Lovely Story
A very lovely romantic story. The main female character came a long way from where she began, as this story opened.
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this short story via Booksprout and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
This book was well-written & kept my attention throughout. I was invested in the main characters enough to want to see the story through to what I hoped would be a happy ending. The only thing that slowed me down a bit was all the Aussie slang or lingo that I wasn’t familiar with, but I stuck it out to the end, & was glad that I did. However, I probably will not continue the series, since it was more effort than I like to put in when I’m reading for leisure.

This first book is a well-written story in a series with great characters that I am growing to know and love. She is on a journey of self-discovery and growth through this amazing story and has now found love. She discovers that military life that she wanted has some drawbacks that she is trying to work through and with her new relationship. This is realistic look into a life and love a couple dealing with real issues. A must read and I cannot wait for more from this author in this series.

Don’t Mean a Thing by Renee Conoulty is fully at home in Darwin, Australia. The lead is following her dream — and joined the military. I like that twist on the military romance trope. She also needs a balance to her new military life and decides to take up swing dancing. Ahh… her dance partner Matt.
This book is a delightfully sweet romance and a taste of Australia. I’ll admit that sometimes I had to think about some of the slang words for a beat (and even look a few up!), but it was well worth it to be truly transported around the globe.
See the world!
Stay on your sofa and read!
Macie is starting to find her rhythm. She is learning to dance Swing, and finding her way in the Air Force.
Sometimes a chunk of concrete bungs things up, and sometimes you might feel a bit awkward. Completely running away from challenges is likely impossible.
Has she found the right path for her heart and her career?
An interfering ex might put an end to her dancing days – time, and the next book, will tell.

A sweet, lovely, clean romance. The characters feel real with their various flaws and strengths. The story line is well written and flows well and isn’t too predictable. The author does a great job of pulling the reader in as they begin reading and keeps their attention as they go through the story.

Book one of Got That Swing series. Macie is not finding things as easy as she thought the Royal Australian Air Force would be. She joins a Swing Dance group and meets Matt. I enjoyed reading their story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Macie is fitting in with her new career. She occasionally flirts with a coworker, but there’s no real attraction there. She’s looking for something to do to meet people who are maybe a little closer to her age, and joins a swing dance meetup. Where she meets Matt, school teacher and great dancer. He already had a dance partner, but maybe he needs a life partner… I love this book. The story drew me in early on, it’s very easy reading, and the story flows well. Macie is strong and independent, not afraid to make big life changes. Matt’s just a really nice guy, kind, caring, good-looking. And they mesh so well together, it was a pleasure to watch them fall in love. This is a new-to-me author (I read the prequel last week), and hope to see much more from her.

Australian Airforce, Swing Dancing, and Romance
This is a lovely romance. They are in love but their careers seem to be going in different trajectories. This is a clean romance. The characters are very realistic with flaws and strengths. The plot is very well done. Unlike most romances, the reader doesn’t know what is going to happen until it does. This is part of a series that is best read in order.
I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
Macie Harman, in her early 30s, is finally doing what she wants to do for herself! She has dumped her negative and controlling boyfriend, quit her retail job, and joined the military! No man was going to stand in her way again! Now she is heading for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) to begin her new career. The taxi took her to the base and Rachael, the only person she knew so far from training, picked her up in her car to take her to register and settle in her room. The accommodations were not spectacular, but she would get by.
Macie’s sister had suggested she join something to help her meet people and have fun since the bars were of no interest to her. She found a Swing Dance group and signed up. She took a run on the beach, trying to improve her time, and passed the dance class. When she returned to her car to stretch, a handsome guy, introducing himself as Matt, came up and invited her to join them at the dance class. She declined but said she would come the following Wednesday. She did that and learned a few steps. She also met more people and danced. Matt was a wonderful dancer and she enjoyed being with him. When he went to get them water, an earlier partner of his, Nadiene, let her know she and Matt were together. But Macie could still dance with him and that was fine with her.
When Macie and Matt went to the Wednesday lesson class, he asked her afterward to get a coffee and walk on the jetty. When she answered that Nadiene would not like that, he shrugged it off as something that didn’t matter! He kept trying to find out why she turned cold to him, so she commented on his “girlfriend”. He assured her he didn’t have one. Nadiene was merely his assigned partner for the performance troupe. He asked her again to walk with him, and this time she agreed. They were friends, right? She made sure to keep her hands wrapped around her coffee cup and not on his arm.
This was such a good book, the style of writing quickly pulling the reader into the story. The details were such that it felt like real places surrounded the reader. The characters were so well described that they, too, came alive on the pages! The strong love of family could be felt when Macie and Emily chatted on the phone. And best of all, I loved watching Macie and Matt ever-so-slowly fall in love. This is a wonderful book for anyone wanting a slow-burn romance with likable, realistic characters. The best way to describe the story line is totally comfortable.
I first read “Baby it’s cold outside”, so when I started “Don’t mean a thing” I already like the main character, Maci. She moves to the RAAF base in Darwin. To meet people outside of work she decides to attend swing classes where she meet Matt (and other people but he is obviously the most important one). I loved everything about this book, it’s sweet, funny. Heaps of fun!
