“It was how he felt once, and he realized that he’d lost himself. Rae was helping him find himself again.”
Elizabeth Goddard once again delivers an action-packed, intense romantic suspense with an intricate and well-crafted plot. The chase to find the villain is full of twists and turns and the sheer brilliance in the complexity of the plot can truly be appreciated only at the conclusion of the book. This is book 3 in Uncommon Justice series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. If you enjoy romantic suspense, this book is a must-read for your summer reading list.
Liam, a former DEA agent, is still the fierce warrior who finds his purpose in protecting those in need, uncovering injustice, and bringing justice to the world. Rae, a former investigative reporter, is equally fierce in uncovering injustice and attempting to right the wrongs of the world by not staying silent. They have a tricky past which led to Liam resigning from the DEA and floating in a sea of uncertainty. Rae gets pulled into a secretive world of kidnappings and trafficking when she sets out to find out where her sister-in-law disappeared to. They’re thrown into a rollercoaster ride of a lifetime when Rae’s search brings her to Liam’s hometown and they’re almost immediately targeted by someone who is bent on scaring them from digging further. If you’ve followed the series, you’ll be delighted to see Liam’s brothers Austin and Heath with their happily-ever-afters in their cameo appearances.
I received a copy of the book from Revell/Baker Publishing Group and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
This book begins with a heartstopping abduction – and then leaves you in suspense!! You have to keep reading!! From the beautiful setting in the Wyoming mountains, intriguing characters, and enough twists and turns to keep you engrossed in this final book of the Uncommon Justice series. Rae Burke is an investigative reporter looking for her missing sister-in-law and Liam McKade is an ex-DEA agent who has taken a bullet for Rae once. Will he be willing to help her again? Or will their past cause them both to be in danger? Can they figure out this mystery and possibly figure out their relationship before someone dies? I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher and author but all opinions are my own.
This series has been so good! I liked the complexity of the plot in this book, as the different threads slowly begin to connect as the plot rushes through the fast-paced action. The romance starts as the banter of old enemies and grows into a realistic relationship. I liked both Rae and Liam a lot and enjoyed reading about their interactions and growth. The romance is clean and believable. The story is well written and I found myself flipping pages late into the night. I liked the spiritual concepts that were woven into the action, although they are subtler than some other Christian fiction. I liked this book and have enjoyed the whole series! I recommend this to lovers of romantic suspense!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Don’t Keep Silent
by Elizabeth Goddard
Book 3 in the Uncommon Justice series
Rating: 4/5
Wow. That was an intense read! From the very beginning you get swept away into this world where the reader cannot stop reading until the end. I have not read the first two books in the series but I need to now that I’ve had a taste. It’s been a while since I’ve read anything by Elizabeth Goddard but this book did not disappoint.
Rae Burke is an investigative reporter with a heart for justice that is desperately trying to find out what happened to her sister-in-law, Zoey, who recently went missing. Her search leads her to Wyoming where Zoey’s mother lives and also where her favorite former DEA agent, Liam McKade, lives. They met while she was on assignment overseas and unfortunately, things ended when Liam got shot saving her life and blew his cover. She hopes she can explain what happened and win back Liam’s trust. Rae knows she needs his investigative help and protection if she’s going to find her sister-in-law before it’s too late. Can Liam learn to trust Rae again after she used him and broke his heart?
From the very beginning, I was hooked. This story is fast-paced and full of action and intrigue. I loved the characters and their motivations for what they did. Since this book was from a Christian publisher, I was expecting more faith aspects to be incorporated but they were nearly absent. Some of the scenes with Rae’s brother could have been better with a faith aspect but that’s only my opinion. This absence is why I rated it one less star. Everything else about this story is very well done and well written.
I highly recommend this book if you enjoy clean romantic suspense.
My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.
