A frosty television host, a bubbly bar owner, and a litter of abandoned kittens. The recipe for ratings gold…or heartbreak?Eve Marlow has her eyes on the prize: a third season of her popular business makeover show, Do Over. But when her ratings take an unexpected dive, Eve needs a blockbuster new client, or she can kiss season three goodbye. She has her work cut out for her, and that’s before she … before she discovers a litter of newborn kittens in a trash can. Now she’s desperate to find someone to take them so she can concentrate on reviving her career.
Josie Swanson had to put her kitten rescue on the back burner when she inherited her father’s bar two years ago. Since then, she’s invested all her time and energy into keeping it afloat, but despite her best efforts, Swanson’s is going under. When she gets a phone call from Eve Marlow, host of the television show Josie applied to earlier that year, the woman she’s convinced can save her bar, Josie hopes her luck has finally turned.
Eve knows what she needs to succeed, and it isn’t Josie—or her bar. There’s no denying the chemistry sizzling between them, though. Josie’s personality is as vibrant as her turquoise-tipped hair. She stirs things in Eve that haven’t been stirred in a long time, but there’s a reason she keeps her heart under lock and key. Eve stands to lose a lot more than her TV show if she lets her guard down, no matter how tempted she is to see if Josie’s love would be worth the risk.

Love when they least expect it! With the first book in her new lesbian romance series Midnight in Manhattan, Rachel Lacey takes us on a delectable journey of healing with DON’T CRY FOR ME. It was emotional and super satisfying!
Eve Marlow is the first to catch a reader’s eye as she discovers a batch of abandoned kittens that she needs to find help for. This puts her in touch with Josie who turns out to be so much more than she ever expected. She has an emotional back story and a wall around her heart … but Josie might be just the person to bring it tumbling down.
Josie Swanson put her kitten rescuing on hold to run her father’s bar after his death a couple of years ago and now she finds herself overworked and still barely holding her head above water. The coincidence of running into Eve who has a reality TV show about saving businesses just like hers can’t possibly be for nothing. She has to convince her to take her on … maybe as more than a client if she plays her cards right!
I highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a couple who overcomes a lot to make it to their happily ever after. Emotions are high, but there’s the adorable side of baby kitties to balance it out.
I don’t normally read f/f romance, but I do enjoy this author’s work, so I thought I’d give this one a try. I was pleasantly surprised by this book!
I really enjoyed the premise of the story, as it reminded me a lot of Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsey, which I enjoy watching on occasion. It made for an interesting setting for the romance!
I especially loved Josie! She was spunky and kind-hearted, true to herself, loyal and just all around awesome! Eve was very off putting to me, I found it very hard to connect with her as a character. I get that it was because of the pain of her past, but she wasn’t a very warm person at all, and that soured the relationship for me slightly. However, I could see the attraction to Josie as very realistic, even though I didn’t agree with a lot of Eve’s actions.
The book kept me engaged throughout. I found it to be an entertaining and enjoyable read and am looking forward to the next book in the series!
An entertaining read! Don’t Cry for me is the story of Eve and Josie. Eve works in the reality show business and is in danger of losing her job. Her main hope turns out to be Josie who is trying to find a way to help her failing bar that she inherited from her dad. Upon meeting, these two have an instant attraction but having a partnership based on their jobs causes conflict. It was fun to watch the two interact. Each was so different from the other and yet they worked because of what they each brought to the relationship….both personally and professionally. I loved how Eve tried to be all business and professional while Josie does her best to break down those barriers.
I enjoyed this book. I am not a normal reader of F/F books but I love that Lacey has written this. It was well done and fun to read.
I received an ARC of this book. The opinions here are my own.

Amazing story! Full of emotions! Fully enjoyed! Very captivating!
“You’ve lost so much… too much. I’m so fucking sorry.”“Don’t cry for me,” Eve whispered against her neck. Josie swiped at her cheeks. “Someone should.”
Very highly recommend. Can not wait for next book.
This book held me captivated and I FELT all the emotions in this book. That, my friends, is the sign of a good writer. While I don’t go looking for F/F reads, if it’s written by Rachel, then I’m in! Her characters are realistic, the emotions real and the chemistry HOT! I liked the uniqueness in the way Eve and Josie meet. And that meeting set forth a new path for both of them. These women are total opposites but they worked! I couldn’t read this book fast enough and I can’t recommend it enough!
Don’t Cry for Me is a fun take on the popular Bar Rescue series. While I don’t read much f/f, I enjoyed this book. Eva and Josie’s HEA is believable. Plus, there are kittens.
Really enjoyed this story. Through the writing you felt right there in the story. Rachel Lacey was able to capture all my emotions. Honestly this is not my typical read but it kept me engaged and routing for the characters and don’t forget the kittens. Definitely a story I think you will enjoy. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
Josie and Eve are awesome, their chemistry is off the charts. Storyline is great.
I usually don’t read FF romance, but I was so happy I did with this one.
This story make you laugh and cry.
