Who killed Jack Sullivan?Welcome to Hamlet. Population: 192.
You can’t find it on any map, GPS, or directions site. A small village tucked between a mountain and a valley, Hamlet is the sort of place where everyone knows everyone—and their business, too. There’s no television. No internet. No phones. Only one way in and, for the locals, barely any way out. The sheriff is the law, the only doctor … the law, the only doctor moonlights as the coroner, and outsiders hardly ever come to town.
Murders are even rarer.
A treacherous storm, a flat tire, and a touch of serendipity causes Tessa Sullivan and her husband Jack to stumble upon the narrow strait that leads into Hamlet. It was supposed to be a one night stop until the rain let up and Jack could figure out how to fix the tire—until Tess lands herself in the local jail cell overnight and Jack is found dead in their hotel room the next morning.
There’s no doubt it was murder, but with Sullivan’s gentle wife having an airtight alibi, the sheriff has to wonder: who had any cause to kill the outsider? And is he the only victim?
Dr. De Angelis doesn’t think so. Neither does Deputy Walsh. With Tess looking more and more like the killer’s next target, both men take the time to comfort and protect the young widow. But only one of them is sincere. The other just wants her to himself now that her husband is out of the way.
Alone and afraid, who can she trust?
* Don’t Trust Me is a full-length murder mystery/ domestic thriller novel (85,000+ words) set in Hamlet, a cozy small town in the middle of nowhere—where everyone knows your name and, even so, no one is safe…

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I made it roughly half way and then skipped to the end to find . . . . well, let’s just say the title says it all.
Honeymoon from hell!
A flat tire on a rainy night has brought Jack and Tessa Sullivan to a hotel in the small town of Hamlet instead of their second honeymoon destination. A one-night stay is not much of a delay but now Jack is dead and Tessa is the prime suspect even though she has a solid alibi.
This book has a good plot and a storyline that shows imagination. My one complaint is that if the story is going to spend so much time in the characters heads, it should not use it all to misdirect. Otherwise, I really liked this book. The suspense and twists were superb!
Where to start…this book was a political speech trying to disguise itself as a mystery. It portrayed all conservative ideas as stupid and all liberal/progressive ideas a brilliant. It did what liberal/progressives do: accused conservatives of doing what the liberals/progressives are actually doing in real life. Typical propaganda. The author gave liberals credit for ideas that are actually pushed by conservatives in real life. In the story, a conservative talk show host is portrayed is an idiot and bigot, while his wife is called a “Stepford wife.” I don’t think the author missed any of the liberal/progressive/socialist talking points. There is one thing you can be sure of about this book: it is pure fantasy, not just fiction.
This was a suspense thriller with twists and turns that kept me reading late at night. I enjoyed reading this book right up to the last page and recommend it as it is a well written thriller!
Very entertaining. Quite surprised at the ending.
enjoyed the suspense but what an ending/surprising, yes,
Kept me reading and wondering but just couldn’t buy into the main character and how she was viewed to everyone she met in the story.
Very much enjoyed this book. I’m an avid mystery book reader and it’s hard to surprise me. This one did – up to the very end!
You will read this book and believe you have it all figured out…but you won’t! Keeps you guessing up to the last chapter
There is a real feeling of creepy not-rightness while reading this book. I *thought* i knew who dunnit, i wasn’t too concerned that something awful would happen and yet… that sinister underlying feeling was with me the whole time. And a good twist at the end. Well done.
Horrible ending.
fearful detective story with a twist in the tail.
disappointing ending, unbelievable.
The idea was interesting, but the story, especially the end was “too made up”, illogical
I thought this book was well written. Despite knowing there was a twist coming, I couldn’t quite figure it out, although the title did lead to a potential solution.
Wow this story is impossible to put down and hard to see end. When i read mysteries i always have a thought process running in the back ground storing up clues of “who done it”. This story i did not see it coming! I say this is good reading i think you will enjoy it.
Who does she trust? Very good ending.
I thought this book was really eerie and bizarre (in a good way) – think Rocky Horror meets David Lynch. Hamlet is a very creepy and unique town. The characters range from odd to mysterious. Definitely a page-turner. Highly recommended!
