From sister’s best friend to his perfect partner
What an amazing book. The author really brought the emotions between the characters to the front. I really liked how their relationship progressed throughout the book, especially after Mac feels the need to administer a little bit of discipline. I found myself unable to put the book down until the very end. This was the first book I have read by this author, but I can’t imagine that it will be the last.
Book one in a new series called Hometown Love and I want to read more in this series. A well written story of two people Jessie Owens and MacAllister Evans who are trying to look after Sam. Sam is MacAllister’s nephew by his deceased twin sister Carly, and Carly was Jessie’s best friend. I enjoyed reading how these two come together. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jessie and MacAllister, Mac, are now the parents of Sam. His dad died before he was born and his mom, Carly, Jessie’s best friend and Mac’s twin, died a week after he was born. Mac can’t keep a nanny, so Jessie has come to care for Sam while looking for a new nanny. And Mac and Jessie slowly realize that they want to be together. The domestic discipline in this is kind of an afterthought. More stress release than discipline. But, it somehow works! Jess’ best friend Carly died shortly after giving birth to Sam. Carly’s twin brother Mac has custody of Sam now, but he’s frustrated and unable to keep a nanny. Jess (a teacher on summer vacation) leaves their little hometown to help Mac for a few weeks. When her job is eliminated, it become a little longer. I really enjoyed this book, a nice story that wasn’t too long but grabbed my interest from the beginning. The sparks are flying between them, especially when he likes to administer the spankings that she craves. First read from this author, but not the last.

Jess and Mac make a great couple.
MacAllister Evans has custody of his twin sister’s baby and cannot keep a nanny so he is knee-deep in trouble. What does he do but call Jessie his sister’s best friend who would do anything for Sam her deceased friend son. This book was cute the banter between the two main characters at times was so funny. There are domestic discipline events in this one as these two come to realize that they belong together. This book may not appeal to everyone but I found it very entertaining. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
ONE SCORCHING EXPERIENCE!!!
Razzle dazzle! Megan bakes the mold, seals the pattern and masters the cracks fusing this baby together piece by jagged piece. She spins a block busting, prize winning masterpiece into one tantalizing creation of perfection, catapulting this gem into an incredible mind blowing culmination. One chaotic ride with a bounty of swirling emotions bursting forward front and center. The drama, humor, intrigue and engaging suspense thrusts this little gem into a tailspin with marvelous impacts. Add determination, intense chemistry and plenty of fun and you have one thrilling mix that blasts this jewel wide open. Conquering the trials and tribulations keeping pace with a slew of plot twists and sleek turns blasting this baby to life spectacularly. The characters are realistic, intriguing and authentic with depth and qualities that add just enough flaws for diversity. The scenes are so vividly detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Megan, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
It was interesting storyline.
Two childhood friends are forced to take care of little Sam.
His parents are gone, his Mum was Mac’s twin sister . He needs help so Jess is asked for help. She was their best friends and she loves Sam to pieces. Can’t imagine life without Sam and down the road Mac is in the picture, too.
This book has a little power exchange and not to much about growing relationship between them.
It comes sparsely ,even the ending doesn’t have to much in it. Jess character made my head spinning with the same speed she come out with her ideas.
Yes,we have HEA

When Carly dies, Mac and Jess have to come together for Sam. All Jess can think about is how she must be there for him. It shouldn’t be a problem getting along, after all she, Carly and Mac all grew up together. She just can’t leave him alone raising Sam without her input. What she doesn’t know is that Sam is a spanker. Somehow even though spanking sets her bottom on fire, it’s somehow comforting to her. A really good spanking romance. Hand, spoon, paddle.

Lovely story. After Sam was born his Mom died. Mac has been looking after Sam since and he is finding it hard to find a nanny. Jessie was Carly’s best friend. When she passed away Jessie will do anything to make sure Sam is taken care of and is loved. This story has humor, is a sweet romance and spankings thrown in when Jessie is naughty. Wonderful characters, their romance is a bit rocky but they work it out. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The title of this book comes from something that was said about Jess through school – and that still holds true. Mac’s sister bequeaths custody of her son Sam to him, and he is frazzled by his unexpected fatherhood. Juggling work so that he can reprioritize his life and unable to keep or find a good nanny, he asks Jessie to step in. But Mac believes in a firm hand for transgressions, and Jess soon learns the value (or otherwise!) of a wooden spoon or a paddle. Their relationship isn’t smooth sailing, between Jessie’s own conflicted emotions and the discovery of a cousin that wants to meet Sam too, but it’s a good read to get to the resolution of the issues.

