One moment in time could change her future forever.
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Lorhainne Eckhart comes a riveting and edgy romance about a young love driven to the breaking point.
Even though Claudia is part of the McCabe family, with four older brothers she barely knows, she has a dark side no one in their right mind would mess with, and she still sees herself as alone. … still sees herself as alone. That is until one night, when she witnesses an unspeakable crime that blurs the lines of morality. Her first instinct is to run, but when a mysterious handsome man enters her life, promising to keep her safe, she’s caught up in a web of secrets, not knowing who to trust. When her brothers unite, will they expose the truth or destroy any hope Claudia has of finding love?

In this latest audiobook of the McCabe brothers, the story centers around their young sister, Claudia McCabe. A sister that just recently was introduced to her father and brothers.
She was still feeling a bit isolated from them until the night that changed her entire life . She finds herself in the wrong place when she’s not only in the middle of gunfire, but then is taken by the police and put into an interrogation room. The bright side was having her brothers come to her rescue and meeting detective Martin who believed the story that the person that is accused of the deaths and owning a firearm was not the homeless woman, but the cop that planted the gun in the woman’s belongings. A belief that could cost Tony everything: his job and the girl he just met.
This is a case of bad cops, of how some politicians prefer to point fingers at the homeless in order to send them away, and how little is offered to these individuals. When in fact, society and government should be doing more to assist them in finding a better life, a home and support. Dire circumstances frequently force these individuals go from having a regular life to being in the streets.
Once again, the author provides a topic that is thought provoking and very current.
Kudos to the author for that reminder.
Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Poor Claudia. Going to the coffee shop to meet her friend, she is caught up in a shooting. Unfortunately, she sees something a cop does which will now put her life in danger. A homeless woman. Framed. Two young children. People shot. A woman knifed. Bad cops. And a good one. And he is gorgeous. He is Tony, a detective, and he is as attracted to Claudia as she is to him. Such a great story.
This powerful story covers a topic that we see and heart about so much today. Claudia has grown up and is in community college. She is on her way to meet a friend when the unthinkable happens. She sees a cop drop a gun in a homeless person’s cart. Seeing what happened jeopardizes her safety because now she doesn’t know who she can trust. How will it end for Claudia who has been threatened by the very people who are suppose to serve and protect? Ms. Eckhart spins stories that are awe inspiring and connects with our emotions in profound ways. This is one that you will be thinking about long after you have read it. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This novella packs a lot in a short story.
From the very beginning the story will grab your attention and keep you drawn in from start to finish.
There are a few twist in this story that will keep you reading until you are finished,
I highly recommend this very emotional and socially pertinent tale.
I purchased this story as part of a group of five stories about the McCabe brothers
Claudia McCabe finds herself in the wrong place at the very wrong time, which places her on the wrong side of certain members of her local law enforcement. When Detective Tony Martin steps in to figure out what really happened, he discovers much more than he ever expected. Now Claudia just needs to know if Tony’s on her side or the side of his “brothers in blue.”
This is a gripping tale of bad cops, misuse of power against the very real plight of our nation’s homeless, and the extreme extent some may take to “keep our streets and cities clean.” Although this story is fiction, it dramatically depicts what is wrong with our current system and how we perceive and react to those who end up, often through no fault of their own, living on our cities’ streets. It’s a powerful message that will provoke feelings of outrage and despair over a very broken system of injustice. From the very beginning it will grab your attention and keep you drawn in from start to finish. I highly recommend this very emotional and socially pertinent tale.
