To catch a killer…you have to use the perfect bait.FBI Agent Bree Harlow is working the biggest case of her career. She’s undercover on the hunt for a killer who has murdered three women—and she isn’t going to stop until she brings down her prey. She’s scored a job at Fantasy, the hottest club in New Orleans, and she’s just caught the attention of the club’s owner, the sexy and dangerous Kace … dangerous Kace Quick. Everyone knows the guy is shady—and probably linked to every criminal activity in the Big Easy. She shouldn’t find him so attractive. Shouldn’t want to do anything but lock the guy away. After all, he is her chief suspect.
Be careful…sometimes, you can’t see the danger coming.
Kace knows there is far more to Bree than meets the eye. He isn’t a fool, and he can spot a Fed from a mile away, though he does admit that Bree is the sexiest FBI agent he’s ever seen. He lets her play her game, though Kace plans to keep his hands very far off his gorgeous new problem. Then the attacks begin. Attacks all focused on Bree. And suddenly, it’s not a game any longer because Kace isn’t about to let his FBI agent get caught in the crossfire.
To hurt a man, you have to destroy what he wants most.
Kace has a powerful enemy working in the darkness—a man who wants to destroy Kace by making him look guilty as hell. Kace is being set up for murders he didn’t commit. And now, the killer has locked onto his next victim—Bree. Despite Kace’s best efforts, he has let Bree get too close. For the first time in years, Kace cares about someone else—a fatal flaw. And the killer in the dark can’t wait to make Kace pay for past sins…The killer thinks he can hurt Bree, and by hurting her, the mighty Kace Quick will fall.
Things aren’t always as they appear…
Bree won’t be anyone’s victim. She’s not the damsel in distress—she’s the woman ready to take down a murderer. She’ll break every rule in the FBI’s precious handbook in order to protect the lover she knows is innocent. Kace is hers, and Bree won’t let anyone hurt him. She’ll catch the real killer, she’ll prove his guilt, and maybe, just maybe, Bree and Kace can stop their world from going down in flames.
Sex, murder, and lies…just another day in the Big Easy…

Awesome characters: A sexy hero with a dangerous edge and an even worse reputation. A heroine working to bring him down. A serial killer. The ingredients for an intense and emotional story. I loved this book. Ms. Eden has a new fan.
This story is one hell of a ride. The author did it again. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Don’t Trust a Killer and now onto book 2 in the series.
Kace Quick is seemingly the crime lord and a prime suspect of serial killing in New Orleans. Bree Harlow is sent undercover as a waitress in one of his clubs because she fits the description of the victims. Kace, however, knew exactly what and who she was and why she was there in his club. But there is this attraction that burns hot right from the moment they meet each other. Also, Kace isn’t the one to beat around the bush. When he wanted, he took it. Now he wants Bree and he doesn’t hide it from her either. But the killer is close, he’s killing people they know. People who are connected to Kace’s past and he must stop the killer soon because Bree was in his sights.
This is such an enticing read. I don’t know how she does it, but she did it again. The killer, was there right under our noses from the start and it wasn’t until the very moment we see it’s them. And Kace is such a tease. I loved his character throughout the book. This had all the elements I loved-suspense, romance and more. The 2nd book in the series has a great start and I can’t wait to finish it.Cynthia Eden Don’t Trust a Killer
Holy Heck was this one twisted, wild ride!
Bree goes undercover to find evidence against Kace as the serial killer who is strangling women in New Orleans. She’s a green agent but she’s determined, until whatever this thing is between her and Kace makes her start to doubt everything and everyone. Kace pretty much owns this town. He learned to play the game as a young man and he’s only mastered it throughout the years. With all the players lined up he squares off against the one that he might not be able to walk away from.
Dang but Kace was one dark anti-hero. He made me nervous, he kind of scared me and I was totally questioning his motives the entire book. Knowing this author I knew I’d get my happy ever after but I was worried how that was going to come about. Because Kace, he wasn’t like any hero I’d ever read.
Bree was an exceptional heroine who even at her most vulnerable still managed to surprise me with her strength and her mind. She had what it took to do the job but I was constantly watching for what she might uncover, afraid it would be the very thing that would break her heart.
