Complicated doesn’t even begin to cover it.

This was my first read by the prolific Kendall Ryan and I have to say, she knows how to suck you in. I have read a few books with the premise of waking up married in Vegas. This one had the added benefit of the heroine being older than the hero. Landon is such a sweetie even when he messes up. I liked him right from the start. Aubree, it took me a little bit to warm up to her. She seemed a little bit thoughtless or maybe self-centered would be a better term. But as Landon got to know her, I got to know her and I quickly began to root for them to stay together. I am so glad I took a chance on Down and Dirty. It was sweet and slow, hot and sexy. A great way to spend a weekend!
It may not come as a surprise that research has shown that Las Vegas has the highest percentage of divorces in the United States, but in a lot of romance novels, more than a fair share of Vegas weddings end with happy marriages. In the case of Landon and Aubree in Kendall Ryan’s Down and Dirty, one of the kinda-sorta-maybe twists is that he isn’t the least bit interested in divorcing her. I liked seeing how these two were trying to navigate their new relationship by working through things backwards. I adored Landon and how he was sweet and sensitive but also dirty in all the best ways possible. Aubree was also a treat, thanks to her being confident and independent and coming into her own as Landon’s wife. The fact that she was cautious in the beginning earned her bonus points with me because she was realistic but also slowly opened herself up to her husband. It was great seeing the other couples from the earlier books and how supportive they were of Landon and Aubree. Five stars for Down and Dirty.
This has definitely been my favourite couple of the series!!
Waking up in Vegas married to someone you hardly know is quite a shock but with the hot chemistry that is sizzling between them Landon is wanting to make the marriage work whereas Aubree is almost ready to run.
This one seriously made me swoon!! Landon is EVERYTHING! he may be the rookie of the team but he is know rookie when it comes to Aubree!!
This is one you can devour in one sitting as you will be completely hooked
Sultry, charming, and sweetly romantic!
Down and Dirty is a lighthearted, passionate rom-com featuring the independent, intelligent Aubree who is more than happy to be single and focused on her career, and the charismatic, hunky Landon who’s prepared to wait as long as it takes to find Mrs. Right.
The writing is playful and witty. The characters are sassy, gregarious, and endearing. And the plot is a spicy combination of friendship, desire, temptation, sizzling attraction, palpable chemistry, tender moments, light drama, sexy times, and hockey.
Overall, Down and Dirty is a fun, steamy, wonderful edition to the Hot Jocks series by Ryan that will leave you smiling, craving more, and dreaming of the most delicious, perfect book boyfriend ever.
Can’t get enough of these hot jocks!
This is the fifth book in the Hot Jocks series and is an older woman, younger man, friends to lovers, accidental marriage, romance. Once I picked up this story, I couldn’t put it down.
While Aubree and Landon’s marriage isn’t conventional, it has a very good chance at becoming the real things. Landon is so dang swoony and is determined to make his marriage to Aubree work. He can be extremely clueless about women but his heart is always in the right place. Aubree is a strong, feisty, and independent woman and is the perfect match for Landon. I loved watching their low-drama, journey to a happily ever after.
I’m so happy we got to catch up on every one from the previous books in this series as well. I love all of these jocks so much and watching them find their happily ever afters is so much fun! I can’t wait for the next one!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
After watching his father struggle with marriage and finding the right woman Landon is determined to not follow in his father’s footsteps, he is determined to only settle for the right woman. So, when he wakes up married to Aubree, the woman he has wanted for so long, he knows he has to do everything in his power to make this marriage work. He knows marrying her on a drunken whim wasn’t the best idea, but now that he has her he doesn’t want to let her go, he is certain she is the “right woman” … but convincing her of that fact may be a little easier said than done.
Between the pages of this captivating tale readers will meet a couple who decided to have a little fun in Vegas, and wound taking it a little too far. Neither of them were in the right frame of mind to get married, but they do, and the story follows them on their new matrimonial journey. One is in it for the long haul, wanting to make it work, while the other has reservations about the whole thing, and how it could possibly work out in their favor. But it’s the chemistry they have that keeps them coming back to each other, and the more time they spend with one another the more they begin to think maybe fate was on their side that night. I absolutely adored this couple, watching them embrace this new normal and open their hearts to love, it was quite a beautiful (and uber steamy) journey. From the very first page they had my attention, and it never strayed with each page that followed, they kept me mesmerized and swooning the whole way through! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it comes brimming with everything necessary to leave your heart happy!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Down an Dirty is book 5 in the Hot Jocks series. It can be read as a standalone. Each book in the series has different main couple. This one is Landon and Aubre’s story. Landon is a great guy. He’s a big hockey guy but he’s also a softie. Aubree is a great girl. She has a great head on her shoulder. After a drunken night in Vegas they wake up married. Landon likes the fact of having a wife, while Aubree struggles with it. These two have great chemistry and a fun story line.
