Welcome to Shadow Valley where the Dirty Angels MC rule. Get ready to get Down & Dirty because this is Zak’s story… one of the club’s strippers, those priorities get a bit skewed.
Sophie has no idea what happened to her life. One minute she’s totally focused on building her bakery business, and the next? She’s delivering a cake to the Dirty Angels motorcycle club’s “homecoming” celebration for a member who just got out of prison. Little does she know baking that cake will change the rest of her life, not to mention, make her a target for a rival MC. Normally, Sophie wouldn’t be caught dead with a man like Zak, a tattooed, ex-con, badassed biker.
When a decades old territory war threatens to rip them apart, Zak will do anything to keep Sophie, his club, and the town safe. But being from two different worlds, the threat they’re under may not be worth the risk.
Note: This book can be read as a standalone. It includes lots of steamy scenes, biker slang, cursing, some violence and, of course, an HEA. If you like alpha males who like to take charge, this book is for you.

Okay, so you know I have been on an MC reading binge and Jeanne St James’ Down & Dirty: Zak is such a great read. Lot of heart in these characters… and men who are tough but sensitive… you know I like them just like that! 🙂 Enjoy!
This is my first time reading your work and I can honestly say you did an awesome job with this. I was cringing a little bit, because I was thinking, okay he just got out of prison and he’s gonna be showering in “Club Girls” but lo and behold he end up with his soon to be love interest on his first night out of prison I loved it! Great job! And I’m giving this book 5 stars.
Down and Dirty Zak is the first book in the Dirty Angels MC series and what an awesome introduction it was. This was Zak and Sophie’s story, and a case of mistaken identity leads to Sophie ending up in Zak’s bed and right smack in the middle of the DAMC world.
The story will hold your interest from start to finish. Zak’s apha male tendencies, Sophie’s sassiness, the humour, the intense chemistry, the hott steamy scenes, the escalating trouble with the rival MC and so much more, made this a story you will not be able to put down.
The audible version of this novel which was narrated by Ava Lucas and Sean Crisden. These two did a fabulous job with the characters and they really brought the story to life. I loved listening to them narrate the story
This novel was bold, addictive and riveting. I loved it and would highly recommend it to all lovers of MC romance.
I absolutely loved this book. Zak and Sophie were so hot together. I also love how the world of the Dirty Angels MC was built. So realistic and fun. I can’t wait to read more!
Totally unexpected read. Someone was recommending this in a Facebook group and after hearing how this couple met, I was intrigued. Even being intrigued, I wasn’t expecting to love it. I’m so picky about MC books. I don’t like cheating or the club girls that are always in these books. This one steered clear”mostly” from all that. There is a few scenes with club girls but neither had anything to do with our couple.
First, I loved how they met, which is why I picked this up. Hero gets out of jail and mistakes the heroine, who baked his cake for the club party, as a girl the guys got for him. Her reaction is more of what made that part pretty hot. I loved that she just says screw it and enjoys herself.
The other reason I ended up loving this is how gone Zak was for Sophie right from the start. He pushed himself right into her life from the start. Even better…while Sophie couldn’t keep her hands off Zak, she wanted nothing to do with a bikers life and she was very vocal about it. I love that she didn’t fall at his feet and resisted a life she knew nothing about. It felt more realistic and it showed how Zak had to win her over to the club life.
This is a total double standard but…I also loved that Sophia wasn’t afraid to show appreciation for other men. Even better, Zak didn’t do that with other women and he had humor towards her doing it. Like I said, a double standard but I don’t care.
This was the first time read author Jeanne St James. It took me two days I couldn’t put it down. I was so amazed about Zak and Sophie story. And what with Zak father and brother unbelievable
Sophie came late to the club to deliver cake for one of the ex-con party. But all the subbed that same ex-con was pulling her upstairs to his room. He wouldn’t take a no. Will Sophie give in and to this tattoo and ex-con.
Zak was lock up for ten year. Lost his position of President. He wasn’t sure if he still want to be back president of the club. He was just so happy to be out of the cement cell . Like Zak calls it. Unit he see a beautiful women coming inside the club. He couldn’t control him self. Zak had to have her right away from being lock up ten year. Zak just wanted to have fun.
What happens next well you have to find out yourself. The romance was hot as hell . The story well written and even the charters as well. I really couldn’t put the book down. Thank you so much Jeanne St James. For the adventure of Zak and Sophie story. Can’t wait for the next adventure as well
This is a fabulous first read in this biker series, it pulls you in from the very start. Zak is an ex-con who gets what he wants and he wants Sophie from the minute he sees her, although he mistakes her for a stripper. Sophie is a girl from Philly who runs a bakery, she is looking for nothing more than to build her business. When the 2 get together they explode, with crazy sexual energy. Sophie tries to fight it but there is something about Zak she can’t quit. This book had a great plot and characters and Ms St. James teases you with just enough to leave you wanting more without leaving you hanging.

