I’m not scared of loving someone, I’m scared of them not loving me enough.HawkI met Amelia right after my father died. With just a smile, she reached into the depths of my depression and brought me out of the dark place my mind had gone to, filling me with light. She gave me purpose, hope, and something worth fighting for—us…she just doesn’t know it yet. I’ve been watching her every move since … watching her every move since that day—listening, learning—waiting for the day she graduates to rescue her from the life she shies away from. I have a plan, and no one will stop me. She’s going to be mine.
Amelia
I have issues. I’m the first one to admit my brain doesn’t shut up—ever—and holding on to my v-card like it’s a hall pass to heaven, is insane. I’m a junior in college. I’ve dated guys and some of them even made me want to commit. I never have. That might all change with him, but he’s definitely not the ending my friends want for me.
Connor’s different, or maybe I’m different with him. When it’s just the two of us things are comfortable, easy, simple—but my heart doesn’t always beat to the same tune as my thoughts, and that frustrates me. I’m losing control and people are noticing—people who can break me.

**** I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. ****
I found this book on a facebook group where authors offer ARCS through forms. I found the blurb really interesting because I wanted to figure out who Hawk was and why he was so obsessed with Lia. I just had to know what the big deal was and the more I read the more disturbed I was with this Hawk character.
He knows so much about her and is always around and basically stalks her but us as the reader barely know much about him. It’s creepy. He has infiltrated all parts of her life and it is so weird. He makes everything seem like a chess game. I don’t think that any of the characters have figured out that he is playing them like chess pieces and takes them out one by one when their usefulness is done.
I do have to say that this book is definitely one of a kind. There is just so much going on with the suspense between this guy Hawk and also other weird happenings going on. There are pranks and murder as well.
Lia also has so much going on with her love life that it is a wonder that she doesn’t have vertigo or whiplash. I feel like she has so much going on and it really keeps things interesting throughout the book. Although she does seem like she isn’t sure how she feels about whom. Poor thing. So many guys and so many feelings in the way… then there is Robins… !
Oh and I really love her friendship with Robins and how he calls her Pooh Bear. There is most definitely something there between them. I hope that it works out between them because the way they are together is just the best. I ADORE them together and the chemistry is great. Ugh someone help me now ! I just love these two. If we could just clear all of the BS out of the way and get these two together that would be great. Thanks.
I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book because the ending to this one was kind of shocking but not at the same time. I just… I need more. I need these things resolved for Lia. I want things to work out. Someone please help this girl. Seriously.
Knights After My Heart by Sonya Jesus is an intriguing young adult book filled with twists and turns. The main character of the book is Amelia. Amelia has not had much success in the way of relationships.
But she has a prospective new boyfriend, Connor, who has been after her to be his girlfriend. She is somewhat reluctant and has always had a habit of shutting herself down when it comes to the men in her life when things get confining. The problem with Amelia accepting Connor as her boyfriend is complicated. It brings up issues of jealousy, past relationships, it brings on new ones, and sparks anger in others that could ruin her everyday life.
As a college student at Westbrook University and the possibility of a new boyfriend, Amelia has a lot going for her. But things are not that simple for this young women. Amelia is popular and seems to have it all. But, to what extent will Hawk go to in order to make Amelia his queen?
Knights After My Heart is one wild ride. It is a romantic mystery filled with fascinating characters and interesting plot twists. I couldn’t put it down and devoured it to the very last page, which was a cliffhanger, causing me to want to quickly get the next book in the series in my hands. With the appealing descriptions and activity of college life, all readers will love to reminisce and dream about college life. This is such an entertaining, beguiling, and riveting sexy story. Perfectly crafted with powerful believable characters.
The wonderful descriptive writing put me right on the scene watching on as the story unfolded. I could see and feel the emotions and relate to what the characters were going through.
The romance in this book is also unique and there is an unexpected twist in the form of a love triangle of sorts. This book is full of mystery with suspicious behavior making it an enthralling suspenseful novel to revel in and be startled by. I became unnerved on many occasions and was stricken speechless.
