Amy Young runs The Purple PolkaDot bakery like a well-oiled machine and is not about to let anything or anyone stand in the way of her success—especially not the smug, oh-so-panty-dropping Tanner ‘Moose’ Mason. He thought she would succumb to his smooth Cajun charms at a snap of his delicious, enticing fingers, but Amy refuses to be another cupcake or his specialty for the day. Tanner Mason has … Mason has met his match in Amy Young. After one night of ecstasy, he craves the beautiful albeit bashful pastry chef even more than her mouth-watering chocolate delicacies. He tasted the sugary sweetness she hides from others and won’t settle until Amy faces the fact that she belongs with him.
A well-orchestrated encounter arranged by their friends knocks them out of the safe rut they’ve both been stuck in. Finally, Moose has the chance he’s been waiting for and starts his relentless pursuit. Anything goes. He’s on a mission to once again have Amy in his arms, and this good ‘Ol’ Cajun Boy’ will stop at nothing to make her his own.

“Undeniably. Irrevocably, she is my home.”
One perfect night together was all it took for Tanner and Amy to fall in love with each other. One problem, neither of them can seem to come out and admit it was great to each other. Tanner started out as a regular at her bakery. Each day they banter and build a rapport and eventually end up spending this one great evening together. Now a year later, after hearing Tanner mention another woman the night after they had that great night and they are still dancing around each other. Will they be able to sort it out and find that happily ever after? Or will they be too afraid to talk about their true feelings?
“You are either fearless or crazy; I haven’t decided which one yet.”
This is part of a dirty bakers dozen of authors coming together to create some sweet donut themed treats for you to devour. Although short, it was packed with wit and humor, and just enough steam to keep things hot. I thought it made the perfect poolside read this summer!
“All along he had wanted her more than any woman he had ever met. He had wanted to love her. Treasure her. And protect her.”
This was the hottest and cutest novella I have probably read in a while!! And isn’t that the most craziest things to describe a book…lol!!! But that’s the only way I can describe this book. It’s definitely worth a read and I’m gonna have to pick up the other books in this Donut Sweet Stories Set. And I would recommend this one. – By Tina
Wow….. a great novella. Amy and Tanner’s story is very interesting. I enjoyed the story, even while shaking my head at all of the misunderstandings. This is my first novel by this author and I will definitely look for more of the donut series. It’s very enjoyable, and stands alone. A definite must read, that has you cheering for an hea for Tanner and Amy.
I have never read anything by FG Adams that I didn’t love, and Donut be Shy isn’t any different from the rest.
This is a perfect rainy day or beach read, a quick read that can easily be read in one session.
FG Adams creates the perfect balance of humor and steamy. The charecters are livable and relatable.
5 out 5 stars for this fun quick read
Donut Be Shy by F.G. Adams
Five Stars
Donut Be Shy is a novella in the Men of Lakeview series by F.G. Adams. This book is also part of the Donut Collection, a series of thirteen book by thirteen different authors featuring donuts. This book was a fast and funny read. I enjoyed all the witty banter. This story features Amy Young and Tanner Mason (Moose) who meet by accident and have out of this world chemistry. A misunderstanding causes the to problems, but Moose is persistent. Will he eventually win Amy’s heart? This book will keep you chuckling throughout. I’m definitely going to read the rest of Ms. Adams Men of Lakeview Series, because this book was great!
Donut be Shy by F.G. Adams is a novella in her Men of Lakeview series as well as part of the Donut Collection. What a fantastic quickie read! Following the story of Amy Young and Tanner “Moose” Mason, both of whom are a part of the Lakeview gang. Moose is a brother in arms with Trident Security, and has watched all of his friends connect with Blackwood women, starting with Keegan and Jo at their beach house. I do wish that these two got full story, because I couldn’t get enough of this duo. Donut be Shy is a perfect example of how lack of communication can make things go sideways and how that lack of understanding can make insecurities blow out of proportion. This story also shows amazing friendships and hope and amazing desserts. I couldn’t read this story fast enough, and I think anyone else who picks it up will love it as much as I did. If you are looking for a fun and flirty novella with amazing characters than this is the one for you.
