Don’t Keep Silent is the third and final book in Elizabeth Goddard‘s Uncommon Justice series. We finally get to hear Liam’s story and what a story it is! The former undercover DEA agent has returned home to recuperate after having his cover blown and his heart crushed, not to mention the bullet he took to save the life of the woman he loved.
That woman is investigative reporter Rae Burke. She cared about Liam, but needed to save her friend more. She hadn’t meant to use him to get her story. And now, she needs him again. Her sister-in-law has gone missing and Rae’s clues lead her to Liam’s home town, a place she knew he had gone to recover. Will he risk helping her again?
The book begins in a tad confusing, yet intense way that means allowing the story to unfold at it’s own pace. But as it unfolds, it picks up steam. Unraveling the past between Liam and Rae while tangling the web of suspense that could keep them apart forever. It is a tough book to put down!
Liam is a fantastic hero. As a reader, I could track with every decision he made and why he made it. And the ending – his ending – was one of the best I’ve read! Rae was a complicated heroine. Needing help, yet needing answers. Torn between the past and the present.
I highly recommend reading Don’t Keep Silent. Even as the third book in the series, you don’t need to read the first two books first, but they’re great books too and give you a glimpse at Liam before coming to his story. And the ending gave this series a resounding conclusion.

I received this book free from the author in order to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
Loved it from the first page! The author nailed the suspense in this third in the series of the McKade brothers. I admit I’m not too keen on reporters in stories but she made this one believable and understandable. Rae wasn’t out for herself only and her drive to help others was refreshing. Liam is trying to get over the past and have a normal life. Very well written with weather details, life in the mountains, agency red tape, issues we need to fix in today’s society, and the gripping suspense to keep you turning pages. So satisfying. I got the book from the publisher and this is my own opinion.

Thank you in advance to the publisher, Revell, as well as Elizabeth Goddard for sending me a complimentary review copy as part of her launch team. Interestingly I had also requested a copy through Interviews & Reviews, that extra book will be going to my mother for her birthday at the end of the month. She is in for a treat.
Elizabeth Goddard is certainly no newbie at this romantic suspense genre. She’s serious, intense, and doesn’t hold back on the action – at least in this thrilling, exciting, and engaging story. This is the first one I’ve read by her; and in anticipation of it – I got the two previous novels: “Never Let Go” and “Always Look Twice”. I haven’t had a chance to read them, so I can’t say how well connected the books are. But, I can say that Goddard isn’t going to remain a new-to-me author for long.
“Don’t Keep Silent” is the third and final installment of the Uncommon Justice series which features brothers Austin, Heath, and Liam McKade.
Obviously, this is Liam’s story and can easily read as a standalone novel. However, I am sure once a reader sees the connection; they might go ahead and read them in order. As someone who LOVES Romantic-Suspense reads, I had to sign up for the tour. Not knowing if I was approved, I asked for a copy through Interviews & Reviews, and very glad I did!
The covers of the books in the series are similar, only the font has different colors and the “women” featured are to correspond to the particular romantic interest/heroine in the story. Revell has a way of designing covers that immediately pop right out and, for me, grab my attention. I’ve rarely been disappointed with a Revell read.
This installment is told in third person from Rae and Liam’s perspectives. And, Goddard doesn’t hold back – I already said that – but that is essential to remember!
Right off this book starts in a shocking manner! Even the first chapter was thrilling. So much so, I could barely take notes. The action, the secrets – the vivid and descriptive writing really set this one off with a bang!
This is a definitely a pulse-pounding, rapid-pace, action-packed wild ride. That didn’t surprise me from the blurb. But, there were times I was absolutely SHOCKED! Just blown completely away!
It didn’t stop. IT-DOES-NOT-STOP.
Goddard’s writing style kept me interested and the pace/action moving so rapidly I often had to stop to catch my breath. Some of the chapters were short, so obviously moving on with another one was easy to do. While head-spinning at times, it wasn’t that confusing. If there were plot holes, I wouldn’t have noticed them. I appreciate the smaller chapters as I can read through a book a lot faster. Then, there were times I just couldn’t put the book down.
There weren’t that many characters so it wasn’t too hard to keep up with who was related to who. However, some of the supporting characters I had strong feelings about because of how they kept dropping off with regard to interaction.