Together, this couple lit up the pages of this book as the story unfolded, gradually revealing one clue and one twist at a time. There were so many freaking suspects, and characters I thought might be suspects, that I couldn’t stop reading. I didn’t want to stop reading.
I enjoy a good romantic suspense but I absolutely LOVED this one! It was equally balanced and I never felt one element was weightier than the other. My mind is still whirling from all that was revealed and how everything played out. I’m actually going to miss this couple and hope like heck that I get to see them again in future books.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Hocus Pocus. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
DARK SIZZLING TEMPTATION, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS BOOK IS! It SIZZLES with heat and its downright THRILLING!
Cynthia Eden brought us readers a whole new kind of hero….the anti-hero kind. And he is SOOOOO DREAMY, DANGEROUS, GORGEOUS AND GAVE ME THE BEST KIND OF CHILLS AND THRILLS while our heroine is SMART, STRONG, FIERY AND FULL OF SURPRISES. This book had so many great twists and heart stopping suspense that I did not want put it down! It was exciting and had my blood pumping madly through my veins. I am SMITTEN with Don’t Trust A Killer! I feel that Miss Eden hit it out of the ball park with this brand new romantic suspense!
Don’t Trust A Killer gets a THRILLING AND SIZZLING HOOOOOOOT FIVE SHOOTING STARS!
Bree is a FBI agent who’s parents were killed when she was a teenager. Now she is hunting a serial killer in New Orleans. Kace is a major criminal in New Orleans and owns several clubs. He was accused of murder when he was nineteen but was found innocent. Now the FBI think he is the Strangler and send Bree in undercover to his newest club. Neither expect to fall for each other but the sparks fly when they are near. When the target is on Bree, Kace will kill for her to protect her.
Very sexy. Suspense, mystery and action. The ending will blow you away. This is a nail bite that will keep you reading until the book is finished.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for the author *
Interesting characters. Good reading.
Love this author!
5 “Saint or Sinner“ stars
Cynthia Eden never disappoints. I love her writing and complex characters she creates. She is really good at writing romantic suspense. Don’t Trust A Killer is no exception. In my opinion it’s her best book so far. Don’t Trust a Killer is another thrilling, gripping, edge of your seat page turner. It’s also dark, twisted and a wild ride that I enjoyed from start to finish. It was set in New Orleans.
Kace Quick is a powerful man, business owner and is suspected to be the New Orleans Strangler – killer. Kace is mysterious, charming, gorgeous, survivor but also a dark anti-hero. He has secrets. It was not easy to figure him out – is he a saint or sinner, good or bad- which I liked. He has done some bad things in order to survive. I loved his personality and the more I read the book the more I liked and understood him. Kace is really a kickass character (after Jax of course) and he became my favorite Cynthia Eden’s character she’s written thus far.
Bree Harlow is an FBI agent and part of Grayson’s team. She is assigned to infiltrate Kace’s night club to get close to him in order to find out Kace’s secrets and evidence to prove he is a killer. Bree is determined, stubborn, survivor, fierce, sassy and so strong and brave.
The moment Kace and Bree met it was obvious there was an undeniable connection and attraction. The more they spend time together the more they feel for each other. They were both kikass characters. While you’re reading this book you see how Kace and Bree are so similar: they are both survivors – they did what needed to be done in order to survive; strong, stubborn and they both have some emotional baggage. I love their relationship development; they were buidling some kind of friendship and then potentially became more. Bree is his weakness but his strength too. They were intense and lit up the pages. Their banter was enjoyable and made them who they are. They push and challenge each other. Love that Bree never does what he expects and that she pushes back. Every time Kace thinks he has her figured out Bree does something unexpected and surprises him. He is in awe with her. They are just amazing and good together. The epilogue was amazing and I loved that Jax and Sarah appeared in this book. Also I was so excited and surprised to find out that Kace and Jax are friends.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was equally balanced with suspense and romance. I loved the dual POV and the secondary characters. It was so mysterious and unpredictable with some amazing twists and turns. It surprised me in every way and I liked that! Really can’t wait for Don’t Love A Liar.
Fabulous start to this new romantic suspense. Murder, mayhem and a twist Don’t Trust a Killer has great characters and an engaging storyline. I will definitely be reading more of this series
Kace Quick, powerful man, business owner and suspected to be the New Orleans Strangler. All signs point to Kace for the recent murders of the women who where thought to be his lovers. FBI agent Grayson Wesley is determined to take Kace down even if he has to step over lines to get the proof.