An emotional friend to more romance.
Jess has gone to stay with her best friends’ brother, Mac, to help him get settled with his nephew, Sam. And to see if she has a chance at getting custody of Sam herself since she’s his godmother and a teacher. When they can’t find a nanny, Mac convinces Jess to stay for a year to help care for Sam and go back to college to get her Master’s degree. What neither one was counting on was their long-standing feelings for each other to get involved and maybe just make them all a family.
This does involve situations with power exchanges/domestic discipline, so if that’s not your cup of tea… feel free to pass on this one. But it’s really well written and not over the top.

What a motto to live by
Don’t Mess with Jess is the story of Jess, Mac and a baby named Sam. It is a mix of friends to lovers, lite BDSM with some power exchange, and a bit of wholesomeness added in. The story is interesting and believable with characters that are witty, loving and strong. Plus you have a nice HEA which ties up into a lovely story.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
A well written book with an interesting story line. The characters are strong and the story flows quickly and smoothly. I enjoyed reading this story.

I did not care for the spanking theme – especially the unwanted element. Even with them, I think there could’ve been less full scenes elaborated. That aside, I liked the characters and there was a good storyline. I never really felt that there was a good conflict and resolution.

Sweet, romantic and heartwarming. Jessie lost her best friend Carly and she will do anything to not lose Carly’s son, Sam. Even if it means helping Carly’s brother, Mac, raise Sam. Being so close to Mac while helping with Sam makes the sparks fly. An enjoyable read with a bit of discipline.

Jessie and Carly have been best friends. When Carly dies, Jessie will do anything to help raise Carly son Sam. MacAllister gets custody of his twin sister Carly’s baby. He’s goes through three nannies in three weeks, as a last resort he asks for Jessie’s help. The more he’s around her the more he wants her. I really enjoyed this book.
This book is tagged as a ‘sweet romance’ and it is. It’s very sweet. It’s adorable.
Jess’s best friend Carly died following complications after childbirth and has left behind a beautiful new son, Sam. Carly’s twin brother, Mac, is raising Sam as his own son but struggling with a demanding job and unsuccessful attempts at retaining a nanny.
At the start of the book, Jess has volunteered to help Mac out for a few weeks but Jess’s fierce protective love of baby Sam means that this was never going to be a temporary arrangement. Especially, as it turns out, she has rather a lot of complicated feelings for Mac.
There isn’t much by way of conflict in this book. Jessie and Mac have already dealt with more than their fair share of trauma before the book even begins, not to mention the stresses of having unexpected parenthood thrust upon them. There is a subplot about a cousin but that doesn’t really go anywhere.
Instead, most of the conflict comes from Jess’s contradictory feelings about what she wants from life. There is a great page in the book where Jess goes through in her mind everything that she wants to happen. Half of which flatly contradicts the other half. She wants to take Sam away from Mac. She wants to stay with Mac forever. She wants to move back home to her support network. She wants to stay in Mac and Sam’s town to be close to them.
Her overriding worry is that she has no legal standing in the care of the orphaned baby who she loves so much. Everyone knows that “you don’t mess with Jess”, apparently. And she certainly seems to have a rather bull-headed attitude to resolving issues.
Luckily, she has Mac to reign in her more impetuous instincts. Usually with a good spanking. The descriptions of spankings in this book are great. Once again, Jess finds herself to think two entirely contradictory thoughts at the same time. That’s often the way with being spanked, I’ve found. She wants to be spanked but she hates and wants Mac to stop and then wishes that he had spanked a bit longer. Then she wants to be spanked again.
Mac is more than happy to oblige when it comes to putting her over his knee. The one thing I found strange about this book is that there doesn’t seem to be any particular defining moments when Jessie and Mac change from ‘friends helping one another out’ to ‘soul mates who can’t live without the other’. It’s weird because I know that that’s exactly how it works in real life. Feelings change and develop, and love happens without a big fanfare. You just don’t expect it in a romance story.
This is a very sweet, gentle story that’s easy to read. I look forward to reading the rest of the stories in the ‘Hometown Love’ series.
