Sparks fly when the hot-shot divorce lawyer meets the high-powered wedding planner. The only question is, what kind? If you ever get married, remember my name: Max Henderson. In my line of work, you acquire a certain perspective on supposedly everlasting unions. . . . 1. Pre-nups are your friend. 2. The person you married is not the person you’re divorcing. 3. And I hope you didn’t spend much … And I hope you didn’t spend much on the wedding because that was one helluva waste of hard-earned cash, wasn’t it?
But some guys are willing to take a chance. Like my brother, who thinks he’s going to ride off into the sunset with the woman of his dreams in a haze of glitter on unicorns. And the wedding planner—the green-eyed beauty who makes a living convincing suckers to shell out thousands of dollars on centerpieces—is raking it in on this matrimonial monstrosity.
The thing is, Charlie Love is not unlike me. We’re both cogs in the wedding-industrial complex. As the best man, I know her game—and I can play it better than her. But after one scorching, unexpected kiss, I’m thinking I might just want to get played.

Down with Love is a sweet story about how Charlie Love a Wedding Planner looking for love and Max Henderson a cynic Divorce Attorney who doesn’t believe in marriage; prove that opposites can fall in love. This story will just show that communication is always the best thing for any relationship.
This was my first book by Kate Meader; I found this book entertaining and enjoyable with every page. I love some good bantering between couples and Max and Charlie didn’t disappoint. Plus their sexy time together was steamy.
Looking forward to reading more books in this series!
Down with Love is the beginning of Kate Meader’s new Laws of Attraction series. I always wait with bated breath when a favorite author begins a new series. This book does not disappoint. Admittedly, the first chapter surprised me a little because it is pretty “raw”. I thought the author was introducing us to a different style of “edgier” writing. As it turns out, she was. Ms. Meader is writing from the first person perspective of the heroine, Charlie Love. I quickly embraced Charlie because her struggles as a single, successful business woman is realistic. The motivation for her behavior is relatable. If you have ever been told that your personality is too big, you are too loud, too brash, too anything, you will understand Charlie’s reticence.
The story is set up as an enemies-to-lovers trope pitting a divorce attorney against a wedding planner On the surface, that IS the story, but I am not sure that is an accurate description of our hero. I do not see him as the jaded shark out to maximize the pain of his enemies. I enjoy the other aspect of his personality, in which he helps the wives recover and find closure. There is something really heroic about Max. It makes him that much more loveable – (and he cooks). What works less for me is his motivation for avoiding marriage. I want it to be a little more compelling. Don’t get me wrong, the reasons behind his reluctance makes sense. I just wish it were a little more dramatic.
Nonetheless, this sexy story (it could quite possibly be Kate Meader’s sexiest one yet) immediately drew me and I could not let go until I read that very last page. I can see where Ms. Meader is leading us in this new series and I cannot wait for future books.
A fantastic book to kick off what should be a fun, sexy series. Kate Meader always brings us a story filled with humor, witty banter, and a sexy romance. That’s exactly what she delivered in this book. Cynical, seen it all, divorce attorney Max Henderson and believer of HEA’s, heart on her sleeve wedding planner Charlie Love are quite the odd couple but somehow they work. These characters and their story will leave your heart singing with joy. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next one!
Down With Love is everything a good romantic comedy should be and then some! We have lovable characters, and engaging and witty story, and lots of reasons to smile, chuckle, and even laugh out loud. When you pair up a divorce lawyer and a wedding planner, sparks are bound to fly. In Max and Charlie’s case, those sparks are not just of the fiery, you make me furious kind. They’ve both been burned by love in the past, and while those issues are addressed, that part isn’t the focus here. We do get a bit of angst, but it’s low key, keeping this romance lighthearted and sexy. To sum it up, this is a wonderfully written combo of sweet, sexy, and downright hilarious.
