Well, it happened again. Another murder and so many suspects! I just adore this series! Such awesome characters makes them so much fun to read. This time there were so many different leads to follow that, supposedly, ended in dead ends. But, there were some false alibis and other illegal things going on that just added to the whole mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed it. And not to forget to add, I want some boozy pie!

Sunshine Springs was gearing up for a mayoral race, that is until one of the candidates is found lying face down in the town fountain. Of course Izzy, the owner of Drunken Pie Cafe, is one of the first on the scene. She tries to stay out of it, but her curiosity gets the better of her. The rumour mill is up and running as it does in small towns. Lots of suspects, multitude of clues and interesting characters make this a great cozy mystery.
This is another great story by Diana DuMont in her series A Drunken Cafe mysteries. The characters are well crafted and if you have been reading the series, well known. They are interesting, kooky and eclectic, making them just perfect for a small town. The mystery was good, full of unexpected twists, surprising turns and suspense, keeping you interested until the murderer is found. It is well written as is the rest of the series. If you like cozy mysteries then give this one a try.
Deadly Politics!
Izzy is once again drawn into solving a murder case when her friend Alice Warner asks for her help to clear her name. Wonderfully written fast paced cozy mystery with a twist ending and sweet HEA. Enjoy!
I received an advance copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
Izzy James is not looking to get herself involved in another police investigation. However, when the cafe owner’s friend is accused of murdering a candidate for mayor by drowning him in the library’s new fountain, she can’t help but stick her nose into things.
Unfortunately, every turn that Izzy takes things seem to point to her friend and when she can’t get straight answers, even she begins to have some doubts.
This is a perfect mystery for a cozy fan. It has all the key elements; mystery, hijinks, amateur sleuth, adorable dog side-kick, quirky characters, and lots of twists and turns to the storyline. I highly recommend picking up a copy on your next trip to the bookstore.

Sunshine City is preparing for the mayoral elections. 2 candidates are vying for the votes. When one ends up dead in a fountain after a fight with one of Izzy’s friends, she has a difficult time to clear her name.
Like the other books in the series a good cozy, fun to read. Izzy is not so much of a detective as lucky in stumbling across relevant information. With a dangerous situation towards the end, the book provides an interesting storyline and is quite entertaining.

With the mayoral race heating up in Sunshine Springs, no expects murder to become the name of the game. When a beautiful evening at the library turns into a horror show, Izzy’s curious nature is once again peaked. Even though the holidays are approaching and Izzy’s cafe is as busy as ever, she can’t seem to stay away from the investigation. A small list of suspects should make things easy but changing situations and shifting alibis prove challenging. I love the cozy town and the wonderful relationships that Izzy has, both with friends and her grandmother. I absolutely adore her dog, Sprinkles, who loves to have his toes painted. I highly recommend this series and I’m looking forward to Izzy’s next adventure.

I haven’t read this author before but I really enjoyed this cozy. The characters were engaging and funny and the mystery was good. I don’t talk politics because it is crazy how people react and this book portrays that well. Will definitely check out more by this author.

After a resident left a huge donation to the library, Izzy’s best friend Molly, the head librarian, had thrown quite a number of celebrations to show off the new additions. Tonight’s party was to christen a giant water fountain that Molly had installed near the front of the library to encourage readers to sit outside and read while they enjoyed the California weather.
Trevor Truman was running for the mayor’s office in Sunshine Springs, and it looked like he had tasted a few extra glasses of champagne. Tiffany Glover commented that he sure knew how to work the crowd! Tiffany was Izzy’s newest addition at the Drunken Pie Café and had become a very dependable employee. With the holidays coming up, they could never have survived without her! Izzy’s Grams came up to comment that Trevor was too pompous and argumentative to win the election. To prove it, Grams pointed at him as he angrily stormed toward Alice Warner, the owner of the Morning Brew Café. The two of them were face to face, arguing loudly. He threatened to shut down her café if he won the election. Then they shoved each other and Sheriff Mitch McCoy suddenly appeared.
Despite Mitch holding them back, Alice threw the contents of her champagne glass in Trevor’s face. Trevor took a swing at her face, but Mitch grabbed his fist. Trevor then tried to chase after her to the restroom, but Mitch stopped him. When his campaign manager ran over to him, the two left. Grams commented that Alice and Trevor had been fighting all week, apparently about the legality of selling homemade chocolate to boost revenue! Grams said her prices were too low and she had been spending her savings to keep going. So Trevor’s interference was not welcomed. Izzy saw Cody, Trevor’s campaign manager, run from the direction of the restrooms looking pale and upset. He grabbed and drank a full glass of champagne, then left. Trevor came out and ran off in the opposite direction. Before Izzy could comment, Molly ran up and grabbed her arm, wanting to talk privately to her. Before Izzy commented about Molly’s hopeful news, they were interrupted by someone else running toward them – a very panicked Norman Wade, the current city mayor, wringing his hands! He found a dead body, bobbing face-down in the fountain!
Once again, we are presented with a clever mystery! The characters the reader meets, such as Grams and the other townspeople, are fun and quirky, letting the reader feel surrounded by old acquaintances. In this story, Izzy refuses to stand around while one of her best friends is accused of murder, despite Mitch demanding that she let him handle this, so she jumps right into the middle of things again. Who is the real culprit who murdered Trevor and why? The story line is well-paced and clever, encouraging the reader to follow along and find out the murder’s identity. Grab your copy and enjoy the pursuit in this awesome cozy mystery!
Izzy just can’t stand that her friend is accused of killing a couple of mayoral candidates. Even though she has been told by Evan to stay out of it, she just can’t help herself. She goes around asking questions, and getting people all rivaled up, but can she find the real killer? Enjoy the quirky characters and of course Izzy and her dalmatian dog as they go around to prove her friend is innocent. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from Booksprout.
Izzy cannot stand by and just watch when one of her best friends is accused of murder. Although Mitch tells her to stay out of it, she shakes up the town asking tough questions. The suspects on her list seem to get eliminated, leaving Izzy stymied. Double Fudge Drowning is an exciting mystery with enjoyable characters.

Especially in a small town, politics can be lethal. A mayoral race is proving particularly tricky for Izzy and her town as greedy politicians and residents with wacky demands and expectations battle things out in a lethal race.