A thrilling story involving an investigative reporter, Rae and an ex DEA agent, Liam and Race’s missing sister in law. Rae and Liam have a past that went awry during a mission. Back together searching for her sister in law they stumble across something larger than they thought. It involves people involved in human trafficking and drugs leading back to the previous case. Lots of danger to be found. Also some buried feelings between Rae and Liam resurface but can they put it on hold until the case is over or will they go separate ways like the last time. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Note: This is the third book in the “Uncommon Justice” series. This book is a Christian romantic suspense book. Setting a book in Colorado and Wyoming during the winter made me nostalgic for my own time spent in Jackson Hole (where I “met” my husband on a church ski trip). But there is NO way that I would be willing to attempt the skiing parts of this book. (I don’t think that really is a spoiler). Actually throughout the book, it was quite clear to me that the female heroine was much braver than I could ever be!
While it could be a stand-alone, the reader might appreciate meeting the characters found in books 1 & 2. They work well together. Liam McKade was the brother that no one was sure about in the first two books in this series. Now that he gets his “own” book, we figure out why.
Rae Burke is determined to protect her family. Actually rather she is always looking out for those who cannot help themselves. This is a grand quality, but her impulsive actions do cause her to land in tricky situations. (A few times in the book, I truly was unsure that she was going to survive). She comes to understand that while she was acting on behalf of others, she also was seeking approval.
Liam is feeling a bit lost. Once Rae returns to his life, he makes it his mission to protect her. Their relationship was interrupted. Determining how to right the wrongs was definitely a challenge for both characters.
The sister-in-law who is an important part of the story was definitely clever. This novel demonstrated the fact that being skeptical of certain situations is sometimes wise. While the author dropped clues, there were quite a few sketchy situations that were not resolved until the end.
The only drawback: I would have liked an epilogue especially since this is the last book in the series. I felt like the ending was slightly abrupt. Maybe interaction between all of the characters in the other book? Otherwise I did really enjoy it. My rating is a 4.8 star.
Thank you to NetGalley and Revell Publishers for allowing me to read this book before it was released. I wanted to be able to review because I think more people should read this author’s books. All opinions in this review are my own.
HEART-STOPPING PAGE-TURNER!
Elizabeth Goddard has brought readers a true heart-stopping page-turner with her latest release DON’T KEEP SILENT (Uncommon Justice Book 3). This book is one that will keep you up way into the night! From beginning to end, Goddard takes readers straight into super fast-paced, story of forgiveness (when it is not easy or deserved), honor (that has been earned) and justice (deserved punishment).
It is the story of Investigative Reporter Rae Burke who has traveled from Denver to Wyoming in search of her missing sister-in-law. Only she is going to need the help of the one person in the world who would probably rather never see her again, former DEA agent Liam McKade. The last time Rae saw Liam, she blew his cover on an investigation years in the making and ended with him taking a bullet for meant for her. The trouble is she knows he is the best in the business. When they finally meet to discuss the situation of the missing sister-in-law, they both realize there is much more going on between them than a working situation but both are too afraid to take a risk. Soon, Goddard plunges these two characters into the depths of intrigue that will leave you breathless!
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
Author Elizabeth Goddard concludes her “Uncommon Justice Series” with Book Three, “Don’t Keep Silent”. Each book features one of the three McKade brothers–lawmen from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. In “Don’t Keep Silent”, former DEA agent Liam McKade once again crosses paths with Rae Burke, an investigative journalist. Rae’s interference with Liam’s last case almost cost him everything–including his life. Now, she needs Liam’s help to find her missing sister-in-law, whose secrets have apparently come back to haunt her. When Liam is compelled to join the search, danger lurks all around them–including the undeniable attraction between the two of them. It will take courage, skill, and a great deal of faith to overcome the obstacles they face. An involving romance featuring Wyoming’s natural beauty, visits from “the other brothers”, and a simmering awareness between the leads, “Don’t Keep Silent” is top-notch contemporary inspirational romantic suspense.

