I absolutely couldn’t put this book down. Don’t Keep Silent is an adrenaline rush of suspense. The twists keep coming and keep you on the edge of your seat.
Rae and Liam’s seemingly toxic relationship takes them to a new level when they are thrown back together again in a new dangerous situation. I kept wondering if they could solve the case and come out with their hearts intact. The character’s bravery, yet vulnerability is challenged at every turn.
Everything becomes intertwined in their investigation and the past and present collide into a nightmare they could never have anticipated. Highly recommended.
I received an ARC from the author and voluntarily choose to review it.
READING PROGRESS
The last novel in the Uncommon Justice series! I think it’s my favorite novel of the 3 and all 3 were excellent. It’s exciting until the very end. I’m really going to miss the McKade Brothers and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This book centers on the last brother Liam McKade. He’s left the DEA and now helps his brother Heath run the ranch. He’s not sure what he wants to do now, but he’s pretty sure it’s not run the ranch with his brother. He gets a job offer from an old friend to run security on his latest ski resort and who does he run into…Rae Burke. Rae Burke’s sister-in-law is missing and the trail leads her to Wyoming. The very place Liam lives now. Her Liam who she used in another life to help save someone. She needs his help to help her find her sister-in-law. Will he do it? Read this awesome book and find out. You won’t regret it! It’s fast paced and original. Elizabeth Goddard really outdid herself on this book. I loved Liam and Rae’s story. I just wish since it was the end of the series that there was an epilogue. That’s my only compliant!
As with the last book, I read in the Uncommon Justice series there was more receptiveness and dragging along in some areas in this book for me. I did enjoy that there was more suspense in this book; it did keep me very intrigued, and eager to know what was going to happen next. I did not see faith being a strong message in this book as with the last book; there is some mention of God but that is about it. Again, I did not see the romance as much as I did the suspense, which was fine with me as I enjoy the suspense more anyway.
I would like to thank Revell for the ARC of Don’t Keep Silent in exchange for my honest review.
Don’t Keep Silent is another incredible roller coaster ride with thrilling twists and turns, heart-stopping drops, and grab-onto-the-edge-of-your-seat loops! Not a spoiler, just a fair warning, this is NOT a book that you can put down once you start. Rae and Liam keep you caught up in their adventures, and barely let you go at the end of the book! And Zoey, Rae’s missing sister-in-law, is always right there, making herself known in her absence… The McKade brothers, their heroines, all of the friends and family in the Uncommon Justice books are so real that you feel like they are all more than mere acquaintances by the end of each book. This is one of those series that I will want to read over and over again.
I have read all of the books in this series and enjoyed them, and this one did not disappoint.
We take care of some unfinished business, and are updated on the McKade brothers, but don’t get to comfortable, you will soon be holding your breath and page-turning for answers, they will come, and maybe not how you expect.
We experience the beauty of the area around Jackson Hole through the eyes of these characters, but evil is lurking, and they have no regard for human life.
Will all of the characters you care about make it to the end? Will the little one get to see her Mom again? Answers come yes, but surprises abound, and bombshells drop, and you will be ducking as the bullets fly!
I received this book through the Publisher Revell and was not required to give a positive review.
I won this book from the author. An amazing read full of wonderful characters and edge of your seat twist and turns.
Don’t Keep Silent started slowly, but soon I found myself in the middle of myriad tangled webs and many unexpected plot twists. I binge-read the entire second half into the wee hours of the morning to see how everything would turn out! I really enjoyed this story.
(2.5 / 5)
Investigative reporter Rae Burke’s sister-in-law has a secretive and troubled past, so when she disappears, Rae knows it won’t be easy to track her down. However, with the help of former DEA agent Liam McKade, with whom Rae once had a relationship, Rae refuses to give up. Though they are both professionals, it still won’t be easy to put their past behind them, especially since Rae once ruined Liam’s career and almost got him killed. Can they battle bad guys, nature, and their own issues to find Zoey?
This was yet another time when I can’t help but wonder if I read a different book than everyone else. Maybe I’m just far more particular. But while I liked the setting and appreciated some of the characters, overall I had a lot of trouble with this story, especially in the plot and writing style.
I don’t know how to explain it, exactly, but many times, it felt like the author had an outline of things she wanted to have happen in a scene and just sort of threw them together. One paragraph would have 2-3 different, unrelated topics in it, lacking any kind of transition. Conversations didn’t make sense half the time, either because the characters sometimes seemed like they were not having the same conversation as each other, or because the dialog was stilted in general.
