Down & Out Witch (Red Witch Chronicles #0), my first read from author Sami Valentine, & it won’t be my last. A well-written work, intro to the Red Witch Chronicles. I look forward to the next book in this series, they’re that good. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Down & Out Witch is a novella in the Red Witch Chronicles by Sami Valentine. We are introduced to Red and what has happened to her. We also get to know Vic, her savior. This is a great introduction to the Red Witch Chronicles. It has a great plot, lots of suspense and action with well developed characters, Red and Vic. I thoroughly enjoyed this book an am looking forward to continuing this series.
This is a great novelette. A great introduction into Red and what happened to her and her training into becoming a hunter. Great plot, great characters, tons of action.
Out heroine has been claimed by a vampire, but can’t remember anything about her past. So she becomes a hunter while searching for answers…
This is a prequel to a rough and tumble urban fantasy series. This novella length story packs a lot in, giving us a good grounding in the setting and the background of our main characters. Do I want more? Of course, but that is because I really enjoyed the story and the characters and want to see where it is going.
This story was well written and has a relatively straightforward plot, but that doesn’t mean things are easy and there are definitely some unexpected twists and turns. The story was full of action from start to finish and definitely was a good read which kept my attention throughout I am definitely looking forward to the next book.
Highly recommended.

Received ARC. A great prequel. Leaves you with more questions. Makes you want to read the next book ASAP.
Red doesn’t know her past at all. She was attacked by a vampire, had her memories blocked and left on the side of the road. Vic found her and helped her heal. He gave her the name Red, encouraged her to let the past go and move forward. He takes her on and trains her to be a hunter
Red and Vic are hunters and are in Oklahoma for a rogue werewolf that killed a human. Unfortunately, the vampires are the reason they are there. They have a three days to find this young woman or else. What they don’t know is that there is more to what is going on than they realize.
The King will claim Red and gives them one day to bring the girl in dead or else. They will do everything they can so Red is released from the King. They have allies they didn’t know.
There are events that will enlighten Red to her past, will see let it go or decide to try find out who she really is and what happened. But first she needs to make it out of there.
This is a great introduction to the series, you are kept entertained through the novelette. The characters, plot and twist and turns will keep you going then wanting to know more of these characters

I really enjoyed the storyline! It is a 2 part story and both are great looks into Red and Vic. The pair of hunters are always on the move looking for their next bounty. In the first section you learn about how Vic came to find Red. In the second, you see how much she wishes she remembers. I did enjoy this prequel, but the only thing that bothered me were the grammatical errors. It was a free story for signing up for the newsletter, so I’m not sure if there are the same errors in a paid version. But I was able to move past them and enjoy the story.
Down and Out Witch by Sami Valentine is a Pre-quell of the Red Witch Chronicles series. This book introduces the character Red, a young woman who has lost her memory after waking up in a ditch with vampire bites on her neck. This story is a gripping tale full of adventure, danger, and a female main character who made me fall in love with her. This story is full of interesting twists and turns that give a wonderful start to what I think will be an amazing series. If your looking for a great paranormal urban adventure tale than this book is for you!
