A Fantastic series. I love Dragon reads and the magic they have. And Saboraak has some great talents. With one of there group being deathly ill. And people looking for Tor. They have quite the hurdles to conquer. I love the fast paced read of this series. And new characters being brought to the series. This read rocks for the creativity and the great plotline. This series is definitely a must read.

Exhilarating, exciting, hold your breathe, type of action and suspense
Dragon Chameleon: City of ice sees Saboraak struggling to carry Tor and three other people. They need help but can they trust anyone? This brilliant series sweeps you along as Tor and Saboraak build their relationship as well as trying to help their new companions. Danger is everywhere and time is not on their side. I cannot recommend this book and series highly enough.
The story continues! Dragon Chameleon: City of Ice picks up where the second book left off. Tor has thrown himself off the top of the precipice to avoid the man who hunts him. Bataar still needs help and he’s not getting any better. The quest is still on to find their contact and to avoid those who are now hunting them. Tor has drawn the most attention and for now…the hunt is on for the one rider of a purple dragon. Danger lies all around them, and things are only going to get worse before they better.
Dragon Chameleon: City of Ice is book three in Sarah K.L. Wilson’s newest series and this story is yet another great addition to the series. I like how Tor gets into so much trouble, but I love how the relationship continues to grow and develop between him and Saboraak. The story continues to deepen as new characters are introduced and Tor’s skills come into play.
This is an engaging story and I am eager to find out what happens next. The characters continue to grow and the storyline is engaging. There are twists and surprises and things just keep getting better. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. Grab this book! You don’t want to miss out on what happens next!
“There is a kind of freedom that comes from duty. A kind of freeing of the spirit that only loosens when you stop clutching your own interests so tightly……Keep on caring for people and you may find it is true.”
SETTING: EPISODE 3, finds the ‘crew’ of Tor, 3 new passengers and Saboraak having escaped the Magikas for the moment. They fly to a city of 3 mountain tops. Thinking they were obtaining help from a benign stranger, Apek, they followed him to his home, a veritable museum of magical objects. Sent by their new ‘friend’ Apek, to obtain a magical item to heal Bataan, Zyla and Tor found themselves victims of a plot to get Saboraak! As a hostage, they already had Zin, Zyla‘ twin. They would allow Tor to deliver the magical bracelet to heal Bataan, but would only release Zin when Tor delivered Saboraak to them. Would Tor betray his Dragon? How did the Magic Practicers obtain Zin so easily?
Meanwhile, Saboraak is continuing her instruction of Tor, teaching him the virtue and value of compassion. As she does so, her words are worthy of reflection:
“There is a kind of freedom that comes from duty. A kind of freeing of the spirit that only loosens when you stop clutching your own interests so tightly……Keep on caring for people and you may find it is true.”
Her point: Doing your duty to help others, is what frees one—not running from your obligations.
CRITIQUE: Another action packed adventure, with one danger escaped only to have several more pop up to replace it! The 4 young people are starting to become acquainted, and the relationship between Tor and his dragon is cementing nicely. We are left hanging: How will they reunite with Zyla and Zin who are now in the company of Apek? Is Apek friend or foe? If not friend, will they be able to gain information Hubric may want them to have? We still have much to learn about Zyla, Zin and Bataan to make the story threads come together, which makes us eager for the next episode!
I really enjoyed reading this book. Tor and his dragon, Saboraak, get into one close call after another in this book. If you are a fan of dragons, dragon riders, and just love reading YA fantasy, you will feel hooked on this series after finishing this novella sized tidbit of deliciousness.
Tor’s adventure with Saboraak continues and the plot is getting thicker. I loved reading this book and I look forward to the next one.
This series gets better with each book. Tor is becoming more of a hero even if he doesn’t want to be one. Of course someone betrays him but his friends come through for him. It was interesting to see who wrote the new Prophecies that Tor is suppose to read. It will be interesting to see where this series goes.
*I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
Tor and his band of not-so-merry cohorts are running for their very lives. But, they have been seen and now the entirety of the city is on their trail. Saboraak can alter her appearance, but it’s not so easy for the 4 humans. They need to find Hubric’s contact to see if he left a message for them on what to do now, and where to go. Hiding a dragon in mountain side cities is fairly easy, but hiding her riders is a much more difficult task. Is the contact truly there to help them? Only time will tell.
I received an ARC of this book from Ms. Wilson, and I post this review to help others find a really cool series to read.
I have been binge-happy lately, getting really into book series and not able to put them down. Probably at the top of my list of binge-worthy series is Sarah K. L. Wilson’s Dragon Chameleon series, set in the same world as her fabulous Dragon School series (which I’ve re-read more than once and highly recommend). I’d read one of the Dragon Chameleon books before and loved it. When the latest, City of Ice, came out I just had to start from book 1 and binge read through the whole thing. That book 1, Rogue’s Quest, was the perfect way to start a sequel series, placing it clearly in the works of Dragon School (but in a way that totally works as an intro that world for readers who don’t plan on reading that series) while introducing Tor (a wonderful scoundrel of a character) and – most importantly – his dragon partner, Saboraak, the dragon chameleon and the spy mission handed over to them by Hubric. I love the totally different “voices” of these characters and, especially, how Tor and Saboraak interact. Added to a pretty darn exciting book this definitely drew me in and started a new addiction. That addiction only worsened with book 2, Paths of Deception. The action heated up with this one bit, to me even more importantly, the character development went into overdrive. It was a total pleasure watching Tor evolve over the course of these pages – an evolution that was perfectly done. Added to yet another great plot and a cast of great characters (especially Shabren, Bataar, and sisters Zyla and Zin) and I couldn’t wait to dive into book 3. Luckily I had that book 3 (the reason I started my binge read, after all). City of Ice was, quite simply, superb. Things are looking pretty bad for Tor, Saboraak and their friends (especially Bataar) but I wouldn’t count them out. Once again an exciting story, and once again loads of fun watching Tor develop into a superb character. Really that character development, and the character building of the cast in general, is what made this book and the entire series so special. It already had a great story arc and individual book plots full of action, adventure, wild twists and turn and pretty darn nicely done humor. I’d have given the series a five based on that, but the character development is what makes this series truly exceptional. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. Each of the books in this series definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that this series is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. A recommendation – and five stars – that I’m happy to apply to this third book in the series.
An amazing dragon-ride!
Tor is no hero. That’s what he keeps saying. But saying it doesn’t make it true. In this book he needs to con the conmen/conwomen.
I loved it! Lovelovelove! I loved the telepathic conversations between Tor and his dragon Saboraak. And…was that…COMPASSION Tor felt for Zin? My my, the boy is learning! He’s softening up and I lllllllllike it! He’s starting to like his dragon and I’m connecting too. He’s starting to feel responsible for his dragon and his new friends and that’s new for him!
Quote: “Dragons! And girls! Frustrating – all of them.” Surrounded by female logic, sometimes it gets to be too much for Tor lol. There was lots of humor! Another quote: “Women were the most confusing creatures on the planet. They were even worse than dragons.” An amazing dragon-ride!
The group is separated and they are trying to make their way back together. They meet what could be a new ally, but should they trust him?
So much happens in this one. I am starting to really like Zin. I think she is hiding some things, but I think its for the right reasons. Bartaar is interesting and I can’t wait to read the next one.
