Absolutely loved Reece and Jenna’s story. Great, loveable characters and a really entertaining, steamy read! I seriously struggled to put the book down! I look forward to reading the next J. Kenner novel!
5 FRIENDS-TO-LOVERS stars! A perfect way to start a new series.
Holy cow! This book was so damn good. This is how friends to lovers romance should always be: Intense, mind-blowing and passionate. J. Kenner never disappoints me. Her male characters are complex, sinful and possessive. This time she delivered a stunning book with a strong storyline.
Down on me is the first installment of her new project called “Man of the Month Series” which I assure you is going to be a bookish pleasure. Mark my words: This is going to be epic.
The plot is refreshing and the characters are complex and well built. The subgenre could be a little bit of cliché but the main storyline of the series is unique.
Who doesn’t want a different book boyfriend each month? A different flavour?
People say that friends could be lovers but not the other way around. So, have you fallen in love for a friend? Were you afraid to lose his/her friendship? These are typical questions when you decide to give the next step on your relationship. The main issue is if things don’t work, you will lose your friend.
“Sometimes you don’t know what you want even when it’s staring you in the face.”
The main characters of this book are best friends. Jenna and Reece have denied the powerful attraction that is between them. They were afraid to screw up their friendship because things will turn awkward. They have a mutual friend, aka hot daddy Brent so if things don’t work, they will ruin everything between the three of them.
“She wanted the fantasy turned to reality.”
Jenna and Reece could deny the attraction but the chemistry is always there reminding them that they belong to each other. People around them can see the sparks flying when they are together.
“This was what–who–she wanted. And so she did the only thing she could do. She surrendered.”
Temptation, lust, friendship, sex and love; all mixed in a sinful romance.
“Make me feel it,” she whispered as they moved together. “That connection. The light and the earth.”
Reading this book left me drooling over the first male characters of this series. I need to read all of the following books right now. If your thing is hot, possessive male, you should not miss this book and all of the following ones. Don’t be afraid to surrender. The only damaged thing will be your panties.
“Because you’re mine. Fully. Completely… Not anyone else’s. Mine to touch. Mine to fuck. Do you understand?”
Best friends Jenna and Reece have secret feelings for each other but they are not so secret from Brent, the third friend in this trio who warns each to be careful. Eight months ago things suddenly became steamy for Jenna and Reece before Jenna moved to LA but Jenna was drunk and supposed didn’t remember but Reece has been living in denial but now that Jenna is back in Austin the sparks are going off and cannot be denied. This was the perfect start to this series and just the right way to whet the appetite for more. The Fix on Sixth is a bar in dire need of saving and with this gang of friends on the job, lets hope they can do it. I really liked this one and glad the next one comes out in a couple weeks!
Wow! This is actually my first book by this author and I am trying to figure out way. Down On Me, was a book that I wanted to read and never finish. The characters were well written and the story line worked so well with the characters. Reece and Jenna are that special heart filled couple you want together, no matter what. The support characters make you want more of their stories NOW. A must read take you smile and laugh.
Down on me is the first book in the Man of the month series. I enjoyed reading about these two characters Reece and Jenna. Its a well written story. It has a good storyline. This story kept my interest throughout the story. I look forward to reading rest of the series.
I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are of my. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this story.
Bachelor Reese Walker wants two things in life – to save his bar and to be with Jenna Montgomery. They have been friends since childhood but recently he can’t ignore that fact he wants more. After an unexpected kiss changes everything between them they find that change is hard but it can lead to happiness.
These two were a pretty good couple. I enjoyed both of their characters mostly. Reese is a sexy bartender with no expectations of a permanent relationship. He knows that marriage is a shame and nothing will change his mind. His constant negativity about marriage was a little annoying after a while. Jenna was smart and very resourceful at planning events. I liked her but I thought it was annoying that she instantly pushed for marriage (I wont say more than that because it will be spoilers).
Overall, I did enjoy the book and would be willing to read more from this author.

Book 1 in the Man of the Month series and it as a good read. I have read her books before so I was happy to read another. A friends to lovers’ romance about Reece and Jenna. They were such a good couple. Loved the attraction and the chemistry that they had for and with each other.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was one hot book and a great start to a series!!
Brent, Reece and Jenna have been friends forever. They have been through everything together. What happens when two of them develop feelings and try and hide them. It makes for one hot scorching kiss!!!
I genuinely really liked the characters of Reece and Jenna. They were both very protective and new the other one would be there in a heart beat. They were already in a relationship just without the fun times. One kiss changes all that.
I loved reading about both of them coming to terms with their demons and seeing what/if it was holding them back from truly being happy.
They have been friends forever and she is probably the only woman who he hasn’t hit on because he doesn’t want to spoil their friendship then about eight months ago he realised she is actually the woman for him Can he save the place he and Brent work in Can he get Jenna to look at him as the man for her future What happens when a baby joins the mix You will have to read to see
Sweet story. I enjoyed the loyalty of this group of friends and workmates. Nice mix of characters.
Enjoyed the storyline. Could see how friends would worry about crossing the line. Captured interest from the start & wanted to keep reading.
I have really enjoyed all J Kenner’s books about the Calendar men–they are pretty quick reads but really heartfelt for quick books!!!
It was just ok for me. I love friend to lovers books so I was kind of disappointed. I did finish it though.
The book very short and some what disappointing. I’m glad the characters ended up to together but I was wondering what happened to the bar.
I loveed it!
4 stars
I received a free copy of the short novel Down On Me: A Man Of The Month Novel book 1 by J. Kenner and this review was given freely.
A steamy friends to more romance with a happy ending containing wonderful characters, a complex story, conflict, family drama, and a good lead in to the sequel. Centered around an extended family of four good friends and saving their bar, The Fix on Sixth in Austin,Texas, the friends decide to up their PR which includes a contest to end in a calendar featuring 12 men who are just as good inside as they look outside, Reece and best girlfriend since childhood Jenna finally give into their attraction, put aside doubts and give into love. Steamy with a hint of BDSM.
This is the new series from J Kenner… Mr.January set the part for more in the series.. Reece and Jenna relationship are a slow burner.. it doesnt mean its lacking of sexual intesity… sexy doesnt even cover it 😉 bestfriends with feeling are complicated.. the denial… it kept everything interested and tastefully sexy..
This book was a fast entertaining read. It’s the story of best friends to lovers. The focus is on the characters so there’s not as much attention paid to world building but the characters are likable. Before the couple finally got together they were both a little immature, I was wondering if they were adults or in middle school! Not sure if I’ll go in to read the other books in the series
Down on Me is the first book in J. Kenner’s new Man of the Month series. This best friends to lovers story was fast paced and fun with lots of steamy scenes. The story centers around 3 best friends trying to save their friend’s bar.
We are introduced to a number of characters in this story who will all feature in the next 11 books and the epilogue sets us up nicely for book 2.
This first book is Reese and Jenna’s story, you could feel the intensity of their chemistry from the start as well as the strong friendship they had with each other and the other member of their group Brent. I enjoyed reading this novel. Apart from the romance I loved the friendship aspect as well.
Complex characters, interesting story-line and some great chemistry all made this a good read. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