So stinking cute! Donut Be Shy is a short story written by F.G. Adams and even though it is only 84 pages it is truly a page turner! Amy is a law student turned baker who opens up her own bakery after leaving law school. Tanner aka “Moose” is a border patrol cop who is relentless in his pursuit of Amy. Tanner stops into The Purple Polka Dot every day asking for a chocolate donut in which Amy gives him something completely different every day. These two shared one night of serious passion a year ago and Tanner keeps trying to snag her again and again while Amy is constantly running based on a misunderstanding that she had overheard. With their friends interference, those two are placed in a situation that forces them to talk and well other steamy stuff. HEA is a definite for this book! Such a great short story! The steamy scenes are super spicy and basically I loved every minute of this book! I can’t wait to read more!
5 Stars
Donut Be Shy is a Men of Lakeview story by F.G Adams. It is a sweet, sexy, fun, light-hearted novella- and is a super quick, funny and spicy story that you could easily finish before bed. Ms. Adams is on my ‘must read’ list and I was interested to see something a little different from her. I loved Tanner and Amy, they are great characters and very easy to like and root for. Tanner is sexy and strong- he’s determined to win Amy over and I admire how persistent he was, especially since Amy wasn’t making things easy for him. I think Amy and I would be great friends.
I recommend this delightful book to anyone wanting a quick, sweet, romantic and sexy read. It won’t disappoint!
Thank you, Ms. Adams!
Sweet, funny, quick read for anyone that loves romance and looking for a pick me up in a short novel. Donut Be Shy, is full of lies, funny occurrences and miscommunication that leads to come interesting and funny twists. Read and enjoy while Amy and Tanner try to navigate the world of love and sweets. This is my first book with this author but I truly enjoyed this book and would definitely look into reading the other ones in the series.
Great read
Donut Be Shy by FG Adams was a fun fast read that will have you craving all kinds of sweets. Tanner and Amy’s story will have you hooked from the beginning and keep you hooked to the very end. Tanner and Amy’s chemistry is off the charts and the author will have you falling in love with Tanner. This book is perfect for a quick read before bed but will have you craving more of Tanner and Amy’s story. I recommend all readers be over the age of eighteen due to adult language. I give this book 4 stars.
A Story That Leaves You Hungry For More!
Donut Be Shy is a short story by FG Adams and is part of the National Donut Day Collaboration by 13 authors. This is a sweet short story that leaves you hungry; hungry for more of Tanner and Amy, and hungry for the delights created by Amy. I love how the author wrote this story from dual POV and flashes back to when the couple first met. This easy to read and enjoyable story has left me wanting to check out the other Men of Lakeview books by this author.
Some day in the not too distant future, I’d love to see this short story turned into a full length novel and give us more of this couple. How did Tanner and Amy cross paths again? What happened during Tanner’s daily visits to The Purple Polkadot during the year before this book is set? I’m left wanting more!
This was the cutest summer read I have read so far this summer break! Its super short read so its super easy to read in one sitting. Perfect for sitting by the pool relaxing.
This book is part of a collaboration and I want to read them all……and maybe eat a donut or two!
Amy owns a bakery and Tanner is her flirtatious customer who visits daily. Even though she always puts him off, she cannot deny the attraction she has. She always teases him and gives him the things he doesn’t want.
This was a fun, flirty, with a little steam kinda read. I definitely will be going back to read the other books!
a great read about not giving up. Tanner Mason has loved Amy Young ever since they had a one night stand. every day he goes into her bakery to buy a cake and win her affection but every day she teases him and is cold. will he be able to win her affection?
a great read. well developed plot. well developed characters like Amy living her dream while also standing up for herself or Tanner harsh but caring nature underneath
I loved the visual detail throughout on particular the scenes of the beach under the sunset full of vivid colour and peace and beauty in nature which was written beautifully. or the bakery and the details on the cakes and Amy’s passion for baking was a lovely touch. the flashbacks worked well and didn’t distract from the narrative of the present. the switch of perspectives between chapters was easy to follow and was brillajnty written to give two different points of view. overall, a great read and I would give it five stars
This is not the first book that I have read by this author and I know it will not be my last. The books are so well written and enjoyable!