As the mystery unfolded, I tried to get involved. The plot itself was decent for most of the story, but the revelations at the end were convoluted and nothing you wouldn’t expect from the set-up. There were some incredible coincidences that I think the author tried to give good reason for, but they fell flat for me, most likely due to how complicated things got. It didn’t help that I felt like I was missing half the story. I know this is book 3 in a series, and I do wish I’d read the first 2 before diving into this one, but I’m pretty sure that the parts related to Rae & Liam’s history weren’t in a previous book. I would have liked more explanation there.
The author’s attempts at suspense fell flat, usually because information seemed to be given sorely out of order. Rae convinces Zoey’s mom that she’s able to help, so Zoey’s mom opens up to her…but then only after being pressed for more info does she mention that the primary suspect has recently been announced dead?! This is just one example of strange or contradictory situations I noted throughout the book.
The book is billed as Christian, but it’s barely that. The main characters give silent, single-sentence prayers every once in a while, pleading with God for other characters to be all right, but that’s about the extent of it. I have no idea what either of them believe, or if they actually trust the God they’re seeking help from.
I really don’t like writing reviews like this, and I certainly wish I’d enjoyed the book more. Based on other reviews, I think it’s safe to say that if you’re interested in this type of book, you should still check it out. Though I’d strongly recommend starting with book 1, as there are things about Liam’s family that are mentioned in this book with no context, and the other two books are about his brothers.
Thank you to NetGalley and Revell for providing me a copy of this book to review.
Elizabeth Goddard’s third book in the Uncommon Justice series, Don’t Keep Silent, is probably my favorite of the series. Even though the temps were in the high 90s when I read it, I was shivering as Rae Burke and Liam McKade search of Rae’s sister-in-law takes them through the slopes and snow banks.
Goddard has done a great job weaving in the very real threat of human trafficking in seemingly benign places, like a ski lodge. She isn’t preachy, but her story reveals the hideous world that is growing at an alarming rate.
This was our book club selection, and I’m glad to become acquainted with this author’s edge-of-the-seat stories.
If you’re looking for a fast-paced, page turner, I can recommend, Don’t Keep Silent.
In Don’t Keep Silent, when journalist Rae Burke’s sister-in-law, Zoey, goes missing, her brother Alan begs her to use all her investigative skills to locate his beloved wife. When the trail leads her to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Rae is reluctant to return to the scene of a previous crime. One that nearly cost her and former DEA agent, Liam McKade, their lives and did cost them their jobs. But Rae has no choice. family comes first. Once in Jackson Hole, it doesn’t take long for Rae and Liam to cross paths. As feelings are reignited, the two confront a past from which neither one has yet healed. Understanding Rae is desperate to find Zoey at whatever the cost—even her own life—Liam sets aside his distrust and once again teams up with her to solve the mystery of the missing sister-in-law. Set against the majestic backdrop of the Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole is a picture-perfect place where danger and romance seem to thrive. At least they do when Rae Burke is in town, when long buried secrets threaten to destroy everybody she cares about. Don’t Keep Silent is the third book in the Uncommon Justice series and will appeal to fans of both Romantic Suspense novels, as well as Christian fiction.
Great book! Set in Wyoming, it has mystery and chases and skiing and romance! It is fast paced from start to finish and would make such a great movie. I loved that the leading man Liam is brave and strong and yet Rae is also.
This book is the third in the Uncommon Justice Series. I have not read the previous two books, so I definitely missed some of the background, but this book stands alone and I really enjoyed reading it. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I am freely writing a review – all thoughts and opinions are my own. I highly recommend it!
This is the third book in the Uncommon Justice series from this author. The plot is a fast paces suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. The realistic setting pulled me in and made me wish I could live there. The characters are what got me with this book. The main characters, Rae and Liam, are both complicated, but each had something just pulled on my heart strings. Rae has been an investigative reporter, but after her last assignment finding a job has been difficult to say the least. Her brother believes in her investigative skills and asks her to look into the disappearance of his wife. Rae knows that where she needs to go and what she needs to do would be better with the assistance of Liam, but that’s going to be a bit of a problem considering he blames her for blowing his cover while on a long assignment. Unfortunately, Liam knows Rae plows ahead with ideas before thinking of danger which can get her in danger. As the search for Zoey begins, each quickly realize that this is something bigger is at play an danger lurks at every corner.
I loved this book!!
This is a book has elements of faith, a touch of romance, suspense, and mystery. This was a once setting read for me. I love how the author touches on the subject of autism and gave a realistic description and detail.
