Doppelbanger; A person who bangs someone solely because they look similar to another person they want to bang. At thirty-five, Gina Bourque is still playing the field. If he’s single, in his early twenties with dark hair and brooding eyes, there’s a damn good chance you’ll find him in her little black book. Jeffrey Ryan never imagined that at nearly forty he’d find himself widowed and a single … widowed and a single dad. But here he is—stumbling through this thing called life with two impressionable daughters watching his every move.
When Gina and Jeffrey meet while cruising the Caribbean, sparks fly and not in a good way. He’s too old. Too blond. Too stiff. Yet she’s still drawn to him like a moth to a flame. She’s too vulgar. Too sassy. Too wild. But she ignites something inside of him he can’t ignore.
We all know what happens when you play with fire. . . someone’s bound to get burned.

I just had the best ab workout reading this book! Heather M. Oregon has the ability to make crazy, insane situations a possibility. I cannot tell you how many times I lost my breath laughing. And I will just gloss over the time I almost peed myself… Perhaps I shouldn’t mention, my new fear of certain animals. But the best part of the crazy in Doppelbanger, is that it is family.
Doppelbanger is a standalone but it isn’t. It features the characters from Boomerangers but in a whole new light…okay not new, just brighter. It’s shining directly on Gina. The best friend and super mom helper that we should all be jealous of!
The hijinxs and general bedlam that occurs in Gina’s life begs you to read it. It is worthy every ache you get from laughing so hard!

Wonderfully written, laugh out loud hilarious, fantastic dialogue, and heartfelt emotions – this one has it all. Jeffrey and Gina are so good together. Mr Straight-laced CEO and the sassy sex therapist somehow balance each other out and it just works and makes for some fun, steamy times. In addition to our lovable main characters, we have friends who don’t care to call it like they see it, some teenagers dealing with hormones and getting into a bit of trouble to keep the grownups busy, and a couple of toddlers that kept me in stitches with their questions and observations. So, we have a couple that is just so darn good together, you have to root for them, plus loads of other quirky characters that are every bit as interesting as our couple. Then, we have the comedy side of this one. I was laughing from the first chapter and the more I read, the harder I laughed. It’s a great blend of slapstick, sass, and sarcasm, but the beauty of it is it’s done so well that even during the emotional times – yes, there are some of those – there’s the perfect amount of levity to keep things from getting too heavy. From start to finish, this one is everything a great romantic comedy should be.
5 ” Horny Tears” stars
I laughed at the first chapter, I laughed at the next one, I laughed at the antics, i laughed rolling on the floor, then I laughed some more !!.
It’s a total comedy-fest with so many feels thrown in, I was wondering at the tears. Mirth and emotions, all bundled up so beautifully in this slapstick comedy of opposite attractions.
They could be in different situations, lives, worlds, but they’d still be attracted to each other so powerfully, because they are meant to be.
What she lacks in life, he provides, what his life has a missing link, she conjoins.
He is a very Chris Hemsworth type, CEO Jeffery. A struggling single dad of two young girls.trying to deal with teen tantrums and a kiddie princess. His hands, nights, life is overwhelmingly full.
He meets a sex therapist, open like all outdoors- Gina Bourque, on a cruise. Gina is very clear in her goals in life. No strings attached, no feelings sprouting, hot cougar sex and she’s free and clear in the morning !
The kids fall for each other, the adults try NOT TO fall for each other.
Man Proposes; God Disposes
“The girl done went and got schtickstruck.”
what we see is hilarious situations, some laugh out loud moments, some very knee slapping scenes. I was constantly laughing.
I fell in love with the bumbling CEO. His daughter willow is adorable…..omg I wanted to pull her cheeks.
Gina’s Godsons are handsome, smarta$$es and savage. they’ve just discovered puberty and all its fringe benefits and they’re so full of themselves, it’s hysterical !
“Its Trail Of Tears .One day when some lucky lady, whoever she may be, gets her eyes on what I’m packin’… There will be tears of joy, or pain .”
The BEST COUPLE award goes to Willow & Savage
I’m telling you, y’all NEED to read this smartly written story. You’ll pee yourself laughing so hard. And it also touches you deep in your heart. Written exceedingly well, I couldn’t put it down
“ No one’s ever touched me like that,” I admit, squirming a little.
“With a finger?”
“With their heart.”

4.5 Stars
Doppelbanger is the second book in the Cajun Girls series. This is Gina’s story who is best friends with Spencer from the first book.
