I highly recommend this book! This was both a new author & series to me & I am so happy I got to read this.I try to do my reviews by listing Pros, then cons, then a bottom line. Truthfully, I have no cons with this book!. I loved the little sayings at the start of each chapter. I loved Cambria’s little “note to self” comments.
The characters were great. Cambria & Kevin have a great friendship. Very real. Their banter rings so true. I know Kevins! Mr. & Mrs. Nguyen are good characters too. Cambria has a good support system between the Nguyens & Kevin. And everybody talks like real people. The secondary characters, like David, were well fleshed out too. I also love that she eats junk & isn’t a gourmet chef.
This was a unique setting, & Cambria has a unique job for a cozy. But, it’s very real. I live in a MH Park ( I’ve lived in several) & they are very much like the apt. complex Cambria manages. The author knows her subject.
Bottom line= This was a book that when I wasn’t reading it I was looking forward to when I could get back to it. I’ve already put the 1st book on my wish list for next month. I would recommend this book to any cozy fan, or anybody who wants a fun, enjoyable read.
Thank you so much to Hidden Gems for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a fun cozy mystery! A new author for me, and a new series. It worked fine as a stand-alone, but I do want to go back for more Cambria Clyne! The apartment manager job, and skilled writing, provide for many laugh out loud moments. Cambria juggles crazy tenants, an adorable young daughter, and a penchant for trouble. She is kind hearted and maybe interferes too much where she shouldn’t, but the adventures are so entertaining! She has a boyfriend in the delightful LAPD detective Chase and her daughter’s baby daddy is interested in getting back together. What to do?!
As for the mystery, it is well developed and kept me guessing. Cambria put the pieces together throughout the story and the details were well woven together and revealed at a nice pace. There are plenty of associated parts of the story, lots of characters, and a satisfying resolution. This is a winner, I’m glad I picked this one up!
This fourth book in the Cambria Clyne Mystery series by Erin Huss was one of the most entertaining cozy mystery stories I have read in a long time. Cambria, the main character, is one of the least likely sleuths ever. And, those notes to herself, just about make the book all by themselves, except when combined with the actions taken, really make the book come alive and entertain the reader. Not having read any of the prior books in the series did not create any drawbacks for reading this book, as there were only a few mentions of prior issues. However, I will certainly be adding them to my TBR file. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
I love this cozy mystery series. Cambria Clyne is a neurotic, germaphobe, over thinking apartment manager with a small daughter, baby daddy, and detective boyfriend who also has a tendency of finding dead bodies. The characters who live in the apartment complex are crazy enough to drive her to stress eat ice cream and occasionally question her sanity.
The story was funny, snarky, suspenseful and complex. The primary and secondary characters were well developed and addictive. Highly recommend the book and series.
LOL cozy mystery with wonderful, quirky characters: te-r-r-ific! Give me more Cambria, please

Cute, zany and hilarious escapades in property management with murderous mayhem and single mother building manager Cambria in the center of it all! I’ve read all three books in the series this far and they just keep getting better. Cambria’s tiny daughter Lilly is now a willful three year-old who, IMO, steals every scene she is in. Cambria’s frustrating interactions with tenants with attitude are priceless. Plus, she’s “torn between two lovers” and caught up in luxury apartment building envy, all while getting embroiled in the mystery of a fellow building manager’s disappearance.
Author Erin Huss has created a fun, quirky, cozy mystery with a good hearted heroine that was delightful from beginning to end. Loved it and can’t wait for Cambria’s further adventures!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Single mom and apartment manager Cambria can’t seem to keep her nose out of danger. When she gets a call from a resident at the complex next to hers asking for help, she finds herself unable to say no. What she soon discovers in a missing apartment manager (Violet) and lots of strange going on. Did Violet find herself in the middle of a robbery gone bad? Is she in hiding because of something she did or saw? Cambria decides she not only must help to run the property next door with a ditzy assistant manager, but she must also aid in the investigation that Hamilton has been left in charge of.
This is a laugh out loud madcap adventure that only Cambria can find herself in. If you love funny mysteries with quirky characters and lots of adventure, then this book must definitely be added to your to be read pile.
“Double Fudge & Danger” earns 5/5 Tango Twists…Clever and Entertaining!
There is so much to love about this series, and starting with the third book was fine for this newbie. Cambria Clyne and several residents are enjoying their friend Amy’s participation in Celebrity Tango, but emergencies have ruined the evening. A major water link should put Cambria on high alert, but the caller on the emergency line is not a resident. She lives in up-scale complex next door, but their manager Violet Pumpkin is not answering her phone! But Cambria gets a call from one of her own residents, scared about a burglar on her patio…now on the roof! There’s a 9-1-1 call, first responders, and an odd misunderstanding. Ms. Water Leak calls again. The ceiling is…crash! Violet is still MIA, and when Cambria learns Violet turns out to be living in the upstairs apartment, Cambria goes to check it out. Door unlocked. Purse and phone on counter. Tub overflowing. Blood on the window sill. Violet is missing! But, Cambria discovers to others her friend may not have been so friendly.
Erin Huss has a delightful writing style, well-paced, and accented by clever, snarky, or “just a nice giggle” little phrases introducing each chapter. She created quite the eclectic group of residents in this complex that would try anyone’s patience, but they rely on each other like family. There are two handsome men with their eye on her adding some romantic entanglement. With a delightful first-person narrative sharing Cambria’s inner thought, Erin includes a witty banter and vivid descriptions. Despite some flaws and worries, Cambria has an admirable inner strength, clever repartee, and great mothering instincts she applies to more than her three-year-old daughter. Fun. I high recommend this series, and starting with Double Fudge & Danger is a great place to start.
This light-hearted mystery was super-fun to read. Cambria is a heroine I can really get behind. She’s witty, self-deprecating, and kind of a mess, but she’s also good-hearted and smart. The plot clipped along at a good pace. The characters were vibrant and real. I especially liked the tone of the book. I was very much reminded of the TV show “Psych” as I was reading; it had that clever-but-not-serious vibe to it that I really love (the 3 year old’s temper tantrum in Vietnamese about killed me). This is the first of the series that I have read, but the author smartly does not make arcane references; she mentioned just enough that made me want to go back and buy the previous two (which I did). Also, having worked at an 840-unit apartment complex, I can verify that everything Cambria says about property management and tenants is absolutely true! A delightful series that I am glad to have found. I received a digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first book by Erin Huss and so the first I’ve read of the Cambria Clyne mysteries. I didn’t feel like I couldn’t follow because of not reading the prior books in the series, which was great. It was a good mystery from the start about this character that manages an apartment complex while raising her daughter alone. Great plot and attention getter!
In Double Fudge & Danger Cambria Clyne’s life as an apartment manager continues its ditsy journey through mayhem. The apartment manager for the complex next door to Cambria’s has gone missing. With an overflowing bathtub, an open window, etc., Cambria is very concerned about Violet’s survival. The story sparkles with zany apartment dwellers as Cambria plunges headlong into the case. You will not want to miss this mystery.