This is the first book in the Law of Attraction Series and starts the series off with a bang. A beautiful story and it’s so easy to fall in love with Max. He’s a tough divorce lawyer on the outside and all gooey and romantic on the inside. He has no use for wedding planners or anything other than one-night stands. That is until he meets Charlie, his brother’s wedding planner. She’s hot and their chemistry is explosive even thou they don’t especially like each other. Their banter back and forth is amusing and it’s humorous watching their enemy to friends relationship grow. I read a reader copy via Net Galley and voluntarily chose to review.
My new favorite Kate Meader book. I loved the banter between Max and Charlie and experiencing their journey of breaking each other’s walls down. Can wait for the installment in this series.

With a title like Down With Love, I feel like I should be sporting a picket sign and yelling at someone. So here is me trying to at least fufill half of the expectations…
DOWN WITH LOVE!
DOWN WITH LOVE!
You know those feelings you get when a certain someone walks in the room. (It’s indigestion.Take some Pepto.)
You know the wistful sigh and dreamy eyes that result from thinking of that same someone. (Its actually a wheeze brought on by allergies. See an allergist or your local pharmacist for the correct medicine for you.)
You know the empty void in your chest when terrible thoughts or longing to see that certain someone seem to consume your day. ( It’s just gas build up.)
That feels like an anti-love ad, right? Well if you are looking for love haters anonymous, you came to the wrong book. Down With Love may give off that vibe in the title but it couldn’t be further from the truth. Even with a divorce lawyer and a wedding planner as the main characters, never did this book turn into a brutal MMA style fight. (I can’t say that certain people did not behave aggressively or violently but no one was physically harmed in the making of this book. The only destruction was emotionally charged.)
Look I can keep giving you my snark and pretty words (I say they are pretty-wise guy!) or you can unwad your panties, grab a glass of whatever, and enjoy the ride. These two are entertaining and will definitely have you watching your step, Cujo or not!
Kate Meader did it again! This book is so delicious, I’m already full, but I want more. I didn’t want it to end. Charlie and Max are incredibly wonderful together – from the first meeting up to the Epilogue. Their clever banter should win awards. I’m smiling from ear-to-ear just thinking about their snappy comebacks, the nicknames, their pop culture references, the Cubs jail (!!!). Down With Love is modern, super current with engaging characters (both main and secondary), flawless storytelling, snappy and meaningful dialogue, and hothothot sexytimes. Why is Illegally Yours not yet out? I want it right now.
I want a paperback of this and this has to be made into a movie. Love it!
Down with Love is the first book in Kate Meader’s new Laws of Attraction series. I loved, loved, Kate’s chefs, firefighters, and hockey players, but they have nothing on her divorce lawyers. Written in first person, this romcon is classic Meader voice with a much lighter tone. This story drags you in from the first page and doesn’t let you go: it is just like being in Cubs jail. If you’ve read Meader’s other books: give this a try. If you love a good romcon: give this a try. If you want a great afternoon read, you guessed it: give this a try.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
Max is a cynical divorce lawyer. That’s what he is on the surface anyway. His partners in the law firm tease him about having a softer, romantic center. He keeps that side well hidden though. After one disastrous engagement ended because she loved his money more than him, he’s determined no one will get that close again. When his brother tells him he’s getting married & is using a wedding planner, Max immediately jumps to conclusions. After all,”That’s her job – smoke & mirrors, upselling on everything, creating the fairy tale while you flirt with bankruptcy.”
Charlie loves her job as a wedding planner. She helps the couple create the experience they want for their day. It’s helped her get over some of the issues from her youth. She still has moments where she doesn’t feel worthy & it makes her reluctant to let anyone in. She’s attracted to Max after he gets his foot out of his mouth but knows it would never be a “forever” kind of romance. Can they ignore their attraction? Or do they find a way to make it work?
Ms. Meader has given her readers what looks like an opposites attraction story. Once you start to delve into the plot, there are more similarities between them than you expect. The characters are realistic & describes such that I was able to picture them in my mind. The story pokes a little fun at the storybook image of the rich, uptight family as it goes along. This was an entertaining story & a good introduction to the characters to come later in the series.