This is a nice little short novella that has the right amount of romance and humour. I love doughnuts. So much so I actually felt jealous and very hungry reading about Purple PolkaDot Bakery.
Overall, Amy and Tanner as characters were pretty cool. They had a one night stand, that’s how they met and this led to misunderstands and miscommunications. The story was a nice cute read.
“Donut Be Shy” is a sweet, quick novella by FG Adams written in celebration for National Donut Day. “Donut Be Shy” is a standalone in collaboration with other authors and the Men of Lakeview. This story is about Amy Young, a creative pastry shop owner whose one night stand turns into a daily back and forth with Tanner “Moose” Mason. She thinks he is a player and she isn’t interested, but Tanner is a man who knows what he wants and he won’t back down without a fight. I really enjoyed the characters in this story. Amy is feisty but driven and Tanner is a great match for her. There is a scene in the story with all the men of Lakeview and their women that makes me want to read all about them! This novella took no time at all to read and was a nice, light hearted story! I give “Donut Be Shy” 5 stars, but I wish it was longer!
Donut Be Shy- F.G. Adams
5-star review
Donut Be Shy by F.G. Adams is such a perfect short story! It’s funny, sweet, and romantic. It’s a part of the Men of Lakeview series, a series of standalones written by different authors. Though this story isn’t long I still managed to connect with these characters and I enjoyed their story through and through. It’s told in both past and present moments which I always enjoy as it feels as if I get to know the characters on a deeper level. I would definitely recommend this romantic and sexy read to others. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!
Donut Be Shy is a sweet novella by author F.G. Adams that is set in the world of the Men of Lakeview series. This story centers around Tanner and Amy, Tanner is a friend of Lukas Rogers and Amy is a friend of Sage Blackwood and the Blackwood family from the previous Men of Lakeview books. When the two meet sparks fly and they end up sharing a night together neither aware of their connection. Amy ends up running away from Tanner and Tanner is left to track her down. Tanner is determined to find Amy and show her that they belong together. What ensues is a game of cat and mouse, will Tanner be able to bring Amy around to his way of thinking?
I enjoyed this story, it was cute yet steamy and a big plus was seeing the characters from the previous books show up. I loved Tanner and Amy’s story I just wish it was longer, everything went so fast and I feel like there was so much more that could have happened, but it ended well and left me feeling like doing a re-read of the other books in this well-done series.
Donut Be Shy (Men of Lakeview) by F.G. Adams is one sweet and tasty romance novella and a very quick read that can be read in one go. I really enjoyed these characters and would love to have it as a longer story. The characters are well written and made me laugh and I fell in love with Amy and Tanner and the explosive chemistry between them. If only they could own up to what they both want and realise that not everything is as it seems. I enjoy reading F.G’s work it is always quirky and fun.
Don’t miss out this lovely story.
Donut Be Shy by FG Adams
Stars-4
This book was great! Although short and sweet, it was interesting, sweet, and hot. Amy’s and Tanner’s attraction for each other is evident from the first chapter. They had sone issues to work out, but they were fun to read about especially the pastry antics.:)
A baker’s dozen of author agreed to write stories with donuts as a recurring theme throughout. I really like this, because, honestly, who doesn’t like donuts. This story was well written, and I loved the dedication at the beginning of the book. I can relatd to Black Friday mornings! The only thing that I wish was different is the length of the story. I wish it was a bit longer just because I enjoyed reading about Amy and Tanner!
Donut by Shy by FG Adams was a great fast paced novella. I absolutely loved how there was a small insight to other stories by the author as I have missed those characters. I wish it was longer, because I see so much more character development possibilities. I also would have figured Moose to be a little more demanding on why she was ignoring his advances but it definitely made for a good story line. Amy and Moose meet and have a hot, passionate night together, a year later he is trying to win her over every single day and she’s not biting. The connection was obvious and dripped off the page. Who knows, maybe we will get a full length novel as this was such a tease!???