Brad, Reggie, Sheriff Taggart, Ivan – even Zoey’s mom Samara wasn’t free from seeming like a suspect, especially when it came down to the mysterious book packages. I have to admit, I had NO idea what was going on until the last few chapters, some if it I wouldn’t have guessed.
There was a lot of character development between Liam and Rae, who already had a past run-in when it came to a human trafficking case. And, that comes right back to this story. Again, as I have not read the other two books – I can’t say how well their plots play into this one or if those previous books set this one up. These books are DEFINITELY on the TBR list.
When Goddard isn’t keeping us wound up with action – we’ve got secrets flying around from all directions: Callie, Zoey’s little daughter, has one; the books and Samara; even Alan, Zoey’s husband seems like a good suspect; what about Zoey’s step-dad?? No one and nothing is off the table with this story. The way Goddard writes this – you begin to wonder if Callie’s past was tied into it, perhaps Alan’s past, is Zoey really even innocent? And, that is just in that group.
The author also weaves in the pain and torture of a missing loved one – what the family is put through by investigators as well as the psychological trauma from the loss that is in their own homes. It’s made even worse when one of the family members has special needs such as Autism (Callie). So there is not just an entertainment element to this story, but a human element.
The connection between Rae/Liam was cemented from the beginning, even prior to the story. And, watching them working together and at times him rescuing her, was a beautiful relationship.
This story also had a few other journeys in it – Liam’s was trying to learn where he belonged and what he wanted to do.
Rae’s journey was in getting to the bottom of stories, particularly ones like human trafficking. Being the voice for the voiceless, speaking up, and the responsibility of “don’t keep silent” when you see/hear something wrong. She wanted to please her late father.
This is a worthy conclusion to what seems like a fascinating series.
This is a clean read distributed by Revell – no sex talk and no foul language. There are bible quotes, but the religious and faith themed tones are respectful, and it is not integral to the scene or preachy in nature.
This book is written more for those who have read and enjoy Christian/faith themed Romantic Suspense books as well as fans of the author, especially those who’ve read the previous two books in the series. So, I would definitely recommend it to them.
Goddard Dazzles Readers With A Breathtaking, Snowy Location And Edge Of Your Seat Suspense, Both Leaving Readers Breathless And Devouring The Pages In This Thrilling New Mystery.
From the stunning cover to the fast-paced action, Goddard keeps her readers easily enthralled with the story of investigative reporter Rae Burke and former DEA Agent Liam McKade as they team up to work together in the search for Rae’s missing sister-in-law, Zoey. With danger at every turn and the clock ticking away, can these two find the missing woman before it’s too late?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the two previous books in the Uncommon Justice series and eagerly looked forward to this newest book, which did not disappoint.
The tension in the beginning between these two well-formed characters is pretty intense and for good reason. As the story unfolds, the narrative reveals little bits and pieces about the connection Rae and Liam had over a year ago that nearly cost Rae her life and did cost Liam his undercover career with a bullet in his leg. As Rae throws herself into the investigation of her sister-in-law’s disappearance and Liam battles his own recovery and purpose in life, these two find purpose in their lives together.
The plot in this novel is on point and very dramatic. This story moves quickly, keeps readers guessing and is mysteriously eventful. I loved the edge-of-your-seat scenes paralleled with the re-budding romance between Rae and Liam. Goddard kept me guessing and about half way through the book, really drew me in when the plot thickened and the suspense kicked it up a notch.
The setting was incredible, as Goddard paints a beautiful visual of the Wyoming mountains surrounding the popular resort area of Jackson Hole.
The internal thoughts of the characters is well balanced with dialogue which makes for a great read. While I do wish the romance was a bit more passionate and forthcoming, one particular scene between Rae and Liam offered me my favorite quote from the book. There are also some faith-based elements strewn throughout the story that are light and inspirational, but not overpowering.
Lastly, Goddard wraps up this story in a can’t-turn-the-pages-fast-enough ending that is surprising, fantastic and deliciously dramatic, leaving readers satisfied.
