ramping up the excitement and the treachery. I can’t wait for the next installment!! I received and ARC of the book from the author. I enjoyed it and wanted to leave this review.
Skies and Stars! That was a.m.a.z.i.n.g!
Can Tor trust Bataar, or not? At least the boy can eat in this episode 😉 but he’s still cold… Tor has a spy mission. He keeps insisting he’s no hero, but he does some pretty heroic things! Saboraak has her own quest this time. Tor doesn’t agree but what can he do? A girl dragon with a mind of her own!
There were some moments of horror. Those people with the silver swirls in their eyes – they freak Tor out, and they freak me out! It was crazy suspenseful, crazy full stop. It was everything I could possibly want in a YA fantasy. The way Tor and Saboraak communicate is so full of dry humor! Saboraak is learning sarcasm! So funny. Amazing amazing amazing!
Favorite quotes:
“I could handle spying just fine without having my hand held all the time.”
“Skies and Stars preserve me from heroes! And from dragons with their own agendas.”
“I tried to breathe, forgetting in my haste whether it was in or out and then gasping from choosing the wrong one.” LOL!
“One thing was certain. I would never understand girls. … Or dragons.”
Our group is a bit fragmented right now, but they are all working toward a common goal, at least it seems that way for now. Tor and Saboraak are still getting to know one another and Tor swears he is no hero. I love these characters and how the story is moving along so far. I can’t wait for the next one.
This series just gets more interesting the more you read. Tor finds himself more the hero each book. Saboraak is a fun Dragon to get to know. She is quite different from Raolcan but that is expect as people are all different too. Evil is around every corner. Who can Tor trust?
*I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
What a great story based in the Dragon School World. At first I didn’t care for the serial format but I find myself loving it now. I anxiously await each new edition. Give this a try and you won’t be sorry.
Wow I am loving this Series. Tor goes in undercover to see what he can find out what is happened with the dragon and others in there group. A battle insues so there in the flight for there life. His dragon is needing rest but joins in later. The Author makes each one of her books so intriguing that you can’t help but be on the edge of your seat while reading and not put it down until your finished. This is a real page turner. I definitely recommend this read.
