It was just supposed to be one night. No kissing. No feelings. A wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am tangle in the sheets and we go our own ways.Only it’s a small town, and I was bound to run into the irresistible Porter Jones again. I just didn’t expect it to be at my job interview…which he’s conducting. Now the live-in nanny to his adorable seven-year-old daughter, I’m doing my best to avoid falling for … doing my best to avoid falling for his charms.
Except it’s much harder than either of us anticipated.
What’s a few romps between friends?
No kissing. No feelings. Just fun.
Sounds simple, right?
Right…

Yay, Teagan is back with Dory and Porters story! I really enjoyed this book, not only was it funny but it had that deeper layer of emotions. I really liked the chemistry between each character. I love seeing the dynamic between them all. And Kyrie was so cute!
Dory and Porter were bursting with chemistry from the start for me. I could feel that connection through the book and it made my heart sing. It was exciting to watch them grow and fall together. Kyrie was a laugh and a half, as was her father. I laughed out loud a good few times through this book, I couldn’t help myself. The rest of the gang was their usual funny selves, especially Foster and the tea party.
I adore this author’s work and I am so excited that this book is here for us to enjoy. I can only hope that Sully will have a book because I am so intrigued by him! I want to know more.
This is my voluntary arc review
I wish I could make time, so I had all the time in the world to read all of Ms. Hunter’s books!
This story of Porter and Dory is everything a true romantic comedy should be! Full of laughs, love and oh my me heat! Who knew a kiss could mean so much?!?
Dory is a scrappy gal, she may be down, but don’t count her out! She is independent because she has to be, and she has trust issues because of her upbringing. A chance meeting at Slice brings readers into the chemistry that roars between Dory and Porter.
Porter is a self-made man, he too has had his struggles growing up, but he adapted and overcame them. He has his own issues of abandonment and trust too, and that’s what makes him and Dory perfect for each other.
The secondary characters bring so much to the story! The hilarious dialogue will make you laugh out loud!
This is the first story in this series that I have read so I can honestly say this can be read as a stand-alone! But you better believe if the rest of this series is as good as this one, I am putting them all on my TBR.
I absolutely loved Porter’s story; we get to see this hard-working single father try his best at being there for his daughter while running a million-dollar company. He wants his daughter to have the best life ever because she has been through so much in her life and he has been through so much with his ex. Porter has moved across the country so maybe he can balance his work life with being a dad without sacrificing any time with her or his company. He is looking for a nanny and is surprised when his one-night stand is the one he wants to hire. Dory has had a rough upbringing and once she was able to get away from her situation she took off, she has struggled financially but she has worked hard for what she wants and has. I loved how strong willed she was and that she wanted to be as independent as possible, yet she also just wanted someone to love her deep down, but she didn’t always know how to let people in due to the fact she thinks nothing good could ever last. Dory and Kyrie hit it off and fall in love with each other quickly which means Porter does too, but he is also scared of being left behind. These two had a string physical attraction and tried so hard to fight their emotions, but sometimes emotions are too strong to fight against. I loved we got to see the other characters from previous Slice books and the dynamic and bond they all had together was amazing. They had me laughing until I cried and wanting more, I really hope we get a book about Sully he is such a unique guy I feel he has a lot offer someone.
Like the previous books in this series, Dory and Porter are complex and really likable characters with complicated lives. This book is written with laugh-out-loud humor, intense attraction, angst, and FINALLY – plenty of hot steamy times. Teagan Hunter has created a large cast of diverse, funny and interesting characters who move this story along in the best way to their HEA. I always love it when I feel like I’m reading about old friends. I can’t wait to read more about the people of the SLICE world. Recommend.
A single dad? DAMN YES. With his nanny? GIVE IT TO ME. Maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but I really like single dad books, so I had to read Doughn’t Let Me Go by Teagan Hunter.