Overall, this is a clean romantic suspense that is appropriate for ages 16+. The mystery is well-planned and the book is exciting. My only wish for this book would have been that the backstory to Rae and Liam was shared right up front, in detail, and that Goddard better balanced the intensity with which Liam dreaded Rae’s insertion back into his life with his falling for her again to make it a bit more believable. It was hard to know what was going on inside his head when the words that came out of his mouth held so much disdain. His actions spoke the exact opposite mid way through and it would have been nice to see him internally struggling with his feelings for her versus her reappearance and his hesitancy.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author and publisher as part of the author’s book launch team. All thoughts below are my own and I was not required to post a positive review.
I love every book by Elizabeth Goddard but the Uncommon Justice series set in the Tetons is great! Rae Burke is an excellent protagonist who is determined to find her missing sister-in-law no matter what! Former DEA agent Liam McKade can’t see himself settling down to help on the family ranch in Wyoming and action seems to follow Liam! When Rae is in danger, Liam is going to protect her! You will get to drive down treacherous mountain roads and go snowmobiling, skiing and snowshoeing while trying to escape the bad guys! There is lots of action and danger in Don’t Keep Silent! Rae and Liam are wonderful main characters. I recommend Don’t Keep Silent to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense! I received a complimentary e-book through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
Elizabeth Goddard has quickly garnered a top spot in my list of favorite suspense authors. Her Uncommon Justice series gives readers a set of characters who have become “friends” and I truly hated to see the series end with “Don’t Keep Silent”.
Goddard seamlessly weaves in faith and romance that comes across as genuine and believable. The characters are unforgettable. She keeps you turning the pages and trying to figure things out. In the end, readers will be left satisfied but wanting more from Goddard.
Wonderful page-turning romantic suspense!!! I loved Liam and Rae’s story, it kept me guessing, and turning pages until the wee hours of the morning! I honestly had no idea who to trust.
This story is about two headstrong people who met before when working on another case when Liam blew his cover to save Rae’s life. They find themselves in another nightmarish situation. Can he trust her after what happened last time? Beautiful rugged countryside and danger at every turn. You won’t want to miss “Don’t Keep Silent” by Elizabeth Goddard.
Great series! I read all three of them in one week!
Looking for a good suspenseful, thrilling edge of your seat with some romance. This book was an absolute thrill to read! I fell in love with Rae and Liam’s story. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t want to put it down and life kept interrupting my reading time! I highly recommend Don’t Keep Silent. Elizabeth Goddard you did it again
I have truly enjoyed each book in the Uncommon Justice series. Don’t Keep Silent is book three, yet can easily be picked up and enjoyed as a stand alone novel.
I thought the author did a fantastic job of keeping me guessing as to how everything was connected in this novel. I felt immersed in Rae and Liam’s investigation, as well as in the action of the book. It was as if I was up on those ski slopes, making my way down the mountain.
I appreciated that even though Liam had been wounded by Rae’s actions in the recent past, both physically and emotionally, he still agreed to work with her. He was such a great character and I liked seeing how these two interacted together. Great romantic suspense!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Don’t Keep Silent, the third book in the Uncommon Justice series by Elizabeth Goddard, is a spine-tingling enthralling wrap up of the last McKade brother. I literally had to put it down and catch my breath several times.
Liam McKade is the youngest brother. A former Air Force pilot and DEA agent. While undercover as an agent he meets investigative reporter Rae Burke who is probing into the same people he is after. She inadvertently causes him to blow his cover and get shot.
She is again inserted herself into his life. He doesn’t trust her but feels a need to protect her and decides to assist her search for her sister-in-law.
I hadn’t read the first two books in the series so went in search of them. I read book one and have ordered book #2. Elizabeth will be another writer I add to my must-read list.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and have reviewed it voluntarily and honestly.
After reading Always Look Twice and Never Let Go the first two books in this trilogy I was anxiously awaiting this third book.
It’s fairly imperative that one read the first two books in this trilogy because all the stories complete the puzzle.
I’ll be honest, I loved this story best. Maybe because it ended all the grey areas for me or simply because I really connected with Rae.
The former DEA agent, Liam McCade, really made this story pop for me too.
Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the first two stories too. I liked Harper and Willow’s stories but Rae is an investigative reporter something I had thought about doing at one time in my life….there’s the connection.
I loved the action and the thrill of the chase.
There’s so much to love about this story!
I also loved the way the author, Elizabeth Goddard weaves faith into the story line.