4 1/2
Sometimes you read a book that is so good that you cannot put it away and it is this case. Kendall Ryan is shinning in this series about hockey players in Seattle. Each book is better and this one is impossible not to like. Landon and Aubrey are complicated but at the same time they are everything together. Their story is sort of backwards since the married first and date later, but sometimes things are not how they suppose to be to work it out. Sometimes life happens and it is enough for you to just flow and enjoy. They have a rough start but as soon as they start to date and understand each other they are so tight and together. The writing is so good and so emotional. Landon is the ultimate good guy who just want to have what he didn’t with his family life and Aubrey just want to be happy but does not know how.
I really loved this book!!!
What an unexpected read that will have you cheering for their HEA. This is not your typical accidental marriage romance read and you will be surprise by how much you will fall for the characters. I loved how Landon and Aubree’s character shows such vulnerable feelings. I enjoyed how they grow as they discover each other and what being married really means. Great characters, awesome storyline, and a HEA that delivers makes this a must read.

I can’t lie, I wasn’t expecting to like Landon and Aubree’s story as much as I did. I think it helped that I really liked Landon, I believed him that he was sincere and that he actually felt the way he did for Aubree and about their situation, and this allowed me to connect first with him and then with her.
There was some external tension on her part, and I do think it annoyed me a little the way she handled it. But, at the same time, I can see the reasons she had for what she did so I wasn’t too annoyed at her or thinking that it wouldn’t work out for them because of the way she handled their relationship at the beginning. I also really liked the authenticity of the reaction to her secret from Landon. I loved that he reacted in a way that was not only real, but in proportion to the situation.
Anything else will give away some key plot points…and I hate spoilers.
I enjoyed and recommend this title, for those who have read the other books in the series and to pick this one up as a standalone.
Excellent romance
I liked that this story takes the clichés of romances backwards: here, the woman is older than the man, he is a virgin and she is experienced, he wants a stable relationship, she runs away from solid ties, he wants to stay married, she quickly wants to cancel everything. (not counting their difference in wealth and perception of the way in which money is managed).
In short, even if the romance is predictable, all these points allow us to see in a different light problems that are usually feminine in romances. So, in the text, certain scenes where others give advice, can be funny.
This inversion of cliché also highlights the question of what makes a relationship last or end. As the two heroes get married very quickly, they have skipped a lot of steps that allow them to get to know each other or consolidate a relationship. In addition, Landon being a virgin, the novel is very hot in the scenes to describe everything that can be done without touching to this virginity and more.
Aubree and Landon get married under the influence of alcohol in Las Vegas. They know each other, but not to the point of getting married. However Landon is a rich athlete and he refuses to be like his father a divorcee in series, but on the contrary he wishes to remain married and given a chance to this union with Aubree, even if she is slightly older and that she refuses to commit. Yet an attraction is certain between them and Landon will therefore do everything, even sometimes clumsily to prove to her that she can give them a chance.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I had fun with Landon and Bree. A drunken night in Vegas leads to marriage and Bree is shocked that she did it. She doesn’t think Landon is old enough for her as the 23-year-old Rookie on the team. Landon connected with Bree the first time he met her and knew she was the one but how does he convince her of that. Going from a wedding to dating seems all kinds of wrong but works perfectly for this duo. Each one comes from a home of divorce so life-long commitments are a mystery and each one has trust issues around that idea. I enjoyed how they worked on getting to know each other and found a comfortable connection. But the big elephant in the room is Landon’s virginity. Is Bree the one? Will she feel worthy to be that for Landon? Add in Landon’s life of uncertainty as a pro hockey player, never knowing if he will stay with his team or not. And with all of this, we get the wonderful supporting characters from the Ice Hawks. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Down and Dirty, book 5 in the Hot Jocks Series.
In this installment we get to meet Aubree and Landon., the sweet pixie and the quiet, shy alpha hockey player. What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay there, a quickie wedding, finds them getting to know each other backwards. As a couple, it was so much fun to follow along with their love story. This story had all the feelings we have come to love in a Kendall Ryan book, and a wonderful HEA to boot.
