It’s not always easy being a female warrior with a nickname like Annwyl the Bloody. Men tend to either cower in fear-a lot-or else salute. It’s true that Annwyl has a knack for decapitating legions of her ruthless brother’s soldiers without pausing for breath. But just once it would be nice to be able to really talk to a man, the way she can talk to Fearghus the Destroyer. Too bad that Fearghus … Fearghus is a dragon, of the large, scaly, and deadly type. With him, Annwyl feels safe-a far cry from the feelings aroused by the hard-bodied, arrogant knight Fearghus has arranged to help train her for battle. With her days spent fighting a man who fills her with fierce, heady desire, and her nights spent in the company of a magical creature who could smite a village just by exhaling, Annwyl is sure life couldn’t get any stranger.
She’s wrong…
And just wait until you meet the rest of the family…

If there was ever a bar to be set for best Dragon series ever, GA has set it with the Dragon Kin series. I’ve got multiple editions of each of these books and I can’t wait to meet her one day in person and try not to make a total idiot out of myself as I thank her for the laughs, the wanting to throw both my book and kindle at the wall when I was frustrated at the characters, and for giving us a series that sticks with you for years after you read it.
~ 5 Stars ~
I read this series so long ago, but I just had to pick it back up again and experience the wonder and fantasy of Dragon Kin again. I love love love G.A. Aiken aka Shelly Laurenstion’s writing and the characters she creates. This series brings me my favorite paranormal shifters Dragons.
Dragon Actually is the first in the Dragon Kin series by G.A. Aiken. WOW! I never get board picking this book/series up again. It’s so easy to read, quick, and loads of fun. The development of the romance/love between Fearghus and Annwyl was wonderfully done. I enjoyed the distinction between romantic love and friendship. I also enjoy the witty banter that goes on along with some kick ass action. This book has the perfect balance of love/romance and humor/action.
The main characters: Annwyl, know as Annwyl the Bloody is a warrior chick who does what she pleases. She is a force to be reckoned with, loads of passion and determination. I just love strong women and Annwyl is that. She is a great character to read about. Mighty, strong and a temper to go with her passion. Fearghus, know as Fearghus the Destroy is a dragon, but we learn that they can change into human. He pretends to be a knight to help Annwyl fight better, but he is an arrogant knight. I enjoyed the alpha dragon who likes a good challenge.
If you have not picked up this Dragon Kin series yet. I highly recommend you do especially if you love dragons, witty banter, kick ass characters and loads of adventure.
A female character with one hell of a mean streak. Captivating and entertaining from the beginning.
I enjoyed reading.
I love GA Aiken and her dragon kin series. She also writes as Shelly Laurenston. Her characters are funny, badass, especially the women. Her books are good for releasing your worries and getting lost in another world. Another world with folks you’d love to hang out with.
This is one of my favorite books because it makes me laugh out loud. Something I should probably avoid in public. (Lol). Annwyl the Bloody Is definitely a “took no prisoners” type heroine but loyal to the bone to those she loves.
This is one of my favorite series ever. I absolutely loved it and i would definitely recommend it.
Love the authors work.
Another novella, eventually I will get to the full books! Rhiannon & Bercelak are such a great couple. I enjoy the dynamic between them and how she’s the only one who makes him smile. It’s interesting watching Bercelak’s family react to how he reacts around Rhiannon. I have to say I hated Addiena even more in this book than I had previously. I’m happy with the way things worked out.
Merged review:
I really adored this story! I think that Annwyl is pretty bad ass, and I love how vulnerable the dragon in this story seems. He’s strong of course, but vulnerable in an emotional way. I also really liked the secondary characters…especially Morfyn. Getting to see older versions of Rhiannon and Bercelak was great too. I’m anxious to read more about the “grandkids” of the original couple.