And, drumroll! TODAY is the premier day for this lovely book!
I’ve read all of the books in the Uncommon Justice series and as soon as I start one of her books I’m immediately immersed in the plot. The plot always captures my attention with it’s detail and how it makes me feel as though I’m witnessing all that’s going on.
From the beginning with the desolation and the snow and frigid cold to the hunt for the missing people you will be on the edge of your seat as you quickly turn page after page til you get to the wonderful finish .
This is part of a series but can easily be read as a stand alone but do yourself a favor and read the whole enjoyable series. It’s the romantic suspense series you’ll be telling your friends to read.
I highly recommend it and am looking forward to whatever the author comes out with next.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you.
All opinions expressed are my own.
“Investigating is excruciating when you have a personal stake in it.” . . . . .
And for Rae Burke, the stakes are incredibly high; not only has her sister-in-law gone missing, but the one man who has the skill set to investigate Zoey’s disappearance probably won’t even speak to her. Approaching Liam McKade is risky business, for both are now “formers” in their fields because of Rae’s previous missteps; she was fired and Liam nearly lost his life. What makes her think that this time will be any different? . . . . . . except that keeping silent is not an option.
This story is incredibly layered, not only with complicated character relationships but with ping-ponging plot lines that propel readers to the edge of their seats and back, while remaining completely perplexed . . . and that’s a good thing. There’s the fast pace that romantic suspense enthusiasts expect and appreciate, but the story also breathes in a way fits the tender moments. And there are those . . . “he knew this moment was meant to be – proof that things happened for a reason, after all. . . . Could they resurrect what they’d shared before?”
A great finish to the series!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. The
Don’t Keep Silent is the third book in Elizabeth Goddard’s Uncommon Justice series. While the story can be read as a standalone I recommend the whole series as it will provide some background to secondary characters and the book does make a few references to previous events.
To find her missing sister-in-law, Rae Burke reaches out to the one man she trusts completely to help her. But Liam McKade nearly died trying to help her the last time. Is he willing to risk his life – and his heart – to help her again? Together, Rae and Liam dig into the past to find the secrets that could save them all. Liam was introduced in the previous book and I really enjoyed hearing his story and seeing cameos from the previous characters in the series. It’s a story about forgiveness and finding where you truly belong. Both Liam and Rae must face their pasts before they can move forward together.
I would describe this book as Christian romantic suspense. The story is action-packed right from the first page. The plot was well developed with lots of twists and turns along the way as Rae and Liam race against time trying to find the truth behind her sister-in-law’s abduction. Goddard does a great job of developing her characters and keeping the story moving. She skillfully weaves the personal conflicts between the two main characters into the overall plot. The story had me guessing right up until the end.
I highly recommend this book (and the series). I think it’s Elizabeth Goddard’s best series yet.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
The final installment of the Uncommon Justice series, Don’t Keep Silent is the perfect ending. If you’ve read Austin and Heaths’ stories, Liam’s story is a must. In true Elizabeth Goddard fashion, just when you know you’ve figured out “who done it,” the script is flipped and you have an ending you never saw coming. My favorite kind of suspense! Full of strong female characters, a plot that twists and turns and a little romance along the way, Don’t Keep Silent is a must read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
From the first paragraph until the last, I felt as though I was riding a rollercoaster blindfolded, always moving forward without any indication of direction or speed. Don’t Keep Silent is, perhaps, the best suspense novel I have ever read. The plot was complex but this author dispensed information to the reader in a timely and logical manner. Following her breadcrumbs (clues) was both exhilarating and entertaining. I loved her characters; Liam and Rae were brought to life on the pages, lovingly created with such detail that in my mind became real persons. Elizabeth Goddard is a gifted writer that wields her words with power and passion. When all the clues were provided, this author took the glut of information and delivered an exceptional conclusion, including an HEA ending.
This novel is the perfect read for an adrenaline junkie!
Loved this intensely suspenseful and action packed adventure wrapped between the pages of a book!
