I don’t know what it’s like to feel.To hurt. The ability was stolen from me in my youth. I consider that theft a gift.Feelings got in the way when you were building an empire. Amassing power.I had the empire.I had the power.Until one night in an alley.Everything that took over a decade to amass was snatched away in a second. He killed for me.But he didn’t save me.
“And what is it you need?” the words came out as little more than a whisper. As somewhat of a plead, betraying my desire to know more of him, to find his loose threads and unravel them until he was in pieces in front of me, until I could dissect him like he was doing to me.
Doyenne, Anne Malcom’s latest masterpiece, breaks us down as she builds us into the world of Charlotte. Charlotte, who is a masterpiece character. One who we have never met the likes of before. One who cannot be described in simple terms, for Anne Malcom has brought us to our knees, attempting to find our place in the cracked journey of a woman of strength, of power, and of uncompromising intelligence. One who must be who she is.
Just like her author! To the moon, Anne
Overwhelmed was what I felt after reading this book a few days ago. I had to take some time to let is all sink in and to gather my thoughts. Honestly I really should not have been too surprised, Anne Malcom has a way of writing that makes you feel so much, from one extreme emotion to the other. This book is definitely one that does all that.
I am not going to go into too much of the story, but all the people in this book will seriously trigger intense emotions. Right from the first sentence on the first page you already get a feel of Charlotte. As you read on you see her fierceness, the strength, the damage and hidden deep down the love. Then you have Jacob, you see a man who is just as damaged with a hidden protector inside of him. The connection between these two are raw, intense and overwhelming.
The angst was high and tears fell but their story kept me captivated and I could not turn away.
Their love story is not the fairy tale love story that I normally gravitate towards. It was dark and did not have the typical happily ever after, but for Jacob and Charlotte it just worked. I do have to reiterate, this was a very difficult read, but this story stayed with me for awhile and the beautifully way it was written was why I felt, for me, it was a 5-star read.
Wow! This one was tough, not in a bad way, but in the way that you keep expecting one of the characters to do something, feel something, and they just don’t. I kept thinking that nobody could be this robotic like, yet still be human.
Charlotte is just that, human, but cold. She is a ruthless business woman, who always ends up on top. She runs 4 successful companies, but when she passes on another she finds herself in trouble, which brings a wolf to her. A wolf in the shape of a sexy man just as closed off and emotionless as she is. Jacob comes to her rescue twice, leading her to hiring him to protect her.
Both have pasts that dictate why they are the way they are. There is no typical happy ending for them, yet somehow that works. There are a couple of twists, in the end they change her in a way that there is no coming back from.
The author warned us it was dark, but even I wasn’t ready for this one. It definitely kept my brain on it’s toes. Definite 5 star read.
This book totally killed me!
I know that Anne Malcom has this THING, which made her books awesome, but doyenne. is everything!
I had this book nearly after last correction by the author and I immediately began to start read this story. It was four hours with angst and curiosity. All of these ended with big suprise and I really needed a little bit of time to put my thoughts togheter. Don’t blame me, OK?
doyenne. isn’t simple book, but when You will start read it, you can’t put it down until the end.
Charlotte is damaged, destroyed woman, whos have a big cosmetic company in her hands. She must be smart and calculating all the things to be the best. I loved her for the first page.
But Jacob, who was nameless a lot of time in this story stole my heart. He is like a lion. Always ready to attack and kill. He is the evil with darkness around him. Maybe on the first met You won’t like him, but when You will read his story I am pretty sure that he will stole Yours heart too.
The sexual tension between this two characters is increasing page by page. Charlotte and Jacob are like two magnetic poles, always repel each other, but in the end they have real, raw sex, which connection them not only bodily, but mentally too.
doyenne. is story that You must read. While I was reading it, my thoughts were ravel. I think that this new book of Anne Malcom is one of the best book which this author wrote. No kidding. All of them are really awesome, but THIS for me is the best.
The chemistry, the characters, the plot are truly fantastic.
This love story is tough, hard and very difficult.
Without flowers, hearts and sweetness, but with darkness, pain and sadness.