Let me start off by saying I do not read books with attorneys, musicians or actors. They just do not interest me…until now. I have loved everything I have read by Ms. Meader so when I read this series is about lawyers, I thought do I want to take a chance? Hell yeah, I am glad I did. Max is sex-on-a-stick. Not only is he terribly sexy but he is kind, loving, feeling, just plain wonderful. Boy could we all use a little Max in our lives. Charlie is a little harder to like. She does not want a committed relationship. I do love that she owns who she is (for the most part). It is kind of a role reversal story in that you think it should be Max that wants a fling (and he does, kind of) but really he is in it for the long haul. Max makes this story.

A divorce lawyer meets a wedding planner. Two complete opposites who you think wouldn’t work out but sparks fly with these two.
Charlie Love is a wedding planner hired to plan the wedding for the brother of a cynical divorce lawyer, Max Henderson. Charlie and Max fight their attraction towards each other from the get go, but once their learn of each others professions there is a little more push than pull.
But can Max learn to love again after being hurt and will Charlie look past the hard exterior of Max and see who is really is?
This was a sweet story. There was chemistry, their was some misunderstandings and there were a few laughs. I do look forward to reading the rest of the books in their series as they are released.
Max Henderson is well versed in marriage gone wrong, being a divorce lawyer ensures that he sees what happens when happily ever afters don’t pan out just about everyday, and for that reason he has become quite cynical about marriage. So when he learns his brother is about to wander down the aisle mere months after meeting his bride-to-be, he about loses it, what could he possibly be thinking? Then he meets their wedding planner Charlie, she’s beautiful but she is also in the market of creating the very thing he despises, which is very hard to ignore. But after several run-ins and several stolen glances he begins to notice a side to her that is not only unexpected, but something he wants to explore…but doing so might land him in a place he swore he’d never end up!
Down With Love is a delightful little enemies to lovers tale that will have you smiling and giggling one moment, and then fanning yourself and swooning the next! I thoroughly enjoyed this newest offering from Ms. Meader, it had the steamy, finger singeing encounters I have come to expect from her, but it also had a nice tender and heartfelt side too, it was really good for the heart and feelers!! I loved these characters, they were about as opposite as they could be, and at times I was certain they would never be able to get over their stubbornness and find what was waiting for them on the other side, but with time and a unwavering chemistry then found their common bond… and boy was it fun to watch it all unfold! I highly recommend you pick this one up, it’s literary gold!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Kate Meader is always a go-to author for me because she makes me laugh and gives me ALL THE FEELS. Down With Love is a must read from one of my favorite authors.
I loved the witty banter between Max and Charlie, it was so entertaining. Those two went toe-to-toe all the time and it made for some seriously hot sexual chemistry. I was digging it thought out the whole book. I even enjoyed all the secondary characters too. I really want to check out the next one because I was loving Lucas, he seems fun.
My favorite quote in the book-“ When a couple learns how to fight properly—how to argue effectively and work through problems productively—well, that’s the recipe for everlasting love.” I 150 million % concur!
What a great book! This is a new author for me, and I absolutely love a story that is well written, full of witt, sassiness and humor throughout the book. This book has that and more, Max is a high level divorce attorney whose younger brother has just popped on him that he’s getting married to his dream woman. Of course given what Max does for a living, he’s a bit skewed on the santuray of marriage, especially when he meets the wedding planner who will be in charge of his brothers nuptial bliss, Charlie Love. I adored the banter back and forth with these two characters, and when they finally make the plunge into some pretty hot and steamy love making, it’s truly off the charts. Loved Sully and Donna, Cujo was pretty funny, and loved the guys at the firm, the punching palace was hysterical and actually a great idea. Max and Charlie are two people who have pasts that keep them from feeling like they deserve to be happy in the love and marriage department, but find out it’s worth finding out together than apart.. Well worth the read.