“Her father had told her it was his responsibility to speak up. “Don’t keep silent,”
Reagan has taken his words to heart trying to right the world of evil. However, she just seems to find trouble, or maybe trouble just finds her. Determined to speak for those who can’t speak and for those whose stories go untold, she longs to bring truth and justice to the world. However, she never expects danger to land on her doorstep when her sister-in-law disappears. Searching for the truth, Rae won’t stop until she finds answers. I absolutely loved this third book in the Uncommon Justice series. The McKade brothers all show up for brief glimpses, but this book centers around Liam. The intrigue, suspense and romance read like a rollercoaster ride with masked danger at every turn for this couple. As the thread of criminal activity unfolds, the past and present steamrolls into riveting and chilling suspense. Through it all, the tenacity of this couple drew my heart. There is a heavy theme that is tough to watch play out, but it is handled so well. Seeing glimpses of the McKade family brought happy closure to the series and brought out Liam’s past and present. I loved his character and a lot of questions are answered from his background with the DEA. Raegan’s character was full of grit and determination that I found refreshing.
“This is what I would call an extreme stakeout. But given DEA agent/cowboy Liam McKade, she shouldn’t expect anything less.”
The sparks really fly between these two as they wear their hearts on the edge of their sleeves. The snarky comments and adventures these two go on really bring the book to life. I love their deep desire for answers and finding truth. The protectiveness of Liam with Rae give this book a swoony feel, even as they struggle with the past and future. I would have liked to see a little more background story for this couple, but overall I thought it was great seeing them work through trust issues and where their future would go.
“God, you’re here in this place. In the stars above. In the mountains and the woods, smiling down at me from heaven and here with me now, closer than I can understand.”
Another aspect I enjoy about Goddard’s writing is how she brings God into the story with ease. Liam’s search for direction in his prayers drew my heart. His desire to forgive Rae, but not wanting to open his heart again. Rae struggles with her guilt over what happened between Liam and her in the past. As Rae searches for her sister-in-law, she leans more on God. I love her heart for searching out truth. She has that journalistic drive that at times makes you want to strangle her for not listening to Liam. However, it definitely amped up the adventure making for a fantastic read. This mystery will keep you guessing who is involved right to the end. A great read!
I would recommend this book for anyone who loves romantic suspense. If you love Irene Hannon and Dee Henderson, you will love Elizabeth Goddard. It could be read as a standalone. However, the other books in the series would add more depth to the characters.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley by the publisher, Revell. The opinions given in this review are my own and given honestly.
Ever since I closed my copy of the second book in this trilogy, I have been looking forward to this book. Goddard left just enough of a teaser about the 3rd and last brother in this series, that I couldn’t wait to read it.
Previously to my reading and reviewing this series, I had not read any books by this author, but since reading #1 in this trilogy, I have read several of her Love Inspired Suspense novels and enjoyed them as much as this series.
Don’t keep silent brings together Liam and Rae, who had previously had a romantic relationship that ended very badly…..with Rae blowing his DEA cover on the assignment he was on. This made an interesting dynamic between these two that I enjoyed throughout the book.
The plot for Don’t Keep Silent was very suspenseful and tangled. The author had me pretty much clueless to why Rae’s sister-in-law was missing, and who had taken her. The journey to finding that out was full of drama, suspense, and pretty much non stop action.
The Uncommon Justice Series revolves around three brothers who did not have the best upbringing, thanks to a drunk and sometimes abusive father, and the series showed how each brother dealt with it differently. Liam had run away to the military as soon as he turned eighteen, but being back home forced him to deal with his past. That element in all three books was a sad but necessary issue that needs to be discussed, and Goddard did a great job of addressing it in all three books.
Don’t Keep Silent was a thrilling conclusion to this awesome series, and has left me wanting to read more by this author. And Baker has the first book in her next series on their site: Present Danger, #1 in the Rocky Mountain Courage Series, due out in April.
I do have one slight complaint: about this series. It did center on three brothers, and to me it would have made a lot more sense to have them pictured on the covers instead of the women they were involved with……but I still loved this series and highly recommend it, and anything Godddard has written.
I was provided a copy of this book for review purposes. All opinions in this review are my own.
This is the third book in this series by Elizabeth Goddard but the first book I have read by her and I have to say I was very impressed. This was a great romantic suspense novel that kept me engaged the whole time and kept me on the edge of my seat from page one. I love the interaction between the main characters and I loved how they had to overcome some troubling things from their past in order to work together. After reading this book I want to read the other books in this series so overall, if you like suspense novels then this is a great one to read.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
