“[A] magic kingdom of Victorian murder and intrigue.”—The New York Times Book Review Thomas Pitt is now the powerful head of Britain’s Special Branch, and some people fear that he may have been promoted beyond his abilities. His own self-doubt is fueled by rumors of a plot to blow up connections on the Dover-London rail line, on which Austrian duke Alois Habsburg is soon to travel. But why … Habsburg is soon to travel. But why destroy an entire train to kill one obscure Austrian royal? Are the rumors designed to distract police from an even more devastating plot? Meanwhile, in a London sickroom, an old Italian woman is terrified that as she sinks into dementia, she may divulge secrets from her career as a revolutionary spy. And behind the doors of a stately manor, a beautiful young Croatian woman hoards mysteries of her own. Pitt and his clever wife, Charlotte, need these two fascinating women to tell them things they desperately need to know—before death and terror ignite an international catastrophe.

I enjoy reading Ms. Perry’s books very much. She gives life to her characters and the details are vivid. I have read all the books in this series and others as well.
It was very suspenseful and very enjoyable for the time it was set in.
Very confusing. Too many characters whose motives and actions were unclear to me.
All of the Anne Perry books are wonderful, including this one. The plot keeps the reader guessing and the characters are wonderfully drawn.
I really enjoy all books by this author.
I’m a sucker for Anne Perry’s mysteries, and Dorchester Terrace is no exception.
Anne Perry has such a wonderful way of bringing the Victorian alive. She weaves a gripping story that I find hard to put down and can’t wait for the next novel.
I have enjoyed all of her books that I have read so far. They are set in England at the turn of th 19th century. It is fascinating how different life was just a 120 years ago. Love the plot twists and turns
I have to admit that I love every book Anne Perry writes. For characters are very believable and very compelling and you feel like you’re on a journey with all of them. I’m always anxious want to new one comes out to get my hands on it as quickly as possible. They are best read in sequence.
I love Ann Perry everything that she writes is excellent and thought provoking.
It’s Anne Perry – what can I say? I’ve followed Thomas and Charlotte Pitt from Book One. Dread the end of the series. It just gets better and better. Perry evokes Victorian England with all it’s foibles as if she lived there. The characters are so real. Sleep less night ahead when a new book comes out!
Anne Perry’s books are all entertaining…Victorian London insights with detective fiction that keeps the pages turning.
I have already written a comment.
Interesting not just for the suspenseful situation involving the main character but also for the family drama in a historical Victorian era.
Another excellent addition to this series
Good mystery
I have enjoyed all of the Pitt novels and this one continues the story as Thomas moves up in society due to his new job.
I am a ‘fan’ of Anne Perry’s Thomas Pitt series. I like reading stories from the second half of 19th century England. These stories seem to capture the essence of England at that time in history, and often describe the plight of the poor in vivid, lurid details of the squalor they endured. Charlotte Pitt, despite her affluent upbringing, …
Anne Perry is a master at evoking the Victorian age.
Anne Perry’s books take you into the dark side of the Victorian era as seen through the eyes of Thomas Pitt and his wife Charlotte. Dorchester Terrace does not disappoint. Just when you think you have solved the crime, the criminal and the motive is a surprise.