STORY:
So the takeaway from this story, if you haven’t had sex in years, all moral and thinking goes out the window haha. I really like Sophie. She is always trying to be stern but gets weaken with Zak’s magic wand. She added appeal to the story that I like. Zak was a man of not so many words in the beginning. It could be annoying at times with his one word responses. I liked the premise of the story, but when it was over, it felt incomplete. I still had so many unanswered questions, especially if it can be read as a standalone.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
This book had a lot of sex scene fillers, but moi aka me, will not be complaining. I loved it. Both characters are starving for sex after years, so it’s fitting.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
I liked a couple of the MC’s characters. Don’t think I will read all the books in the series but want to read Linc and Jayde along with Bella and Axel.
OVERALL:
Fun sex scenes and likable story, but the book didn’t feel complete to me.
TRIGGERS:
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
This book was my introduction to MC romance. Whilst I loved Sophie and Zak’s story and chemistry, I can’t imagine any woman fearing rape to suddenly be stripping off for a felon. Once I got past that, I loved the story. Sophie is so sweet and l loved Zak’s family history.
I enjoyed parts of this but I also felt like some parts of it were forced and didn’t feel as natural. ALSO. So many moments were skipped over and just sped ahead in time. I understand trying to move a story forward but I felt some important moments were skipped and the story didn’t really have an ending. It felt like the author was trying to set up the next book but it didn’t feel like Zak and Sophie’s story was wrapped up fully.
4 Down & Dirty Stars
Down & Dirty: Zak is the first book in the Dirty Angels MC series by Jeanne St. James. I am a new reader of St. James and I just can’t get enough of her books. How have I not known about her books before now!?
Zak is fresh out of prison, framed for a crime he didn’t commit and has spent the last 10 years in a concrete cell. He is on a mission to get his life back and have no ties.
Sophie has just started her dream business in Shadow Valley as a baker and is doing everything she can to make it a success. She doesn’t need distractions and she certainly doesn’t need a big, sexy scary biker to mistake her for a stripper and drag her into bed. No she really doesn’t need that type of distraction. A case of mistaken identity sets these two on roads that neither saw coming.
Zak and Sophie’s story was a great first start to this series. They had great chemistry that was very enjoyable to read. The story was made ten times more enjoyable by the gang of secondary characters throughout. If you’re not a fan of having the full story tied into one neat knot then you probably won’t like this ending. St. James brings the storyline right into the next book. Overall a very enjoyable read and I recommend picking it up.
Good strong characters. Flow to the story. Tid bits of what might be happening behind the scenes. Loved it. Just big the next one in the series!!!
Great book to read
First time author for me. This was a different type of MC romance book than I’ve read before and I’ve read a lot of them. Zak is a hot, alpha male who storms Sophie’s walls and pretty much bull dozes her into being his woman. But it’s all done in such a sweet way. I loved the sweet side Zak gives her and I also loved Sophie’s stubborness in fighting Zak. I was sad at the way Zak’s family has shut him out. You get a lot of hot sex, a lot of hot alpha males that you’ll like, a sometimes funny and sweet romance and characters that I want to read more about. I hope to see more of Zak and Sophie in the next book in the series.
If you’ve read all of the MC romances out there, try this one if you want something just a little different.
This book was ok. I had some issues with Zak. I didn’t like how pushy he was and that he never listened to what Sophie said. He just kept pushing his agenda onto her until she basically gave in, which isn’t healthy for a relationship. He also refused to explain simple things about the club, like what an old lady is, when Sophie clearly doesn’t understand what it is going on. This is one of my peeves and made me no really love this book.
I was glad to see Sophie finally stood up for herself after a while. It still bothers me all the stuff she put up with before he would listen though. I felt like the book ended rather abruptly as well. We don’t see a resolution with the other MC or his family. Overall, the story was was ok, the sex was really steamy, but the relationship, for me, was stressful.
Dirty Angels MC first book starts with Zak. The clubs old president just being released from prison. I enjoyed Sophie’s conflict with deciding to be part of the MC. Zac and Sophie are hot together. This book could be read as a stand alone – but why would you! I loved learning the history in this club and look forward to the rest of the series.
A true biker romance. Steamy love scenes that you want to read slower just to make it last. A great instalove with a hea ending. Can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.
Couldn’t put it down.
Great characters, made me read the series. Highly rec u read if you like bikers
This started off a little rough for me in that it was over the top, almost dubious consent that turned into the heroine screaming for it…all within minutes of seeing each other. But as the story progressed I actually got pulled into the characters and all their quirky, overbearing, fun and sexy ways. The heroine was somewhat annoying in her back and forth/push and pull and judgy ways regarding the club. Zak was freaking amazing! Loved his alpha goodness, totally jealous, possessive and protective. He checked all my boxes.
This has a good bit of club life and drama, including a woman coming on to the hero and him not saying anything about the heroine, and plenty of grunting alpha biker talk. Although this was a happy for now, the ending was rushed and felt incomplete which I guess will be continued in the next books.
I ended up actually enjoying it but was disappointed by the lack of a completed ending. This would’ve been a 4 star read had it not been for that and the heroine. I may continue on just for more of the alpha talk/attitude.