The moment I’ve read about Porter, I needed his book so bad and it ended up exceeding all my expectations. Porter is the perfect dad and boyfriend. He is so fundamentally good, so sweet, especially with with his daughter, but also very very naughty… Dory (*keep swimming*) is so broken, but at the same time so perfect for that little family. I loved that she had goals and would do anything to achieve them, including working for the guy she just had a one-night stand with.
Kyrie is hilarious and is the best, so smart and so bossy, I fell in love with her. I loved how all the different characters interacted with her, especially uncle Foster who is never invited to the tea parties. I think sometimes the children in single dads story do not have a big importance in the book, but Kyrie is truly the star of Doughn’t Let Me Go.
I loved that the story was fairly low drama and was filled with such cute moments between those three, but with quite a few steamy moments when Kylie was asleep. So far, in my opinion, the Slice series gets better and better with each book and this one is at the moment my favourite, but I still have Cheesy on the Eyes to read.
Porter is ready to leave Los Angeles for a new start in a small town with his 7 year old daughter, Kyrie. However he is not ready to stop being a workaholic so he needs a nanny. Turns out the only qualified candidate in his new small town was his epic one night stand, Doris aka Dory who is 8 years younger than him. Age-gap, single dad, nanny troupe? Sign me up.
Porter and Kyrie’s relationship reminds me so much of me and my dad. Porter is an amazing father and I loved how he was with Kyrie – no secrets, always honesty, talked to her like an adult but still let her be a kid. Their banter was probably my favorite part of the book. Dory, I didn’t really connect with or truly understand her motivation to be a social worker or her hesitation with wanting more with Porter. It was explained but it seemed weak to me but not sure if that is accurately explaining it either. It just seemed off to me. But that didn’t mean that I didn’t love Porter and Dory together. They were funny and sweet and steamy. They were the perfect balance for each other. And then we got to see all aunties and uncles and those scenes were always a riot.
This is the 3rd title in the Slice series, and I’m telling you, you need to be reading this series, starting with Pizza My Heart.
When Foster’s best friend from California Porter moved to town with his seven year old daughter Kyrie, he knows that he’s going to need a live in nanny to help out. He runs a multimillion dollar security company that he founded, and it keeps him busy. It was easy when he lived in California, he’d just take his daughter to the office if need be and there’d be eyes on her. Now that he’s in North Carolina, he’s working from home, and can’t always keep an eye on his rambunctious daughter.
With Kyrie staying the night with Foster and his wife Wren, Porter heads out to Slice to grab a slice and a drink. Meeting a woman wasn’t in his plans, but he’s a roll with the punches kind of guy, sometimes.
Dory’s at Slice to grab a slice of Pepperoni Pizza and people watch. This is the first night off from her three jobs in a long time and she just needs to relax. When she sees the stranger at the bar that’s definitely overdressed, she’s curious. Plus, he looks about as stressed out as she feels. After a short chat, and lots and lots of flirting, they head back to Porters house.
The next day, Dory’s back at Slice for her interview for a nanny position. When she finds out that the person looking for a nanny is none other than her one night stand from the night before, she takes off. Porter goes after her and the chase is on. After convincing her to take the job, they come up with a plan of action. One that you know they’re not going to be able to stick with.
Ok, I’ve given you some of the beginning, but that’s it. Do you love single father romances? Rom-coms? Of course you do, or you wouldn’t be looking at the reviews for Ms. Hunters books. I’m telling you, you’ll love not only this book, but the entire series. The characters are charming, witty, real, and flawed. Just like all of Ms. Hunters characters. It’s one of the many reasons I love her books so much. The characters aren’t perfect. They’re real, honest, caring, and human. Everyone from the smaller characters like Mel, Simon, Sully, and Fran to the major characters like Wren, Drew, Winston, and Foster.
Read these books, blush a little bit, laugh out loud a lot, relax, and unwind with an amazing story.
**I read this title using my Kindle Unlimited subscription
I have been really enjoying this series of standalones. Now with that being said I have read them all and I love that because the previous and possible future characters show up in all the books. Not only are these characters tackling some issues with themselves and their love lives but there is comedy as well. I love books that are well rounded that way.