The characters are fabulous and well developed with strengths, flaws and attitudes. They are relatable and likable except for the questionable and somewhat creepy guy, Hawk. The story is told in two POV’s, Amelia’s and Hawk’s. It works well with in the storyline and flows seamlessly. I was fully impressed by the way Sonja Jesus wrote the dialogue between the characters. She has a unique original voice that resounds on every page. I am definitely going to read more from author Sonya Jesus. Chick Lit Cafe highly recommends Knights After My Heart by Sonya Jesus
I was hooked right from the beginning! And with each page I became more invested in the characters!
Amelia is an unorthodox college student in and othrodox environment. Little does she know her safe little world is about to be turned upside down and inside out!
Read on and enjoy the story Sonja Jesus weaves with ease!!!
Knights After My Heart is a romantic suspense novel by Sonya Jesus, which is her debut novel, and it is a cliffhanger. The story is written in two different characters point of view: Lia’s and Hawk’s. Amelia or “Lia”, goes to a small college called Westbrook University, where the school’s teams are called the Knights, everything revolves around castles, and one of her required classes is called Medieval Times. Lia is very confused about her romantic life because she’s a virgin, and wants to save herself for someone who truly loves her. She’s been dating a Freshman named Connor, (Lia is a Junior), who none of her friends like, especially her best friend, Christopher Robinson or “Robins”. Lia is also confused because she is attracted to several other guys on campus, too.
The other person the book is about is a guy named Hawk, and he is obsessed with Lia. He spends most of his time at Westbrook University spying on Lia because he wants to make her his “Queen” after she graduates, and he will do anything to make that happen.
Sonya Jesus has written a lot a very strong characters in this book, and this was an amazing debut novel. I loved it, especially because I could very much relate to Lia’s character; I feel like I was a lot like her when I was her age. It was very easy to become emotionally involved in this story, not only because of Lia’s romantic predicament but because I never knew what Hawk was going to do next. I have to admit that when I got to the end of this book and read the ending, I was surprised, to say the least! You too, will really enjoy reading this book especially if you love a great romantic suspense! This is one of the best books that I’ve read in a while. I wish that I could give it another star!
Don’t Dare Love (Knights #1) is a new adult college romantic suspense. This first book in this series begins with a intriguing prologue. A nonpareil writing style that gives you something to escape to for a while. The writing is very descriptive and vivid. The characters are very complex and intriguing. A mind-boggling, twisted minded stalker who will deprive you of sleep as you need to know what he is up to next. Told in dual pov with the heroine and her stalker. I love how we get into the working mind of a serial killer. I love the tidbits of crumps we get along the way to solve this mystery. Lingering through the pages is oodles of mystery and dubious behavior. Heaps of riveting characters who you can’t quite figure out. A mystery puzzle of chess that plays out who will win in the end, the hero or the villain. Who knows, as three more books to devour to find out. The unfolding of this romantic suspense series is well balanced and arranged completely finished. Exploding to escape into book to right and continue on to the rest of this highly addictive mystification.
This is the 1st in a new series and this talented author has written an intriguing and captivating tale. Amelia is a college junior who starts dating Connor. Hawk is a dark, mysterious, and depraved, and does not want Lia dating anyone as he wants her for himself. This is a well written story which is filled with suspense, violence, and secrets which had me hooked throughout. The only downside in my opinion only, is that it took me a little while to engage with the characters. I look forward to reading #2.
Amelia’s relationships have never gone smoothly. Her longest male relationship is with her best friend, Robins. Suddenly she has the attention of someone with potential to be a real relationship and then every male close to her and in her periphery is at her side and giving her attention. If you thought high school relationships were complicated, wait to you get a load of Amelia’s college relationships, both with her friends and the college males. Dating a freshman as a junior seems to stir everyone’s interest and opinion. However, in the background there is another that may be controlling the drama in her life. Between Robins, Connor, Hawk, and the Soccer Gods, the poor girl doesn’t know which way to turn. I can’t wait to read the next installment of the series.