Gina is pretty funny and you never know what she is going to say next. She’s a very laid-back, open-minded single woman, who has no problem going after what and/or who she wants. She doesn’t do relationships, but has easy flings with no strings attached. Jeffrey is a handsome, widowed father of two beautiful daughters. He’s still in love with his wife, and has no plans of ever entering into another relationship.
When Gina and Jeffrey first meet, they kinda butt heads and snap at each other. However there was no disguising the attraction they shared, so it was no surprise when they acted on it. There are some bumps in the road and hurt feelings, but there were also some sexy and funny times as well. When Gina’s nephews, Landon and Kyle a/k/a Savage, and Jeffrey’s daughters, Evangeline and Willow, were all on the cruise, there were a number of laugh out loud scenes. The kids sometimes acted a little older than their ages, but it was all in fun so it worked.
This was an amusing romantic comedy with great characters, both main and secondary, and a sweet happy ending. It’s an easy book to read and I enjoyed it very much.
From the start the sexual tension between the headcharachters was really hot but they got to know each other discovering there is more than sexual attraction between them.
The sexy times were hot! No, not just hot, panty melting hot!
This is a hilarious romcom will have you crying with laughter. Especially the interactions between the adults but also with the children are hilarious.
I have to warn you, the heroine in this story is something else. She is crude, sexually open and she is 35 but acts like she is 21.
I know it will turn people off but it didn’t bother me that much.
If you are in need of a hot, sexy, sweet, emotional, light hearted story, this is one for you.
This one really stuck with me – so funny but at the same time heart-wrenching and sexy.
Whew, steamy!
Lemme go get a bucket of water here! This book was nothing short of amazing. While the first book was more humor, this one was more steamy. Hot-single dad? Umm yes please! This whole book was swoon worthy and I just felt my entire self melting as the book went on. The perfect fairytale.
If you like some humor and a lot of single dad, this book is for you! I’m sad to see the end of these characters, they were wonderful.
6 out of 5 Stars!!
Jeff is a single dad with a teenage daughter a 3 yr old daughter.
Gina is single, having fun with younger studs and caring for her 3 godsons.
These two together make things interesting and add in the kids and you need to prepare for laugh out loud entertainment.
OMG the stuff that happens in this book you can’t even believe, weird with totally bad luck which makes it extremely hilarious!
I think this is the most bizarre events I’ve ever read.
Add in a smart 4 year old and 3 year old and you will die! The ending?? Couldn’t be more perfect! I seriously recommend this series to everyone!!!
Hilarious, heartwarming, sweet and sexy, just what I needed.
First impressions of Gina, she’s outgoing, crass, a bit of a slut, loves her alcohol and having a good time, at the root of her though she’s a woman with feelings just like anybody else, she’s fun-loving, a fantastic auntie to Spencer’s kids and a woman who just wants to be loved.
When Spencer Ginas best friend has her twins, Gina offers to take her two favorite little people on a cruise to give Spencer and Cooper a chance to settle in with the new additions to the family.
Jeffery is a single dad who lost his wife after the birth of his youngest daughter.
Jeffery is protective of his two girls so when he first meets Gina with the mouth of a sailor with Spencer’s two kids who seem to have bonded with his girls and hit it off there’s a whole lot of trouble, push and pull and sexual attraction.
Gina, in a nutshell, gets this stuffy CEO baby daddy to lighten up a little, let his hair down.
A holiday romance that becomes more.
Hilarious at times, oh the one-liners, the kids and some of the scenes had me barking and my heartfelt for Jeffery who was struggling to move on after the death of his wife. So bittersweet.
Loved it. I definitely want to read more like this.

The beginning chapters of this book were the funniest words I have ever read. The things that happened to and between Jeffrey and Gina were so funny. The story itself was really heartwarming with some series topics that were addressed in a loving way. The kids and secondary characters were awesome and of course there was a happily ever after. Perfect combination of humor, romance and angst.
A hilarious read that will have you laughing in no time but also has a serious note to it that makes this book the perfect balance! I thought Gina was such a loving character and so outspoken but there’s something about her that, even though with her sassy personality, you can’t help but love her. It was my first read by this author but I already know it won’t be my last one.