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
I loved this book! Max is a divorce attorney who is down on love because of job and past relationships. His brother James has fallen madly in love and is getting married and asks Max to be the Best Man. Charlie is the wedding planner who wants her own happily ever after, but hasn’t been the luckiest in her own love life. These two start off on the wrong foot (literally, as Max steps on her foot), and the initial antagonism, turns into foreplay. I loved all of the characters in this book and I loved that the relationship took time to develop. This is a great start to a new series. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
I don’t normally review a book this early. It’s May 18th and the book doesn’t release till August! The thing is – I could not review it the same if I waited that long. All this excitement I have for it right now wouldn’t come across if I waited and I didn’t want that for this book.
My favorite book by Kate is Playing With Fire from the Hot In Chicago series. The hate-love match that Eli and Alex had was off the charts. I still measure all books with the same theme up to that book. It’s the gold standard for me. I could read that book over and over again. It’s truly one of my favorite books.
“Boners in the presence of father figures.” Lucas shudders. “I’m getting a de-rection just thinking about it.”
Why am I gushing about that book on this books review? Well, probably because this book has easily become just as epic as that one. The humor was on point, the banter was well-timed and flawless, the chemistry was off the charts. I know Kate can write some amazing stories and she has a skill that makes you feel her words deep in your soul. But this is on a whole new level for her. It’s fresh, it’s witty, and it’s endearing.
“And she’s not my type again because?”
“You’re a cynic.”
Ah, she’s one of those. A believer. Okay by me…
“Cynics need blow jobs as well.” I say in my most pathetic voice.
Charlie and Max were so different and yet they were so perfect for each other. When they met it was like each half of the same soul saw their other half. I sincerely hope that whatever sparked Kate to start writing stories like this one talks her into continuing it. Their internal dialogue was some of the best stuff I’ve read in a while. It’s hard to explain so I hope you read this and see for yourself. If you have read Kate before, you should check this one out for sure and see her new “voice”. Well it’s new to me because I’ve read all of Kate’s books and this is different to me.
I could go on and on but in the end all I have to say is…read the book. It’s amazing and one I won’t forget anytime soon.
I received a free, advanced copy of this book from the publisher by Netgalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Charlie Love lost her mother at a young age. Angry at her loss, she became angrier in the foster care system , until she was adopted by Cubs scoreboard keeper, Frank Sullivan (Sully) and his wife Donna. Under their care, she grew into a smart, beautiful woman, who even after betrayal by her fiancee, still believes in love and owes her own very successful wedding planner business, Perfect Day.
Max Henderson, on the other hand, grew up in a wealthy, loving home with his younger brother and both parents, who are still in love with each other. Max has overcome challenges, including stuttering, and is a partner with his two best friends, in a divorce law practice. He specializes in helping wives, who after years of supporting their husbands and raising their children, are dumped for a younger model. He doesn’t do well with change and has not been able to get over the betrayal of his own fiancee, who was only interested in trust fund, which he gave away.
They meet and clash, when Charlie is hired by Max’s younger brother, James and his fiancee, Gina. Charlie is looking for her one, and Max is too jaded to trust any woman, but the more time they spend together, it is Max who starts having feelings for her. Can he convince Charlie he could be her one?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. All the characters are cleverly developed, slowly revealing their layers to the reader and the other characters. While the plot of a wedding planner and a sceptic is not unique, this one was quite entertaining.
Down With Love
Max Henderson …no relation to me that I Know of..lol ! He is the divorce attorney extraordinaire. He doesn’t want to see you unhappy but if you end up there …you may want to look him up. He is not a doubter of romance but always says I hope you didn’t pay a lot for that wedding !
Charlie Love…Making the wedding of your dreams a reality. Once you find love then you need to find Charlie love to have that fairytale come true!
When these two opposites collide it sets both of their worlds on a tilt. Both of them beginning to question their own judgement and pasts. They are funny, sexy, sassy and the banter with the chemistry is outstanding! Loved them !!!
