After reading positive reviews, I was excited to read this book. The plot sounded very interesting with a young girl sleeping at camp ends up missing only to be found much later in the middle of the road in her sleeping bag.
Eva Rae is an FBI agent in crisis as her husband has left her and her 3 kids….she is now writing a book, so NOT FBI now, and moved into a house near her parents. Her three kids are having major issues over the divorce and the fact Eva can’t even keep food or milk from running out.
Yet the case of the missing young girl intrigues her as does her old friends Coopet and Matt as they both work in law enforcement on the case.
Things heat up when more children go missing and the killer leaves clues about divorce and and trauma.
This could have been a really good book. Interesting plot and some characters work. But way too many subplots!! And the ending, it’s NOT an ending, it doesn’t make sense!! No explanation about Sydney…is she dead?? No explanation about the real dad or why her mother acts the way she does. OMG…. this needed a strong editor. I reread the ending three times, no sense if reality.
The one character, Maddie, she was terrific. Maddie is a survivor…..the rest of the cast, not so much.
This book hit me like a freight train with an end I did not see coming! Non-stop action, a sizzling page turner with wonderfully human aspects!
Willow Rose has a way of creating characters that you love and hate. She keeps the chills running up and down your spine, and your eyes checking out shadows and dark corners. You might not want to be alone when reading her thrillers.
Don’t Lie to Me is the first in the series featuring Eva Rae Thomas and leads us into a world of child abuse, divorce and consequences. This installment is filled with subplots that are skillfully woven together. The storyline grabbed me from the start and kept me reading through every twist and turn with an ending I did not see it coming. The chemistry between the characters was superb! I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
Eva Rae is an ex-FBI Profiler returning to her hometown of Cocoa Beach, FL, with her three children after her husband unexpectedly leaves her. She quit her job to take care of her children and all she wants is a chance to get her life and her children’s back on track. Unfortunately, she isn’t even unpacked yet when she finds the body of a child, then another one goes missing. Before she knows it, she’s been asked to help the CBPD find the kidnapper/killer. The more they investigate, the more dangerous it becomes, especially for those Eva hold near and dear. Can they stop this person before it is too late?
This would be a five-star book, except for some issues. Some of the transitional chapters were confusing, maybe better marking of the flashbacks. Also, I wasn’t looking for errors, but did spot a number of grammar and spelling errors (Not that mine are great). So will give 4-stars for this otherwise stellar thriller. Would love to critique a future ARC.
This is an excellent book for those who love mysteries like I do. There are so many twists and turns, lots of action and suspense, murders and a whole lot of mayhem. The ending was a total surprise. The book would make a great movie.
A parent’s worst nightmare–their child is kidnapped never to be heard from again–unless they turn up dead.
Eva Rae has recently been through a divorce which wasn’t pleasant–she quit her job with the FBI and moved with her three children back to the town where she grew up and where her parents still lived.
She managed to stay out of the investigation until the day one of her best friends came to her door with a woman –her child hadn’t come home-the woman was frantic but for reasons you might understand she could not go to the police.
Meanwhile Eva Rae’s children were acting out–big time. Her old boyfriend’s son (she didn’t even know he had a son) went missing. They found the son’s mother dead—-then Eva Rae’s daughter runs away from home—-Divorce can be really hard on children. Everyone of the missing children had parents who were divorced.
Would they catch the elusive kidnapper/killer? Who it is will stun you as all the lies from Eva Rae’s life were revealed to her.
This is definitely a book worth reading!
I sped through the book, enjoying the main character who doesn’t seem to need sleep. Just the right amount of characters for me to handle and two surprises in the you-can’t-trust-anyone category.
I love Willow Rose her books keep you entertained
I Love a Great Mystery Thriller !! Eva Rae Thomas is a great new character. She is an Ex- FBI Profiler, that returns to her hometown with her children. She promised her children she wouldn’t be going back to her FBI job again. Eva Rae’s return coincidence with the murder of one girl and the disappearance of another.
The local police have come up empty on leads. So Matt Miller, a law enforcement official and also Eva Raes’ ex, goes to talk to Eva Rae about helping them find Sophie. The storyline grabbed me from the start and kept me reading through every twist and turn. This story kept me on the edge of my seat! The chemistry between the characters was thrilling! I didn’t expect the ending!!! I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series! I highly this book!! I enjoy reading books and reviewing through an arc program.