Gina is a 35 year old single woman that doesn’t want anything other than a one-night stand. When going on a cruise with her Godsons, she just wants to let loose and live life to the fullest. When she first meets Jeffrey, there’s a spark between them but they get off on the wrong foot. On the cruise they seem to run into each other every single time and it’s getting harder to ignore the attraction they have… Jeffrey has lost his wife a couple of years ago and is trying the best he can to take care of his two daughters but it’s not easy. Being on the cruise and not trying to be tempted by Gina, it’s getting harder to deny the pull he has towards her but the week flies by so fast and they go back to their own lifes. But life just throws you some curveballs and when by chance they meet again, they’ll take a decision that will change everything. Although both don’t want anything serious, it’s getting harder to deny their feelings for one another. Will Gina and Jeffrey take a chance on each other?…
After a couple of very emotional reads I really wanted a Rom Com to lighten my mood and Doppelbanger was recommended to me. Honestly I can’t remember the last time I read a book where I couldn’t hold my laughter in and had to dry my eyes because of the tears. This book was so funny and there were moments of comedy brilliance that I couldn’t control myself even when I tried. The hubby didn’t quite appreciate the humour when I woke him through laughing so loud at 2:30am 😉 There was no other outcome to the scene I had just read.
This is my first book by this author and it won’t be the last. I loved the humour, the characters, the story line…. everything about it to be truthful. An absolute must read in my opinion.
Heather M. Orgeron I FREAKING love this book!! Doppelbanger was everthing I wanted and more. I laughed, swooned, cried, and laughed some more. It was the perfect amount of romance and comedy with a little bit of angst thrown it. It’s just fantastic!
I have been so excited for Gina’s book, I could not wait to get more Savage! I love that kid! The things that come out of his mouth are down right hilarious and I just can’t get enough. Add in a cute little blonde girl and it just gets better.
For me Heathers books are so relatable because all of her characters feel very real. Every book of Heathers that I’ve read I feel like I know the characters and that these aren’t just characters in a book, they are real people. These are real problems that real people go through. I love stories that you can really get into and feel apart of and this is definitely one of those books. Gina is very relatable to me because of some of the things I deal with in my life, I could relate to her struggles. I felt her pain and understood how she feels so I connected with her character immediately. I also am in love with the wild and crazy things she says and how much love she has to give to everyone around her.
Then there is Jeff, I adored how much he loves his girls and really loved watching his character grow throughout the book. I liked the lightbulb moment when he realizes its okay to love again and that he is in love. He’s the perfect match for Gina, he is the calm to her storm. They balance eachother out perfectly. I really enjoyed watching both of them fall in love.
I truly loved everything about this book, but I especially loved the extended Epilogue. OMG I need more of that!!
Overall I am really impressed with this book, the writing and story line is great, and the characters are fantastic. I cant wait to see what Heather comes out with next.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A great read – a laugh out loud story with the happy ending.
I loved this book, it was at times laugh out loud funny, but sweet, sexy, heart warming and emotional too. I loved Gina, she was a wonderful, crazy, beautiful mix and did wonders for Jeff, who was so lost at the beginning. The kids were hilarious but the star of the show was Kyle aka Savage. He was an absolute hoot! That extra epilogue….haha just perfect!
I needed a good chuckle and this book delivered, I’ll definitely be reading more from Heather M Orgeron – 5 baby gun monkey stars!!
This book was so funny. I really loved it. Some of the scenes has me laughing so hard I had tears. Please tell me Savage gets a book.
I did a stupid thing. It’s a stupid thing I’ve done before, and I’ve told myself that I’d never do it again, but…yeah, here we are.
I bought the book because the guy on the cover looks a little Chris Hemsworth, OK? I can’t help it! I adore Chris Hemsworth. He’s gorgeous, he’s funny, and there’s always pictures out there of him being a great dad. He’s perfect in every way. Sadly, the hero in this book, Jeff, is no Chris Hemsworth. Not even close.
First of all, let’s talk about the title of this book. What’s with all the “provocative” titles in romance these days? Does everything have to have sex right there in the title? I’m all for sex in my romance novels, but Jesus, things are just getting a little obvious lately. Can’t we be at all coy?
Now, for my OTHER problems with the book:
1. I’m all for a sexually liberated heroine who goes after what she wants, but Gina was a little bit too aggressive even for my liking. I’m not going to slut shame (ever), but if she was a real person, I’d have serious concerns for her safety. It’s a dangerous world. You can’t just bang tons of complete strangers these days and expect to stay safe (and STD free) for long. And when two people who claim to bang whoever they want whenever they want and never “catch feelings” decide to bang without a condom? I get icked out. Very, very icked out. There’s WAY worse things to catch than feelings, folks.