Investigative reporter Rae Burke almost got DEA Agent Liam McKade killed a while back. Now Rae is in Jackson Hole, Wyoming to ask for Liam’s help finding her missing sister-in-law Zoey. Liam has been restless, not knowing just what he wants to do after leaving his job at the DEA. Rae’s arrival in Jackson Hole shocks him. Together they try to find Zoey. Their endeavors are filled with much danger and deception. This story is definitely a heart-stopping, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride of action and suspense. I loved the main characters, Rae and Liam. They are so strong and fearless. The secondary characters enhance the storyline with their relationships and actions.
Don’t Keep Silent by Elizabeth Goddard is the third book in her Uncommon Justice series and my favorite. Elizabeth Goddard’s writing talent shines brightly in this story. I love her writing style.
DON’T KEEP SILENT….Elizabeth Goddard
Liam a former DEA agent working undercover was injured while saving Rae an investigator journalist. She was writing about the trafficking of women.
He was at the ranch healing from injuries, and she has come back looking for a missing sister in law. She blew his cover, and now he is back having to
protect her. This was more of a suspense with the romance being the second element, which I liked. Good series by the author, slow moving, at the beginning so one gets the details of what is going on.
Given ARC. by Net Galley and Revell for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
“Too many ways to die in this scenario flashed through her mind all at once.”
With action, adventure, and intense danger at every turn, author Elizabeth Goddard takes readers back to the majestic valley of Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the beautiful snow-covered Rocky Mountains, where secrets from the past never stay hidden for long. Even though Don’t Keep Silent is the third book in Elizabeth Goddard’s Uncommon Justice series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone novel.
When investigative reporter Rae Burke’s sister-in-law goes missing, she turns to former DEA agent Liam McKade to help her. Unresolved feelings from the past are the least of their problems, as attempts on their lives take a shocking turn.
Don’t Keep Silent is the perfect conclusion to the Uncommon Justice series, and fans of the McKade brothers will love the cameo appearances of Austin and Heath throughout the novel. Elizabeth Goddard’s breathtakingly beautiful descriptions of the scenery make me want to visit Wyoming and stay at the fictional Emerald M Guest Ranch. Readers will not be able to put this book down! The action and adventure keep readers captivated in the storyline as they try to piece together the clues of the puzzle along with Rae and Liam.
Don’t Keep Silent is highly recommended for readers of romantic suspense, especially those who enjoy books by authors such as Dani Pettrey, Lynette Eason, and Susan May Warren.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
“Flirting with her was playing with fire.”
This book was amazing! It was the perfect conclusion to an action packed series, although I was sad to see it end.
I loved these characters! They were so perfect for each other and relatable. They were the kind of people I would love to know in real life.
This book was a perfect blend of suspense, romance, and faith. They were woven together so beautifully that nothing overshadowed anything else.
I highly recommend this book to anyone.

Don’t Keep Silent has been on the top of my to be read list for 2020!
With a cover like this one I expected this to be my favorite of the series. Sadly, I was wrong. Now, don’t get me wrong! I enjoyed Don’t Keep Silent, I just didn’t find it to be my favorite in the Uncommon Justice series.
Liam’s and Rae’s relationship was one that I loved following. I just didn’t love the way that the suspense was carried out, and it may be that this is just me at this time, I don’t know.
While in all I loved Don’t Keep SIlent, I was somewhat disappointed that Liam was the only McKade brother that was in more than a couple of scenes. I had hoped to see the brothers and their spouses together.
Still, I look forward to more of Goddard’s books!
Due to the crimes dealt with this book is recommended for 16/18 up.
I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
‘If no one ever held his heart, then he’d never have his chest ripped open and his heart pulled out and cut to pieces.’
Elizabeth Goddard brings her Uncommon Justice series to a close with the last McKade brother’s story. Liam McKade is a former DEA agent who nearly lost his life keeping investigative reporter Rae Burke safe and alive. Now he is back at his family’s ranch and she shows up in town trying to find her missing sister in law.