*I received this book from the author via the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The past and present may eliminate any future…
It’s a real toss-up for me whether Don’t Keep Silent or Never Let Go is my favorite book in Elizabeth Goddard’s riveting Uncommon Justice series. They are both so good! Maybe I’ll just stick with each one being my favorite when I read it.
There were several things that impressed me with Don’t Keep Silent. Elizabeth Goddard’s vivid descriptions of the Wyoming wilderness during wintertime left me shivering despite the 90+ degree temps outside. There was an emotional depth and a connection between characters and readers that can sometimes be absent in romantic suspense due to the need for non-stop action. Don’t get me wrong, this book IS action-packed but there is much more to the story. But, what impressed me the most was the sheer complexity of the mystery. There are so many disparate threads that can’t possibly connect, and yet they do in the most surprising ways. The story is easy to follow, don’t worry about that, but it’s still a bit of a ‘wow’ moment when you finally see all of the clues fall into place. And the final showdown totally had me on the edge of my seat.
I really enjoyed this third and final book in the Uncommon Justice series. As a conclusion it was very good and I was pleased that the McKade brothers finally get the answers to the mystery that has long haunted them. Don’t Keep Silent more than lived up to my anticipation after reading the first two books and I would recommend them all to any fan of Christian romantic suspense. I now I can’t wait to find out where Elizabeth Goddard will take readers now that Uncommon Justice is finished…
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Don’t you love when a book’s storyline has you on the edge of your seat? That’s exactly how it was for me with Don’t Keep Silent !
The prologue of this story sets the reader up for chapter after chapter of what feels like a wild goose chase! Rae has to find her sister-in-law, but WHERE is she?! I had to keep myself in check to not turn to the end of the story to figure out what the heck was going on with her. Was she dead or alive?!
I really enjoyed getting to know Rae and Liam better – to finally understand why Liam was so cut off from his brothers. Enter, Rae, who had a part of that puzzle. Their “reunion” basically had me saying to myself, “uh oh!” Liam, of course, couldn’t help his natural instinct to help even if he doesn’t want to.
The path to figuring out who took Rae’s sister-in-law was a long and winding one. Trying to deduce who was involved and how was frustrating… for me AND the characters. lol Yes, I was questioning nearly everyone who entered the story!
As you read through Don’t Keep Silent you can get the sense of what it’s like to live in Jackon Hole, which was an amazing aspect of the story. You can almost feel the isolation of the outlying cabins, riding snowmobiles in the back country, and what it must be like to ski down a mountainside!
There’s a lot of action throughout the entire story! Liam and Rae have constantly got to watch their backs! People are trying to keep them from getting any closer to figuring out what’s going on in this vacation town along with what’s happened to Zoey. Being run off the road, bumped off the ski trail, or being kidnapped, it seems like someone is willing to do whatever it takes to not let them find any answers!
Don’t miss out on book 3 of the Uncommon Justice series!
*I received this book for review as part of the launch team. I wasn’t asked or required to write a good review.
Investigative reporter Rae Burke is desperately searching for her missing sister-in-law. The clues lead her back to Jackson Hole, Wyoming where former DEA agent, Liam McKade resides on the family ranch. Rae and Liam have a dangerous history. This investigation could bring more harm to the McKade family.
I was immediately drawn into the story. The twists and turns kept me turning the pages. I so appreciate the spiritual truths woven throughout this compelling story. Don’t Keep Silent is a very satisfying conclusion to the series.
Recommend to those who enjoy inspirational, romantic suspense.
I won a copy. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
Almost the last person for DEA agent Liam wants to see in his hometown is Rae. She is the woman that blew his cover, risked his life and broke his heart. Investigative reporter Rae wants Liam to know that she wasn’t using him and that she needs his help finding her missing sister-in-law. At first Liam refuses to help, but he knows that Rae’s impulsive behavior will get her in danger again. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This book is as engaging and suspenseful as the other books in the series. I didn’t like Rae’s impulsive behavior which put her on the edge of danger. I believe that she should have matured after putting Liam and herself in danger previously. Also, while Liam’s caring was evident, it was harder to see Rae’s caring for Liam. Overall, this is an exciting read and I look forward to more books by this author.
Don’t Keep Silent is the third book of the Undercover Justice trilogy by Elizabeth Goddard. It is inspirational romantic suspense that kept me guessing until the end. If you are looking for a book that will capture your interest and take you away, this just might be it.
Rae Burke is an investigative reporter who is dedicated to digging deep to uncover her story. That story is a little too close to home this time, because she is trying to find her missing sister-in-law. This brings her directly to Liam McKade, the former DEA agent who almost lost his life saving hers. Neither one is exactly excited to be crossing paths with the other again, but Liam finds himself protecting Rae when she finds herself in danger.
