“This book sparkles and sizzles with Siskind’s trademark humor and heat. Don’t go missing this one!” ~ Jen DeLuca, author of WELL METSome people would call Clementine Abernathy a criminal. She considers herself a modern day Robin Hood, who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Not exactly on the up-and-up, but she knows what it’s like to lose everything. Her latest heist involves swiping a … heist involves swiping a priceless Van Gogh from its owner, who’s supposed to be an egotistical trust-fund brat.
Turns out Jack David is a sexy, kind-hearted man…and Clementine is in trouble. Falling for her mark would make her the World’s Dumbest Conwoman, but Jack is charmingly persistent, always singing sweet songs in her ear.
And that earth-shattering kiss? She never stood a chance.
Now she’s imagining a fresh start with this dashing man, but that means telling Jack about her past. And other nefarious sorts are after the same painting. Too soon, Clementine learns what it means to risk it all for love.

“I can’t help falling in love” WITH THIS BOOK. I should leave it right here with this teaser but I want to make a comment. The saying “before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes” is a reminder of the most effective way to practice empathy. In this story, Kelly Siskind makes the reader feel every emotion from hurt and humiliation to frustration and exhaustion to success and passion. Sure there is enough humor to entertain but it is a gift when an author not only transports a reader to another place but makes him or her feel every single raw emotion as if it was happening on a personal level. WOW!
So Much Fun!!!
I adored Clementine – a unique and quirky character who melts your heart. Chemistry zips between Clementine and Jack (another quirky sweetheart!) while they get to know each other. Their vulnerabilities make them struggle to find their way. The story takes more than a few unexpected twists and turns and I stayed up WAY too late to finish it. Give yourself a treat and pick this one up!
Another terrific book from Kelly! This one was charming, and funny, and adorable, and quirky… everything I love in a romance. The characters are fun. The setting makes you want to meet the folks in this town. Kelly is quickly turning into one of my favorite authors, and books like this one are why!
What can I say about this book and this author that I haven’t already said in my previous reviews — my goodness, she writes such incredible, unique plots that draw you into these characters, break your heart sometimes and always make you laugh out loud. Jack and Clementine are no exception — I loved Jack immediately and had so many “feels” for Clementine. Reading about her tough childhood broke my heart, but watching her grow into a strong, independent and brave woman lifted my heart! And Jack’s loyalty and devotion to his family is so admirable and just adds to his attractiveness. But this is more than just a contemporary romance between Jack and Clementine — there are always secondary stories in Kelly’s books that set her books apart — this one, it’s the Elvis festival, the quirky pets that they share, the heartbreaking emotions that one goes through when there’s illness in a family and of course, the twist I didn’t see coming — at all! These characters definitely stole my heart and I’m sure they’ll steal yours as well — If you’re a fan like I am, don’t miss out on this incredible read by Kelly Siskind!
I enjoyed this book but felt like parts for me were a little predictable. I really liked Clementine but there were parts where she just broke my heart. Maxwell “Jack” was wonderful as well. I feel like a little bit was left hanging on his story with work and the townspeople. I liked the mention of our friends in New Orleans and I’m still waiting on the other brothers stories there!!
Cute romance with a side of crime! It was a little overdone at points, but the ending made me smile. Also, love that the characters went to therapy at the end!
too much introspection
This one started off a little slow for me, then picked up nicely. Clementine and Jack had great chemistry. Not only was the love story interesting, the plot about stealing the painting was also interesting. I recommend this one.
easy read. I couple times I thought I was getting close to the end and then there would be a plot twist.
Sorry to say it is a very slow read. The characters are not fascinating enough to keep me reading and their way of thinking abot everything twice is not the way I prefer my main protagonists to behave. I stopped midway and started another book,
Unique storyline! Somewhat of a modern-day Robin Hood, Clementine steals from the wealthy to give back and save the poor. Starting to feel unfulfilled, she starts to question her job but continues to take jobs. Her latest is to steal an expensive painting from a trust fund kid named Jack who has done his staff from his family’s company wrong. But things end up different with this job when Clementine meets Jack and gets to know him and starts to realize things don’t add up with what she was told about the job and the actual Jack. As the pair continues to spend time together, the chemistry gains traction and the feelings start to emerge for each other. But when Clementine starts to relay her findings and thoughts to her handler/boss, things turn potentially deadly for Clementine, Jack, and his family. I will tell you that I didn’t see the end of this book coming, but it was what absolutely made it for me. I was a little disappointed by the epilogue of the book, where we find out that people got away and justice wasn’t really served, but I was happy that Jack and Clementine got their HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
