Every time I start a new Heather Lyn book I think to myself that this is the one that won’t break me. But, then I break. Her words are so emotionally driven that it’s hard for me not to connect to the story and characters. They hurt and I hurt with them, but what I’m always guaranteed is a fantastic payout.
This book was no different. Nacole and Garret are everything. Their story is everything. It was heartbreaking and beautiful. My heart bled for Nacole and what she’d been through – was it easy to read, no, it was truly heartbreaking, but it’s also something that is happening every day somewhere and that just makes it all the more sad, but ultimately her story had a happy ending and that made the difficult parts worth it. The way Heather incorporated her past into the present was perfection and made it easier to read too because it wasn’t full out chapter after chapter of bad stuff, we got to see a nice balance. Garret, swoon. Nacole calls him a Book Boyfriend and I have to agree. He’s the tough sexy cop that has a sweetness to him.
The banter between the characters was perfection. It not only gave a little reprieve from the tough themes but just gave the characters that whole friend vibe that I love. I could imagine hanging out with them. I adored the cameos from Heather’s characters from different books….it’s always good to have a little catch up with your favourite book people. That being said it is a standalone and their story is complete. Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down, it was just what I needed.
Don’t Say Goodbye reminded me how much I love to read!! From start to finish Nacole and Garret’s story was true and pure from the start. I thoroughly enjoyed this story from start to finish. Definitely one of my favorite Heather Lyn stories!
Sadie Nacole & Garret are such a sweet couple. I loved their story!! Sadie is so strong & brave & kicks butt, and Garret’s heart is so big! He has a little misstep in the middle & I wanted to shake both of them for a chapter, but they figure things out pretty quickly. There are some tears & tough times, but there are more great LOL and swoony moments. (“PINEAPPLE! My safe word is pineapple!” Cracked. Me. Up.)
The pacing, the characters, the steamy times, the drama – it all worked together to pull off a fantastic read! Thumbs up!! : )
Great read
This was such a well written story that gave me all the feels. I couldn’t not put this book down it sucks you in from the very beginning.
From Hell to, well almost Heaven.
She has lived there for the last seven years until she managed to escape.
Told in my favourite dual POV, this is Nacole’s journey towards finally living out from under the shroud of fear. She also recalls memories of her abusive past in a series of incidents that happened before she left, and when she was finally given the tools and the impetus to leave, there was no looking back. Her first choice is the town of Nashville, and she winds up getting her first job in none other than Walker’s Taphouse.
Wow, those Walker brothers!! When you’ve checked out the gorgeous cover, knowing that Ms Lyn says that the man on the front embodies Garrett Walker, that’s the vision that you carry with you as you read the book! He’s all hot-cop, alpha male, and the most caring and thoughtful man that ever walked this earth! Almost heavenly!
When he sees Nacole working in his brother’s pub, he is immediately entranced, but Nacole, even though she can’t deny that he is a gorgeous man, no longer trusts her judgement, staying well clear. For a little while at least.
Having never been in Nacole’s position of abuse, I was a little surprised that she recovered the sassy version of herself quite so quickly after the seven years of abuse that she had suffered. But, that aside, because this is romantic fiction after all, I loved her strength, and boy, did she fight to the end.
Whenever I get to the end of Ms Lyn’s books, I always have a sense of complete gratification that all is well in my world, and I’m not shy in saying that’s what I need to see. I also very much enjoyed seeing the crowd from previous books. 4.5 Stars.
This was a new to me author who took me to many levels right away. Her Prologue will get you going with emotions churning, anger spewing and mouth left open. Nacole has you wrapped around her finger through this one from start to finish. So glad though the direction it goes in after that explosive taste. When she does cross paths with Garrett your curiosity will come running to the front seeing how long it will take him to even really get to talk to her. This is one that I speed through thanks to the writing and the characters. It will also give you emotional overload and then some. The wind up on this one will get your blood running plus anxiety but the last few pages will be sweet to taste.
I’ve come to find that each author has specific areas in which the excel in their writing. Some authors are able to write a story so emotional that you are in tears from beginning to end. Some authors do better writing books that have you laughing throughout the story. Some authors write a story so full of drama and mystery, that you just can’t put down the book. Occasionally, you will find a book that hits all of the points that make a perfect romance. Don’t Say Goodbye is that book. It has everything I look for in a story.
