She says she has a three date rule. She thinks she doesn’t do serious. She thinks she’s prepared for me.And I’m about to prove her wrong. Penny has no idea I’m the chubby, nerdy kid she went to high school with—I shed that baby fat on a surfboard after graduation, though I am still a massive nerd, spending the bulk of my time and energy coding my video game. The last thing I expect to find in New … expect to find in New York is her.
The second I see her smile, I recognize her: the girl I’d crushed on since sophomore year. The girl who dated the biggest asshole in our school—the same guy who might have ruined her for me.
She can tell herself all day that she won’t fall for me, but she doesn’t stand a chance. Because I know exactly what I want, and it’s her. And I’ll do whatever it takes to have her.
But everyone has limits, and Penny will test mine. And the moment I have her heart in my hand is the moment I stand to lose her forever.

Staci Hart is quickly becoming one of the authors that I will read anything that she writes. So of course, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Bad Penny. What I didn’t know is just how much I would fall in love with both the hero and the heroine. Seriously, that hardly ever happens but it sure did with Penny and Bodie.
The title is appropriately named because let’s face it, Penny is bad. She lives her life exactly the way she wants to. Balls to the wall, Penny is sarcastic, witty, and downright shamelessly dirty and brash. And I love it! She owns who she is and doesn’t let anyone tell her anything different. However, her past kind of pushed her to stave off men. Sure, she will serial date up to 3 dates. Her very own, very specific rule. She loves sex just like everyone else (actually probably way more) but she’s not letting anyone get to her heart ever again. She didn’t like who she was and who she became when she thought she was in love all those years ago so she makes a clean break each and every time. Until Bodie comes along.
Bodie is sexy, super intelligent, funny and sure as fuck knows how to handle women. Especially Penny. He had me melting from the get go. But what I really liked about him was the fact that he’s cared for Penny since they were in high school. When he crosses paths with Penny many years later, he’s no longer the chubby kid was always there for Penny when her boyfriend treated her like dirt. Now he looks like a model, is successful with his career and ultimate still wants to make sure Penny is cared for and loved.
I absolutely loved the banter between Penny and her girls and even Penny and Bodie. The things that they would say and do seriously had me laughing so hard. Add that one top of some epic pop culture references and I was hooked from the start. I mean, who won’t fall in love with Staci Hart after relating Penny to Blanche from The Golden Girls. If I hadn’t already been in love, it would have happened then.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Bad Penny delivers us a fun, quirky, sassy read packed with EXTREME heat and love and affections. You do not want to miss out on this book. You’ll laugh. You’ll swoon. You’ll fan yourself and get all hot over Brodie’s delicious ways. You’ll ultimately fall in love. I will be recommending this to everyone.
The heroine was so fierce in this one. Definitely top 5 fave romances!
Slightly disappointing, but overall a cute read.
If you’ve read and enjoyed Tonic, you’re probably going to enjoy this book as well. If you didn’t like it, just stay away.
Although there were a lot of cute moments, I didn’t find this funny at all. Maybe it’s just my sense of humor, but nothing made me laugh or giggle.
Penny is loud, gutsy, and bold. She’s a fun girl, but her biggest fear in life is commitment. Her worst enemy is herself, and her mind is the only thing stopping her from true happiness.
Bodie knows Penny is easily frightened from relationships. So he tells her that they don’t have to be serious, hoping that one day she’ll accept that they belong together. He’s the perfect hero that knows how to please a woman in bed. He’s also patient and compassionate… a perfect 10.
I really liked Bodie and Penny together, but it was just difficult for me to get attached to this book. Some of the sex scenes felt a bit meaningless, and things just felt a bit dry and bland.
