This book starts out action packed, and ends the very same way. I feel like our MC Tor has reached a turning point in his maturity. He is beginning to put others ahead of himself, and it makes me so happy. Their world is fast becoming a dangerous place to be, but Tor and his band of dragon riders have made a decision to fight. I can’t wait to read the next in the series to see what happens to our heroes. I definitely recommend this book
I adore Sarah K. L. Wilson’s Dragon books, whether in her original amazing Dragon School series or the offshoot Dragon Chameleon series. In Creeping Darkness we hit on the 9th book in the latter series, and Tor and Saboraak (the eponymous Dragon Chameleon) have their work cut out for them. A magic powered metal Golem, flying golems – a Golem army – is no measly threat, and Tor will need to make some very tough decisions. Don’t worry though as this is all handled perfectly in this thoroughly well written and exciting installment. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
I am totally loving this fantastic series. This Author really does a fantastic job at her writing. You feel like your right there as Tor, and his Dragon do what they can before they are attached. Once I start reading each book in this series, I can’t put it down because it has you on the edge of your seat, with all the twists and turns. These are fantastic reads.

TITLE:” There’s a moment in every person’s life when they have to climb that mountain of fear and go over it…It’s that or die…This is one of those times, Saboraak.”
SETTING: On the run from the flying golems and the Gold Dragon, with Katlana (a Magika) as their captive, Tor and Saboraak have been joined by a group of Green Dragons & their riders. They are seeking to arrive at Estabis, for their own safety, to warn them and before the golems can destroy yet another sky city.
In the midst of all this, the dragons begin a bizarre mating routine, which, it is said, can not be interrupted. This brings their flight briefly to a halt, allowing both riders and dragons some much needed rest from flying. This situation provides a bit of interesting juxtaposition: Tor and Zyla having been doing their dance practically since meeting; the male dragons “display” (as do some males of other species), only now it is an entire cohort of Greens seeking Saboraak’s attention and approval. One thing clearly results from this: the Greens and their riders start to become tightly knit with Tor & Saboraak, beginning to form a cohesive unit, which will be greatly needed in coming days.
Now, our friends face a battle that will likely be fought to the death—just whose remains to be seen. They hope to save the city, or at least a good portion of it, and Tor’s heart is reminded of the destruction of his home city and the severe hardships he, and many others, faced afterwards. This remembrance helps to strengthen his resolve to fight in behalf of this city. As the attack begins, and the first dragon falls in death right at their feet, Tor attempts to embolden Saboraak with these words than have the ring of truth and pertain to all of us:
“There’s a moment in every person’s life when they have to climb that mountain of fear and go over it whether they like it or not. It’s that or die…….This is one of those times, Saboraak. I’ll be here with you.”
Just how Tor, Saboraak and the cohort will accomplish “climbing that mountain” and whether they will be successful in overcoming their enemies, remains to be seen.
CRITIQUE: Readers who have already started the series will devour this book. The storyline(s) are moving and a new one is added—Saboraak & her mate & cohort! What an original, and playful, set up right in the middle of the action! It is probably best NOT to start the series here, but rather begin…at the beginning! But, if not possible, then jump in now and THEN go back to catch up, as you will not want to miss this series. It is clean, up-building, and sets wonderful examples for us all in selflessness, a rare commodity in today’s selfish world.
