Dive into a whole new world of deception, love and family with Shameless Southern Nights, a new contemporary romance series from USA Today Bestselling Authors J.H. Croix & Ali ParkerA small town can hide many secrets. It can also expose every secret you have.I’ve spent almost my entire life in Cypress Creek. My family was once a pillar of the community, but times have changed – for the worse.… but times have changed – for the worse.
One look at Marie Nix, and I’m determined to have her. She’s everything I want and then some. She may be too pure for me, but I can’t help myself.
Unfortunately, like me and our small town, she has skeletons in her closet. Her past isn’t staying in the shadows.
Regardless of the things she’s done, once I have a taste of life with her, all I want is more.
Even if it puts me face to face with the threats surrounding her, I’ll do whatever I have to in order to make her mine.
*This is Book 1 of the Down & Dirty trilogy. You will have to purchase book 2 and 3 to continue the saga. The next trilogy, Slow and Steady will tell the story of Sonny, one of the other brothers.

I feel so sorry for Marie and Austin. No five-year-old should be hesitant or scared to see his father. Stalkers are very real and very scary. I applaud the authors for bringing this topic up. Going home where Marie has friends seemed to be a great option until her troubles follow her there and now she is worried for her friends’ safety.
Jeremy is a hunky construction worker with a heart of gold. All of his brothers seem to be hunky too, I wonder if they’ll be getting their own HEA’s.
I love the little town and all the gossip that goes along with it. The ending is a cliffhanger and is so heartbreaking. Luckily ‘Down & Dirty #2’ is already out so you can continue to read about Marie, Austin, and Jeremy to find out what happens next.
In this book, we have two wonderful authors, instant chemistry, suspense, and one most adorable little boy. This book grabs your attention from the beginning, and does not let you go. First, the authors do a really good job developing the characters, so you feel like you really know them, and you can feel their emotions. Then the story has the perfect combination of steamy hotness and suspense, all intertwined into a book that you do not want to put down. I loved this book, and can’t wait to read the next book.
What a way to start an incredible series of books. This story brought to life what it’s like to run from your present, to be bought back to your past and hoe that your future will finally see some happiness. In this story we see 2 people try their hardest to overcome bad pasts that no one could have ever imagined. Jeremy and Marie take us on this journey and we see things changing for the better until it all comes crashing down. I can’t wait to see what book 2 will bring us. I happily give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy
Roy Lovett, widowed father to five boys and former Governor finds himself in prison…how and why is a mystery. When his son Jeremy visits him, Roy warns him “people are going to come after you, after all of you.” No explanation follows, just a warning. That is when the reader realizes sinister events are in the works.
Marie Ann Nix had problems too. She and her young son Austin are in danger, it is just a matter of time before Wesley makes his move. She knew she had to leave, get away from him before it was too late. He was violent and abusive and he had been watching them. Her first priority was to keep her son safe and the only way she could do that was to leave Savannah as quickly as possible. She almost made it but then she spotted him and called for help. Next stop Cypress Creek, a place of hope and possibilities and a new start. It was home and she and her son need friends and stability right now.
This is a very engaging story filled with a variety of strong characters and some who live on the darker side. I found myself holding my breath more than once. In addition to the suspense, there is an introduction to a romantic encounter that provides a little exhale. All in all, if you like a healthy mix of emotions, some serious mystery and a young man you will want to hug, then this just might be in the right place for the perfect answer to an evening escape but be forewarned, there is a serious cliffhanger at the end of this novel. The good news is there are two more books in the series with a guaranteed HEA in book three. And let me just say this, it will be well worth it if the next two are as good as this one.
Personally, my reader copy was smoking by the time I got to the end and now I am anxiously awaiting the next two books. I am hooked — it’s just that good : ) It would seem the partnering of J.H. Croix and Ali Parker was an excellent idea – they have earned 5 stars for this collaboration.
I love it. Jeremy has had a hard time he career ending injury in football, his mom died, and his dad was involved in a scandal that placed him in prison. Marie returned home with her son to get away from an abusive ex. It’s been years since Jeremy and Marie have seen each other and when they do it’s instant chemistry. Then things turn for the worse when her ex shows up. This is the 1st book in a 3 book series. I recommend you
preorder this book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
** spoiler alert ** Cliffhanger***Read Series In Order*** Marie decided that moving back to her hometown with her son was the best choice for both of them. Jeremy determined after the death of his mother, that love wasn’t for him. Someone is determined to ruin Marie. Will Jeremy give them a chance?
Definitely sucked me right in and made it so that I cannot wait to read the next books in the series. I loved how Jeremy was genuinely a good guy and took to her son no problem. I didn’t blame Marie for being hesitant and scared. Good read!
This one had me turning the page as quickly as possible and very hard to put down. Marie and Jeremy’s story is very entertaining.
4.5 Stars
This is book one in the Shameless Southern Nights series and it features Jeremy Lovett and Marie Nix. These two have a lot going on in their lives. Marie’s situation with Wesley is tragic and completely changes the way she lives her life. Jeremy has his own family problems. Some things are brewing for him and his brothers but haven’t come to fruition yet.
The characters are fabulous and the story line progresses at a steady pace. This is a total cliffhanger! I am a reader that enjoys very few cliffhangers but this one is fantastic! I am excited and on the edge of my seat waiting for book 2!
I was really excited when these two authors came together! I love both of them individually so I knew this book would be good. The plot was intriguing. I love the characters though they could use some more development. Austin’s character is just perfect. I love the little guy though I hate that he’s a “grown up” five year old. Children should be allowed to be kids which Marie is trying her best to do despite the circumstances she got herself into. While some of the story-line is choppy and feels like it doesn’t fit, I hope these two authors will eventually tie everything together in the end. I did end up purchasing this book and I’m currently reading the ARC of Book 2. I can’t wait to see how it all ends for Jeremy and Marie as well as the stories of Jeremy’s brothers. His brothers have a wide range of career choices which does make for an interesting read!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book…