Bree Harlow, FBI agent and part of Grayson’s team. She assigned to infiltrate Kace’s night club to get close to him, find the evidence they need to close the New Orleans Strangler case. She didn’t know she would have to fight her own desire to get close to Kace and it has nothing to do with the murders.
I’ve gotta say, the author did a great job of giving motive to a whole lot of people that kept me switching back and forth to who I thought was the real killer. I really like when a storyline is not predictable. The fact that it took me so long to realize who was involved, made this a great read.
This author is pretty good with providing us the heroes who take what they want. While Kace had that in him, he seemed pretty toned down with Bree. I would have liked to have seen more intensity in him. Bree was a tough cookie that still showed her weakness when it came to Kace. I liked her and how she was with him.
This is a standalone that had a bit of a tie in with Jax and Sarah from the book Shattered. I’ve not read it yet but it was a great teaser that has me off to go buy that book now.
This is going to be a great series if all the books are as good as this one! I love how saucy Bree Harlow is especially when confronted with danger (or Kace). Kace on the other hand is so broody and sinfully delicious you cannot help but fall in love with him. Not only is this book chocked full of great characters, but it is full of twists and turns that leave you unable to put the book down. One thing I really enjoyed is balance of hunt for a serial killer and lust for each other this story brings.
Amazing ! Full of Twists and Turns .
I volunteered to read and review a readers copy of Don’t Trust A Killer .
This is with out a doubt one of the best stories I’ve ever read .
I will definitely be reading more by Cynthia Eden . Just WOW ! The story is intense from the beginning till the very end . It’s one heck of a rollercoaster ride.
The author wrote this story with so many twists and turns you don’t see coming . This story is sure to make your heart pounding And your pulse race .
I was one edge of my seat with the suspense .
Bree is a fresh out of quantico FBI agent brought in to help catch a serial killer and Kace is the guy she’s investigating. I loved the chemistry between these to characters, how both were drawn to each other despite their suspicions. The hunt for a killer had twist and turns plus a web of deceit and lies I did not see coming!
Don’t Trust A Killer was definitely a high octane intriguing romantic suspense story you don’t wanna miss!
Don’t Trust A killer by Cynthia Eden is the story of Bree Harlow and Kace Quick.
Bree is working the New Orleans Strangler case to solved the murders. Which leads her to go undercover at Kace’s night club. Kace is immediately attracted to Bree from the start but he also knows that she got to be part of the Feds. Bree knows that Kace does some shady stuff but when she gets to know him she starts to know he can’t be the killer. But the killer is starting to put the heat on her which makes Kace go into protection mode towards Bree.
Another exciting hot read from Ms. Eden.
Nobody does romantic suspense quite like Cynthia Eden, and Don’t Trust A Killer is her at her finest.
The suspense, off the charts.
The sexual tension, off the charts.
The romance, off the charts.
Not only were Bree and Kace amazing characters, their chemistry was sizzling. I absolutely loved this story, kept me guessing until the very end.
It’s just another day in the Big Easy as Bree goes undercover to catch serial killer and catches the attention of the sexy and dangerous Kace who the FBI believes to be the crime lord behind the murders. Kace and Bree are bold, charismatic characters that easily bring readers into their world and hold them captive with their sizzling chemistry and daring and brave romance. Against all odds, the attractions burns hotter the longer they work together and the relationship has several obstacles that will have to be overcome including some past emotional baggage.
Thrills and intrigue keep readers turning the pages of this fast paced and smooth flowing plot that has a dangerously edgy feel as the hero and heroine face some hair raising events and try to determine who the killer is before they become his next victims all while dealing with law enforcement that has decided Kace is guilty and they are determined to bring him down. Surprising twists keep readers guessing which adds to the intense thrill of the story and once again the author has created a well-developed world that she brings to brilliant life, making it easy for the readers to connect to the characters and to become part of the story and being set in New Orleans spices up the story as it helps set up the atmosphere and adds to the dangerous, edgy crime lord persona of Kace and some of his employees. I was completely caught up in this book from the very beginning and I was especially excited by the astonishing conclusion of Bree’s case.