Garrett Walker is a police officer. He seems to be a pretty straight forward guy. Friendly, family guy. He’s happy with his life. Until he meets Nacole. There is an instant connection between them, and he just can’t get her off his mind. Nacole has a brutal past, that she is trying to get away from. No one knows about that past, and she isn’t sure she wants anyone to know about it.
Disappointment after disappointment has led her to a new city where she knows no one, trying to find herself. She recognizes the connection with Garrett. She just doesn’t know if she can get over her past and move forward.
This book……my emotions were everywhere with this book. I cried. My heart hurt for Nacole. I laughed until I cried some more. (Those Walker boys are hilarious!) I can’t even express how much I loved this book. The author had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. And let’s not forget how HOT the connection between Garrett and Nacole was! Oh boy! Did I forget to mention he is a super sexy COP! Yup. This book is a must read for anyone that loves romance, suspense, and a great story!
5 Amazing Stars!!
This author never ceases to amaze me, her writing and depth of story telling will drag you in deep and hold you there until the end. Nacole and Garret are one of the great love stories you’ll regret putting down and run back to finish. This beautifully written story of love and destiny will keep you on the edge of your seat!!
What is a hero? Someone who saves your life, shows great courage, and comforts you when you are scared.
Nacole met Garret when she needed him the most but wasn’t sure if she could trust her heart to love again. But was she ever really in love before? Probably not. She had been swept off her feet by an abusive and devious man who ruled her life for seven years. That was not love; that was torture. She was meant to meet Garret when she moved to Nashville and it was love at first sight for both of them. Starting over was the first step towards her new life and for the first time Nacole was happy and had something to look forward to. Her feelings of hopelessness were in the past and she was determined to start each day with a smile on her face.
Garret is a brave and dedicated police officer who is proud to keep his community safe. He is close to his family, loves country music and is waiting for the right woman to come along. He never thought he would find her working at his brother Brody’s bar. But there she was with her cute smile, petite body and big eyes. He was so taken with her beauty that he lost his breath and couldn’t speak. She was the one for him and he was determined to get to know her and win her love. She seemed a little shy and nervous so he decided that taking his time with her was the best plan.
“Don’t Say Goodbye” is another five star worthy book by Heather Lyn. Garret made sure that Nacole knew he wasn’t going anywhere and that he would always be there for her. She found her savior in Garret and all of her bad dreams went away. I highly recommend all of Heather’s books to anyone that wants to read stories that will be with them always. She is an exceptional writer whose thoughts and words come from the heart to give us romance, pure emotion and intense feelings which center on characters we can all relate to.

“Every day we talked, and I fell in love with you. I knew there was a chance that you and I would be nothing, but I didn’t care. I needed you in my life, Sadie. I needed you. And I still do. I’m not even half the man I want to be without you.”
OMG I love me some Garrett Walker!! A sexy boy in blue. Muscles. Thoughtful and patient. Protective. What more could a girl want?
Nacole Ward just wants a new start. Freedom- from him and from the daily fear that plagued her life. All she was looking for was some peace – finally. What she found was so much more – friends, family, and….. Garrett. He’s the equivalent of every book boyfriend she’s ever read about. But, will the secrets she’s keeping ruin her chances of happily ever after? When her past tracks her down, will she survive long enough to find out?
Garrett Walker lives for his job. A career police officer, his goal is to advance to the top. He’s lived and breathed this path for a long time, never stopping for love or romance. Until now. From first sight, he knew she was the one. But, when the secrets and lies she’s held are revealed, can he ever forgive her? When her past tracks her down, threatening to take her from him, will he ever get the chance?
Don’t get me wrong, I loved Brody Walker in book 1, but Garrett? Garrett is mine now, so y’all need to just back off! Oh, and that big gesture Garrett makes at the end? Have the tissues handy. Dead. I’m dead. Love this series and can’t wait for Jace’s story next!!
I need to get my emotions in check to write this review! Heathers stories just gets better and better and this one is just AMAZING!!
I fell in love with this book from the minute I started reading. From the first page it had completely sucked me into the story and I didn’t want to stop reading, but silly life got in my way…
These characters…WOW Garret is just swoon worthy and they way he protects Sadie is just simply heartwarming. This story had me with tears in my eyes on more than one occasion….my heart literally broke at times for what Sadie had been dealt in life.
Heather has again produced a story that you know will stay in your heart for a long time. I can’t begin to say how much this story touched me and how much I loved it. Amazing 5 read and one I think everyone needs to read. Well done Heather on another amazing book.