2. Jeff is a judgemental prick. There’s no way around it. He’s a stick-up-butt, boring, rude asshat. The only thing he has going for him is his “wondercock”, and the fact that he actually refers to his penis as his “wondercock” (I’m not even making that up. I wish I was) only makes me hate him even more.
3. There are no “kids’ clubs” that are open from 10pm to midnight. So while it’s convenient that Jeff and Gina can drop the kids off at this mystery club at all hours of the night, it’s certainly far from realistic and had my bullshit meter going off like crazy.
4. The comedy isn’t smart comedy. It’s silly and/or gross, slapstick fare. There’s the time the heroine vomits with her mouth full of, um, something very sensitive that belongs to the hero (spoiler alert: it’s his penis), then there’s the time a dolphin attempts to rape the hero (again, not even making that up, though I SERIOUSLY wish I was), then there’s the time the heroine pees her pants in front of everyone…yeah, that shit’s only funny if you’re a 10-year-old boy. (I should know. I have the sense of humor of a 12-year-old boy, and the comedy in this book was WAY beneath me, which is sad, especially since I still giggle hysterically at fart jokes.)
5. There’s nothing remotely sexy or romantic about the sex scenes. It’s just a lot of pounding and banging. It reads like it was rejected material from some dude’s letter to Penthouse.
6. Jeff calls his daughter, Evangeline, Vange. This could just be me, but that nickname is dangerously close to “Vag”, which made me do a double-take every time I saw it on the page.
All that was enough to make me DNF. I’m sure Gina and Jeff got that crap together at some point. I just didn’t care enough to stick around to read about it.
But to the cover dude, I say, nicely done, sir. Nicely done. It’s not your fault that your image graces a book unworthy of your Chris Hemsworth-ness. I forgive you.
Jeffrey is a single father raising two girls on his own ever since his wife passed away. Doing the best he can, his main goal is to not mess his children up, or at least any worse than losing their mother already has. Meeting Gina and her nephews while on a cruise was probably the worst thing he ever could have done. Not only is one of her nephews making out with his teenage daughter, his youngest daughter says she’s going to marry the savage five year old. Oh no, not on his watch. His daughters are going to live with him until they are at least thirty. And when he meets Gina, he begins to understand why the boys are so out of control, she barely looks over age herself, and she’s a sex therapist to boot! Nope, nope, nope. No matter how attractive Jeffrey finds the little sprite, he refuses to give in to his urges. Even when she prescribes him all the orgasms he can handle on a prescription note no less.
Gina has a certain type of man she sleeps with. She doesn’t date because she doesn’t do relationships, but she does like sex. When she meets Jeffrey while on the cruise, she can’t explain why she’s pulled to him because he does not fit into her type at all, but when she gets an itch, she needs to scratch it. She never expected to feel the pull over and over again, but she also wasn’t one to deny scratching her itch. When she begins to feel things for the man who fell out of her doppelbanger zone she doesn’t understand how to back out of a non-relationship when she technically isn’t in one, but sort of is. Maybe it’s just gas and whatever she’s feeling will go away. Maybe she just needs to get back out there again and go back to her regular dopplebanger diet, but what happens when all you want is a cranky, single dad who doesn’t seem to want you back?
LOL funny! Dopplebanger contained so many comical moments I did begin to wonder if they really happened either to the author or to someone she knew. Practically every moment on the page that the heroines spent with children, and there were numerous pages that contained these very moments, were riddled with adorable laughter. The little ones especially would have made me want to hide under a rock with the “no filter” stuff that pops out of their mouths, but since they are not my children it is literally the funniest stuff to read, ever.
The laughs don’t stop there. Jeffrey is comical in his overly protective “dad” ways, even in the moments he spends with Gina. Their instant dislike for each other, yet hot chemistry making for a hate-love relationship that will singe the pages is sneaky in the way Heather Orgeron suddenly gives us feelings for two people who shouldn’t have feelings for each other. That was never part of the plan. Too bad things don’t always go according to plan.
Dopplebanger is a fun, LOL read filled with a lot of heart.
5 GUSHY STARS! ~~
An ERR Top Pick!
What do you get when you have one seriously uptight single dad whose path collides with a sassy, potty mouthed sex therapist on the High Seas? Hi-jinks and laughter and sexy sparks galore!