Porter and Dory both have experiences from the pasts that leave them hesitant to opening themselves up for more heartbreak but one is a tougher sell than the other. When they decide to just keep it to sex and leave feelings out of it that is just an opening for more and the journey is one that will have you sucked in and rooting for them to find their way.
This was another truly enjoyable book in the series and I really hope that Sully is next. I would definitely recommend this book!!!
This book is so amazing and it has one of my favorites tropes that is single dad so obviously I loved, dory is incredible, i loved her personality and how strong she is and porter is everything i hoped he would be and so much more, i love him and his relationship with his daughter and kyrie simply enchanted me. Teagan keeps feeding me, first with single mom and now single dad and I’m loving it!!
Another great book in the slice series! Single dad romances are one of my favorite tropes and this one lived up to my expectations. One of my pet peeves when authors write children into books is that they make their dialogue unbelievable or the children are there just as background characters that are just mentioned here and there in a story. Teagan Hunter gets it right in this book!! Kyrie is a sassy seven year old and is a part of the story and is believable seven year old!! This book had me laughing and craving milkshakes! If you want two main characters that have great chemistry from the beginning and a super fun sassy kid then this book is for you!
Was given an arc for an honest review
NO SPOILERS!
I loved Doughn’t Let Me Go! Teagan Hunter did an amazing job with Porter and Dory’s story, and I adored this sweet, hilarious, and swoon-worthy standalone romantic comedy. From the entertaining storyline, to the lovable and quirky characters, and finally to the author’s writing style and wonderful sense of humor, Doughn’t Let Me Go was a MUST READ, and I can’t wait to read the last Slice series novel, Cheesy on the Eyes!
I loved Dory and Porter. And Kyrie might be the coolest kid ever!! And Porter as a single dad? Talk about the swoon!!!
Also I’m totally cursing Teagan for making it that I will never hear the Cha Cha Slide the same way ever again
Work, work and more work is all Porter Jones knows how to do. The thing is people are noticing how much he needs to relax including his little girl Kyrie. At seven years old she has a mind of her own and boy is she the bossiest little girl ever but knows how to get her attention. He knows he needs help and boy is Dory more than a life savior. She is however the first woman to get his attention and it scares him. Work is all he knows but being with Dory is making him see that there is more to his life than working. Have to say that Teagan Hunter created a great combination between these two and then adding little Kyrie to the chemistry was awesome. I loved that these two deny the attraction yet cannot stop from kissing or even feeling it. Not only do we see Dory fighting the attraction but seeing the whole gang coming to help was beautiful for these two. All in all the Slice series is great cannot wait to see what is next.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Porter and Dory’s story was such a great read. It was emotional and funny and I didn’t want it to end. I loved all the characters, and their banter. Kyrie was so loving and sassy. I’ve read other books by Teagan, but I’m going to say this is my new favorite. Definitely the perfect 10.
Hot and Sexy! I’ve volunteered to review these book for United Indie Book Blog. This is my first time reading one of Teagan Hunter stories. Doughn’t Let Me Go is the third book in the Slice series. This is Porter and Dory story. When Dory first met Porter she thought it would be for one time only. Dory is trying to find a better job to help her finish her college education. Porter is a single dad, who is looking to hire a nanny for his amazing seven year old daughter. And Dory is just what the they need. I love the banter between Dory and Porter. the chemistry is OFF OF THE CHARTS!!!!! Now I need to go back and read the first two books in this series. I HIGHLY recommend this to EVERYONE! Keep up the amazing work!
4.5 Stars!
Being a fan of the Slice books I’ve been so excited for this one to be released! Once I started it I had to finish it in one sitting. It was exactly the kind of read that I needed In my life and oh how I loved it!
Dory and Porter’s journey hit me right in the chest! I couldn’t get of their realness and their banter! I loved how I found myself grinning and blushing so many times throughout reading.
Teagan Hunter has done it once again! Doughn’t Let Me Go is an unputdownable read filled with laughs and feels! The Slice books have become some of my favorite reads! I can’t wait for more of Ms.Hunter’s words!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
If there is one thing I can count on Teagan for, it’s never disappointing me with a story. She may denounce pineapple on pizza, but we can’t all be perfect.