I was excited to have the opportunity to read this book in one sitting, thanks to a long layover. I would not have been able to put it down! I was hooked from the prologue with a mystery woman and I was kept guessing until the end. (You will just have to read the book to learn her identity!) Elizabeth Goddard did an excellent job describing the beautiful setting and the characters. I felt as though I could have been neighbors of theirs in Wyoming. Both Rae and Liam are scared of getting too close to each other, for their own reasons, including forgiving each other (an issue that hits close to home for many). I was rooting for them to overcome their obstacles as much as I wanted them to find Rae’s sister-in-law.
The story had plenty of twists and turns, and it did keep me guessing as I tried to figure out how it would come out (I was close!) While it is the final book of the trilogy, it stands well on its own, because the main characters are different. I would recommend Don’t Keep Silent to anyone who enjoys an inspirational, romantic, suspenseful story. Just be sure to block out a nice chunk of reading time because you will not be able to put it down! Or perhaps you will stay up past your bedtime…
I received a review copy from the publisher, but was not required to leave a positive review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own.
With a setting in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Wyoming, a cast of emotionally layered, engaging main characters, and a bigger cast of characters of questionable integrity, Elizabeth Goddard has penned a fantastic finale to her series. I’ve been eagerly awaiting Liam McKade’s story after reading the first two books of this series about his brothers. Life with the McKade brothers is never dull, and Liam is no exception. His past history with investigative reporter Rae Burke lead to a near disaster, and he has no desire to get involved with her again, but when she shows up seeking his help, he can’t turn her down. Rae is courageous, compassionate, but a little headstrong and impulsive, and Liam has his hands full trying to help her find her missing sister-in-law while also trying to keep Rae and himself alive.
Filled with heart-stopping suspense, intrigue, a dash of romance, and lots of action, this book kept me guessing through all the twists and turns. Although it’s the last in her Uncommon Justice series, it can be read as a stand alone book. I enjoyed the short appearances of a few former characters from the first two stories of the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Talk about twists and turns and a total rollercoaster ride! This book is THAT! What starts out as a search for her missing/perhaps abducted sister-in-law turns out to be so much more for journalist, Rae Burke. Along the way, she can’t believe how little she really knew about her sister-in-law although she knows some of her secrets, just not all of them! I felt so bad for the husband! How terrible it must be for him to know that his wife had secrets, even when they married, but when she goes missing, he has no clue about how deep those secrets really go! Then, Rae must face her past and ask for help from the one person that she hurt – Liam McKade. He was a DEA agent on an undercover assignment and while doing an investigation, she not only blew his cover, she almost got him killed! Now with her sister-in-law missing, Rae needs his help to find her and they battle the winter elements of the Wyoming Grand Tetons to track down the culprits but never imagining what they will ultimately uncover. This book hooked me from the beginning and although it’s part of a series, you can definitely read it as a standalone. It’s fantastic!
“Love meant nothing if it didn’t remain through the worst possible struggles. Love meant nothing if it wasn’t unconditional. Then it wasn’t love at all. ”
Don’t Keep Silent is the third book in the Uncommon Justice Series. This series is a must read! Rae Burke is an investigative journalist. Liam McKade is a former undercover DEA agent. Liam met Rae while working to uncover a drug and human trafficking ring that Rae had been writing an
exposé about. Liam blew his cover in order to save Rae and they went their separate ways. Liam is living on his family’s ranch in Jackson Hole trying figure out what to do with his life. Now Rae’s sister-in-law is missing and her disappearance has led Rae back to Jackson Hole and Liam McKade the one man she could never forget. When Rae shows up in Jackson Hole, her life is threatened and she needs help. She turns to Liam to protect her and help her find her sister-in-law. Can Liam keep Rae safe without breaking his heart wide open?
Elizabeth Goddard writes a wonderful tale of suspense, murder, secrets, and pure evil being brought to light by the loyal and hard working people of Jackson Hole. This book and series is filled with page turning non-stop action. I love the depth of characters Goddard writes. Rae is a strong female protagonist but we see her pushing through despite her self doubt and fears. Liam is the ultimate protector. We see his reliance on God when things become more than he can handle. Liam must find a way to get past his resentment towards Rae and her involvement in his blown undercover identity. His struggle with loving her and getting beyond the past resentment is obvious. I love how Goddard writes about her characters’ faith in God, or lack their of and their struggle to find God amidst the trials of life.
I would definitely recommend this book and anything written by Elizabeth Goddard. If you like the works of Dee Henderson or Lynette Eason then you are sure to like this book as well.
I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.