DOPPELBANGER is all kinds of wonderful! And one of myABSOLUTE FAVE reads this year, which is saying a lot because, in all honesty, I am a bit picky about my rom-coms. Okay…a LOT picky! They need to have a winning blend of sparkling humor, steamy passion and warm, gooey feels to float my boat, and this fetching tale has all that and MORE!!!
Holy cow…this is my first ever book by the gloriously talented Heather M. Orgeron and she has some serious writing chops. Her comic timing is PITCH-PERFECT, but her prose is also interlaced with stunning depth and bittersweet poignancy, and I had as many tummy clenching feels as I did side-splitting belly laughs! From start to finish, I just had the GOOFIEST grin on my face, my heart went pitter patter in my chest, and the lol funny banter and slapstick humor was so hysterical I nearly tinkled! And yup, I shed some big, fat tears too!
As for the romance, well, they say opposites attract, and these MCs are PROOF POSITIVE! The chemistry between Gina and Jeffrey CRACKLES from page one, and despite their stark differences, they are pure magic together!
It’s pretty rare for me to worship the heroine as much as the hero, but in Gina’s case she is prime best girlfriend material! This tiny blonde “Harlot” is wild and crazy, ballsy and blunt, irreverent and fun-loving, and has such a HUGE MARSHMALLOW HEART! I just floved her! And since I am NOT a fan of snarky, hard-to-get heroines, I like that “Auntie Gigi” is the antithesis of all that. Sure she is sassy and speaks her mind (sometimes to everyone else’s consternation—ha-ha) but she makes no secret of how much she “enjoys” men (typically younger, commitment-phobic hotties, hence the “cougar” label). But then the “older” and way too staid CEO Jeffrey Ryan and his darling daughters enter her orbit…and it’s a TOTAL GAME-CHANGER!
And as much as she wants to deplore the hot, sexy widowed dad for his rude, standoffish ways—and for initially trying to keep her and her beloved godkids at arm’s length–Gina’s insatiable attraction to Jeffrey is impossible to ignore. And OVARY EXPLOSION alert! When Gina catches a glimpse of her “nemesis” acting so sweet and tender with his “baby girls,” who can blame her from gravitating toward –and shamelessly propositioning –the big, blond Adonis?
Gah! Jeffrey is guaranteed to melt your heart AND your panties! But Alpha hotness aside, his life has certainly not been a walk in the park. I hurt so bad for all the poor guy’s been through after tragically losing his wife. He’s just so broken inside but then “Tink” blows into his world like a tornado, turning his carefully controlled life upside down.
And HOLY SMOKES…once these two hornballs surrender to their red-hot lust, they sure find some creative ways to get it on when the kids are not underfoot! But yikes…then the sh*t really hits the fan when they break their cardinal rule and actually start to “catch feelings” for one another!
Ultimately, the journey this dynamic duo embarks on is wickedly sexy and oodles of fun, deeply moving and beautifully uplifting. And yes there are definitely some hurdles to overcome, but together they become the best versions of themselves! Gina not only teaches Jeffrey how to loosen up, but shows him how to live—and LOVE—again, and the way she bonds so sweetly with his precious girls turned me into a BLUBBERY mess! Whereas, Jeffrey makes his Pix feel beautiful and cherished and proves once and for all that she is SO NOT damaged goods!!
As for the young’uns —Vangie, Willow, Lake, Landon and Kyle are the TRUE STARS of this show imo. (#TeamSavageall the way!) The endearingly innocent and saucy things that come out of their mouths are just a friggin RIOT. And hmmm…do I see some future romantic hookups in the works? Stay tuned!
(But in the meantime, I will dive straight away into the companion novel BOOMERANGERS, featuring Gina’s bff Spencer who reconnects with her high school sweetheart Cooper. While technically BOOMERANGERS comes first, both books totally stand alone and can be read in any order.)
FINAL VERDICT:
I truly cannot gush enough about DOPPELBANGER! The narrative flows beautifully, the story is fast-paced with lots of spicy romance and heartwarming family time, and has just the right amount of outrageous humor, emotion-packed drama and swoony feels to keep me breathlessly flipping the pages! And that HEA? Utterly breathtaking —MAJOR WATERWORKS, folks–with a bonus extended epilogue from Savage’s POV that had me squealing in delight! Fingers crossed he gets a story of his own someday!
Bottom line? Heather M. Orgeron is definitely an author to watch and is now officially on my auto buy list!! Cannot wait to see what this amazingly versatile author has in store for us next!