This was such a wonderful read!! I thought there was something so special about Landon and Aubree’s romance. Was it the reverse age gap? or the friends-to-lovers trope? or maybe it was the virgin hero? or even fun accidentally married in Vegas twist?… Actually I think it was how skillfully all of these were brought together, combined with characters that were easy to connect with and root for and seasoned liberally with delicious amounts of emotions, tension, turmoil, humor, sweetness, heart and steam. Just an all around excellent read that will have you laughing, smiling and swooning as your heart melts. I loved it.
Picture this: a hot man, built by hockey discipline, beautiful blue eyes, loyal and… inexperienced. Come again? Oh, yeah, he is going to 😀 And the lucky lady who meets all his wildly loving expectations will do so too!
I kind of melted a few times with this couple. The first chapter introduces a hockey rookie fantasising with a woman out of his league… and then throws them into a drunken marriage with passionate consequences.
Landon is adorably nice, kind, and intensely eager to please. Not only that, he really wants to give this messy marriage on the spur a lasting chance. And I loved that about him. However, I understand Aubree’s reticence to intimacy, both emotional and physical. She is older than him, has her professional goals and her misgivings about the seriousness of their relationship. That tension means lots of scenes where stark reality and intoxicating passion battle for supremacy.
From accidental marriage to funny jokes from friends, this rollercoaster of emotions pulls at the characters’ strings of trust and intimacy. All the while, the handsome athlete learns a few things about what he’s been missing with his willing celibacy. There’s one surprising and funny scene involving a bed, a daring woman and a dirty object that will stay with you longer than the last page. Enjoy!
Landon and Aubree may be rushing the steps towards love, but their story is warm and cute and sensual. I enjoyed the lots of touching and fun moments with the other players in the hockey team and their partners in love. I also thought that the blow that threatens this couple is very well played and fought over. It felt real and raw. And so satisfying to be followed by an amazingly romantic ending.
I really think this series is heartwarming and burning hot. So ready for the next couple!
Landon, the quiet shy rookie. Aubree the pixie girl with all the sass. When one thing leads to another and they get married in Las Vegas they find themselves courting in reverse. I really liked Landon’s venerability, I mean he is this big hockey player with a soft heart. Aubree is at a crossroads of committing to her job or her relationship. I enjoyed reading the progression of them as a couple. This story had all of the feelings and an HEA at the end.
Down and Dirty is actually a really fun, fast paced read! Aubree and Landon find themselves married on a drunken Vegas night and now they have to figure it all out!
Landon is a swoon worthy, sweet guy with a big heart that really wants their relationship to work out but Aubree keeps throwing obstacles in the way. She may be older but I am not so sure she is wiser as she seems to want to throw something away that could be everything she could ever want. Fear is a very strong emotion and Aubree is so afraid to open up her heart and take the next step. I really liked these two together and hoped they could work it all out!
Read for yourself to see if they can make this crazy one night opportunity be something that could last a lifetime!
Kendall Ryan has done it again. I don’t know how she does it but every single book I read of hers manages to take me away from real life for a couple of hours and I love it!
I love the whole waking up married storyline so I knew that I was going to love this one before I’d even started. And then I met Landon and Bree. Landon was a complete surprise for me. I knew I’d love him, hot hockey player it goes without saying, but I wasn’t expecting him to be quite so….Landon. He’s close to perfect to be honest there wasn’t anything that I didn’t love about this man. Bree was another great character. I really liked her even though there was one thing she did that really bugged me for the most part I thought she was the perfect match for Landon.
Read this book! You won’t regret it.
Down and Dirty is the fifth book in the Hot Jocks series and one thing I love about this series is each book is a different trope, it keeps things fun and different. That being said, Down and Dirty is an older woman/younger man, wake up married in Vegas.
Landon is a rookie and we got a glimpse of him in the previous book. Aubree works for the Ice Hawks charity organization and is friends with Bailey. Two people you wouldn’t think belong together, however, there is just something about them that clicks and works. I loved the chemistry they had together. Landon is such a sweetheart and there were times I just wanted to reach through my kindle and hug him. Aubree on the other hand, well she took some time to get used to. The way she reacted just didn’t sit well with me, but she redeemed herself.
Both Landon and Aubree had their fears when it came to relationships, however, they both slowly started to break down each other’s walls and prove to each other that this is more than just a drunk quickie wedding and a meaningless relationship.
Of course, there is more of previous couples and some sneak peaks into future couples. I loved getting more of some old favorites and getting little tidbits from future favorites. Down and Dirty is a MUST READ!
Another amazing Hot Jocks series book! This story follows Landon and Aubree. I loved Landon. He’s so sweet, funny and sexy. Aubree is fierce, sassy and smart. I loved the entire gang coming back together in Vegas, and seeing how they all interact with each other again.
5 Stars!
