I loved this book. CiCi is perfect, Chad is every girl’s dream, Mark is in need of a woman, and the rest of the characters are people you would find interesting to meet. There are enough loose ends to make this into a series of mystery books with a few answers in each book. No foul language, no praying to the universe (like the universe has ears!) CiCi even goes to church! What’s not to love? No preachy, goody two shoes I’m case you were wondering. You are pulled into the story from the first sentence…

I almost didn’t read this book as it was described as wholesome…..Afraid it would be bland, too unrealistic, too sugary. This is a pure delight and the characters just pop off the page!
Adore Cici and her quick wit, love of baking when stressed, works hard but has great friends and a handsome guy, Chad. Chad happens to be a cop, which is a very good thing for Cici. Cici works for Floyd, Rex and Bruce and has learned appraising and has an accounting degree. At work she has Tasha, Julie, and Izzy as friends. Life is good after a tough divorce from Rich and her dad Jack staying away. But her mom died, she’s inherited money, and now Rich and Jack want it.
Then she finds Julie dead and next thing, she’s accused of murder. Dennis, her lawyer, and Chad protect her. But as Megan and other friends know, Cici feels the need to figure out why Julie was killed and if it was her the killer wanted dead.
You meet Pete, her helper, after her home is vandalized and she is injured. She gets upset and deals by baking enough food for an army. She is not a goody girl but an able woman that is a tad curious but totally believable..she doesn’t think she is indestructible or smarter or gung ho…she listens, goes over everything and figures things out. A missing thumb drive, blackmail, cheating spouses all come up in this town.
The book deals with family abuse in its many forms without sensationalizing it and the relationship between her Chad is shown in a realistic way.
Great plot, clues, red herring, blackmail, gossip, and love, respect, and doing the right thing. I can’t wait to read her second book. Her town and friends welcome you in, so settle in for a read….I was so involved I finished it in half a day
No gore, no extreme scares or violence but excellent plotting and people…5 stars cozy mystery
This is a great murder mystery story. I’d say it’s middle of the road between a cozy and a thriller. Lots of action some graphic violence but not over the top. What I really enjoyed most were the characters. Very well written thorough, flushed out, deep characters. CiCi aka Cecilia our protagonist is intelligent, kind, loving, brave I very much enjoyed reading about her exploits. Double Threat is a great start to a new series.