What a fantastic book! So many twists and turns and surprises, including a cliffhanger. Awesome love triangle with interesting characters.
COnner and Lia have quite the romance in this read. I really enjoyed their relationship and how it built. These two are so good together.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Talk about a love triangle. Usually I am not a fan. I like my characters to be focused on one person. But I really enjoyed this book. This story is told from the point of view of Amelia and Hawk. Both are college students. Amelia is confused on her love life. She has boyfriend Connor, best friend Robins and a stalker that she isn’t aware of, Hawk. While Amelia is dealing with figuring out who she wants to be with and what she wants to do Hawk is watching her closely by being in their circle of friends. She doesn’t know about his obsession and his is a dangerous one. He isn’t opposed to hurting anyone to get in his way of getting “his queen.” This book takes the reader on a whirlwind of emotions from all the characters even if it’s just from the point of view of two of them. I found myself being sucked in and I couldn’t put it down. I will admit at first it was hard to get into. I almost thought I entered on the second book. But once the first chapter finished I understood the writer’s style. Things are revealed as the story goes along and then it all makes sense. That is not a style I am used to but I turned out to really like it. Good news: There is more in this series. I am curious what other crazy things are going to happen in the next book.
A page turner that pulls you in from start to finish. The twists and turns will have you guessing what’s coming next. The suspense builds up and the mystery of what’s coming will have you on edge. I can’t wait to see where the story goes and how it turns out.
Amelia(Lia) is almost 21, good student, but her personal life is a bit of a merry go round. Best Friends with Robins (Christopher), and little does she know it, but her life is about to change. Amelia is an attractive girl and seems to love male attention, but she’s also apprehensive of letting anyone in and taking a relationship too far. She insists on the whole package and right now sex is not part of the package, i guess until they prove themselves. I found Amelia slightly irritating and at times I felt she was more like a 14 yr old experiencing crushes and male attention for the first time. She seems to flutter around from one males attention to the next, but she likes them all, has feelings !! In the background we have Hawk, a sinister, stalker, who unbeknown to Amelia knows more about her life than she does herself.
Yes this book had me through a little riot of emotions, at times I was irritated, whilst Amelia flounced between feelings for one guy or another and would this one be boyfriend material or the other? But underlying even with the irritation, i found this book to be pretty addictive reading. The author lets you into both Amelia’s world, and also at the same time we get the sinister stalker’s POV from his side, and the suspense keeps you turning the pages. I also liked that the author was able to keep me hooked whilst at the same time i wasn’t totally into the heroine, so i guess that’s a good thing Right? At times so much is going on that it can be a little confusing but overall by the time i got to the end of this first book, which is a cliffhanger, I literally couldn’t wait to dive into the next one — so that’s exactly what I did !!!!!
This is the first book I have read from this author and I can’t wait to finish the rest of this series!!! Let me say I was hooked from the start, her words just pulled me in. It was as if I was right there with Lia(Amelia) from the beginning, then she has to throw me for a loop by bringing Hawk in there! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!!! Then there’s Robins who you can’t help but love, okay so I’m not giving anymore away so get the book read in one night like I did and then you will see how not only amazing this the Soccer Gods are but the whole Westbrook Knights are!!
I’m not entirely certain how I feel about Amelia or her best friend, Robins. Sometimes I liked them, and sometimes I wanted to slap them both silly. They have a very complicated relationship that only gets further entangled by her new potential boyfriend, Connor. Hawk, on the other hand, is creepy from his first appearance, and everything you learn about him makes him that much worse.
Sonya manages to write in such a way that you’re suspicious of everyone and everything. You’re left feeling as confused and out-of-the-loop as Amelia herself. I can’t give it 5 stars, because I feel like it should get a second read-through by an editor. I came across several typos and a couple of errors. That said, I’ll be reading the second book once it’s available, because the storyline is intriguing enough that I want to know what happens next.
NOTE: I spoke with Sonya after writing the review, and she mentioned that she was working with her publisher to get the errors fixed. I don’t know if they have since been taken care of.