I have been looking forward to this book and Goddard doesn’t for a minute. the suspense continues throughout and I absolutely could not put it down nor discover the culprit! Goddard throws a few surprises in to keep the reader on tender hooks, too. Well written, great characters and unrelenting suspense make for a great reading time. Don’t Keep Silent is the perfect finale to this great series.
‘God, what path do I take?’
*My thanks to Revell Publishers for a copy of this book. The opinions here are entirely my own.
I so enjoyed this story!
I love how Elizabeth Goddard weaves mystery into her books to keep you on the edge of your seat. Her style of writing is fantastic while at the same time the characters seem realistic and believable. ( It’s what I love about her books).
Lots of twists and turns throughout the book and some of these I didn’t see coming! I love guessing at the whodunit scenarios.
The supporting characters weren’t well liked but that’s to be expected. To me, it’s what made the story so awesome!
I enjoyed Liam and Rae’s story so much and I was glad to see Austin and Heath back too if only for a short while.
I really enjoyed the plot. It was interesting to see how the investigators go about their searches for missing people although some of it did send some shivers down my back. That’s my favorite part of the book is learning what they do and how they do it.
I’ve watched a lot of shows like this but I think I’d rather read about it.
Indeed money is the root of all evil. Always has been, I think it’s in how people use it.
Liam and Rae certainly have a lot to overcome but I was rooting for them through the entire story. I think that if things were meant to be God would certainly orchestrate it wouldn’t He? I like to think so.
I’ve really enjoyed this series and I hope there’s more to come. I hate saying goodbye for now.
But, I will say this this book is certainly worth the reread. I loved every minute of it and it kept me from facing whatever is going on with me right now.
I wish that I could give this book more than 5 stars because wow it was just amazing!
I highly recommend this book for everyone!
My thanks to Netgalley and Revell publishing for a wonderful story! I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
“His past followed him here, and he couldn’t let it out of his sight. ~Liam”
“While she’d never been a big fan of silence—keeping quiet about wrongdoing was the worst kind of evil in her opinion. ~Rae”
I was looking forward to getting to know Liam McCade when he was first introduced in “Always Look Twice”. Trying to find his way after leaving the DEA, he runs into Reagan Burke, the investigative reporter who almost cost him his life. But how could he resist helping her find her missing sister-in-law when she asked? Maybe his heart hadn’t healed after all.
What I always like about Goddard’s writing is she keeps your nose to the pages with her fast-paced stories. This one picked up speed after about the halfway mark, but that certainly doesn’t mean it was slow up to that point. She laid the foundation for a good story-line in the first half so that the reader could anticipate what was going to happen. Kind of like watching a scary movie where your adrenaline was pumping hard! I liked these characters, they had depth to them and I think Goddard did a great job of making them seem real. There’s a good balance of suspense and romance; I loved watching it play out between Liam and Rae. They have a lot to overcome, killers to catch, death to defy, danger to avoid and a missing person to find. Oh and the scenery was breathtaking! I’m not a skier but I could see the beauty of “cowboy powder”, the fresh snow on top of a mountain, undisturbed with an undercurrent of danger that Goddard included. The bitter cold and snow just added to the already tense story; I could literally feel it in my bones!
This book is labeled as Christian fiction and I found it to contain a very light faith thread. I guess maybe I’m different than some readers in the fact that I like it stronger in the stories I read. But this did contain enough of an element that you could tell both Liam and Rae did serve God & rely on Him when danger mounted. I just wished it would have played out a bit more!
“Who could understand why life unraveled beneath them? No one. She wouldn’t ask the creator of the universe why, because there would be no way to comprehend His answer. All she could do was trust Him to make a way for her. To hold her in the palm of His hand. ~Rae”
All in all, if you are a romantic suspense fan who loves a tense book, one that you have a hard time putting down, I think you will enjoy “Don’t Keep Silent”! Though this is the third and final book in the Uncommon Justice series, this is perfectly fine reading by itself. Of course, I always recommend reading the whole series, it’s just too good to miss!