Doughn’t Let Me Go, the third book in the Slice Series, might be my favorite yet; and if you know anything about my romance preferences it just goes to show how talented Teagan is in her craft.
Porter is a single father who rose from the bottom to stand on top, Dory is just trying to make ends meet while making her way in the world. Porter needs a nanny, Dory needs a job. The chemistry is instant and the struggle to keep things “professional ” will ultimately fall wayside to desire and those dreaded ‘feelings’ that always cause trouble.
By the time I finished, I wanted more- more Dory and Porter, more Kyrie (the too smart for her own good kidlet), more more more. Not because the story left me unsatisfied, but the complete opposite. I loved these characters so much I didn’t want to let them go (even when they made stupid silly decisions, and had moments of rubbish communication, ah character flaws- gotta love ’em).
Doughn’t Let Me Go left me with happy fluffy feelings and a big smile on my face. A little drama, well placed banter, plenty of passion and a wonderfully wrapped up HEA.
I loved seeing glimpses of our previous Slice couples, as well as Papa Simon and the one and only Sully- who is still my absolute favorite character we know NOTHING ABOUT. So, I’m waiting Teagan, I’m waiting ever so impatiently for my darling Sully.
AHH!! Doughn’t Let Me Go by Teagan Hunter was fabulous!!
Teagan is the master at writing romantic comedies. Whenever I am in the mood for one, it will never fail to pick up a book written by this amazing author. Doughn’t Let Me Go is yet another novel to add to this ever expanding list!
The amount of puns, and one-lines that are featured in this novel, will have your sides sore from laughing so much. Every single chapter had me dying with laughter. At some points, you won’t think it could get any better, and then, bam, it does. On the more serious side, this book was full of passion and heart. Porter and Dory are not just comedic characters. In fact, Teagan wrote them with so much depth and dimension, that you will truly understand who they are as people. You will become so wrapped up, and entwined in their storyline that you won’t be able to let it go. Add in the fact that Porter is a sexy, and caring single father, and you have one charismatic, and entertaining leading man.
I wish I could come up with some clever line like Teagan is known for writing to end this review, but I will just leave you with this: Pick up this novel, and you certainly won’t regret it, because it will leave you in the best mood.
5/5 Epic Stars!
The Slice series doesn’t disappoint! Quick, fun, flirty read with lots of heat and humor. Doughn’t Let Me Go is a perfect read to lift your mood.
When I read about Porter in a previous book, I knew I needed his story. I love the single dad trope and he seemed like a really interesting character I wanted to know more about. My wish was granted when I heard about Doughn’t Let Me Go! Teagan Hunter did not disappoint with this new story in the Slices series.
Porter is a single dad who hasn’t had it easy in his love life or childhood. He has been able to build up a company and is a workaholic. He’s definitely book boyfriend material and I loved how his daughter was his everything. That being said, Kyrie was such a cute character. I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing her get her own story in the future!
Dory is the nanny with her own difficult past who doesn’t really believe in love. She works hard and has such a huge heart. I wanted her to have her happily ever after from the start. Dory can be tough, but means well, even when she’s trying to protect her own heart. My favorite part of the book was seeing her slowly let down walls and let herself love. Even if I did want to yell at her and tell her to open her eyes, haha. That’s really just a compliment to this author’s writing, because that’s how invested I was in this story!
Doughn’t Let Me Go is kind of forbidden romance, but I loved the slowburn side of it. Yeah, there were feelings, but it took awhile for them to give in. It was a lot of fun to read about. This book defintiely had me laughing and I ended this book with a big smile on my face. Add some steamy moments and this definitely has all of the romantic comedy elements that I love and need in a book.
An added bonus was seeing all of the characters I’ve come to love from the previous books. They’re such a fun group of people and I don’t think I’ll ever have enough about them! I can’t wait for the next book Teagan Hunter writes!
