Two years ago, Paige Wilson watched helplessly as her brother Ryan was shot, right on her doorstep. He survived the attack, but never fully recovered from the trauma. Stuck in a wheelchair, Ryan refuses to accept the life of a paraplegic. His idea of fun is coming up with new ways to torment Paige, who has sacrificed her own happiness to care for him. He feels she’s responsible for what happened … responsible for what happened to him that night, and he’s determined to make her life a living hell.
Pushed to her limits, Paige wants to turn her back on her brother’s abuse, but when she finally takes steps toward getting her life back, tragedy strikes.
One day she’s walking toward her freedom, and the next, she’s on the run. A terrible crime has been committed and she might be in danger.
She finds safety and a new life in the small town of Faypine, Maine. But someone knows her hiding place, and they are determined to use her secrets to tear her world apart. They will stop at nothing to get rid of her.
This is a dark and disturbing page-turner that you won’t be able to put down.
This book was previously published under the titles The Girl in the Rain and The Girl in the Storm.

3.5 stars. What a riveting psychological thriller, this book kept me on the edge of my seat right up till the end. The ending was a little bit out there, but other than that this book kept me turning the pages through the end. I would recommend it to anybody who likes psychological thrillers.
I thought the premise of a sister so guilt ridden over her brother’s injury that she would let him torment her for years was a bit of a stretch. Main character was so pitiful you almost didn’t feel sorry for her. And the brother was a despicable control freak who wanted to make her life as miserable as his. It seemed far fetched, but unfortunately you see similar stories more and more often on the news. I thought the book got more interesting when the brother was no longer a prominent player in the story. It was a good book, a page turner because I wanted to see what twisted scheme the brother came up with next. Then I wanted to see how the main character put her life back together. I did not see the ending coming, and I
think that makes a book worthwhile. I would recommend it.
The plot was excellent; characters believable; story was incredible, but totally believable
Loved the book. Had no idea who the villain was until the very end.
I found the plot disturbing and could not finish this book.
You won’t figure this one out til the end.
This was some book. You never knew what was going to happen next. It’s hard to believe the author could keep throwing so many problems to one person. As I kept reading i kept thinking the end was coming but no another horrible thing happened to Caitlin usually you can kind of figure who and what was next but not this time the sample of her next book looks like it will be a good one to read. I guess I’ll have to buy more of her books. Good job
I couldn’t put it down and also read the other two books by this author
I could not get into this book after the 3rd chapter I gave up
Really enjoyed it
Worth reading and will read more from this super author. Enjoy!
Loved it. Kept me interested.
I couldn’t put it down
Chapters had you on the edge of your seat. Couldn’t wait to turn the page to see what happens next.
So many of the decisions Paige makes and how she interacts with her brother are too unbelievable. When ALL of her friends give her the same advice, she ignores it and becomes a martyr to her angry, destructive brother. Several times I was going to put this book down because Paige was acting so incredibly stupid, but I pushed on.
In the second half, the relationship with her husband is so perfect that for him to have such a deep, visceral negative reaction to a rumor without having a conversation about it, really finalized my disappointment with this book.
Honestly, I don’t know if it is worth your time.
Not realistic, dragged on with too much of same and predictable ending
Ridiculous plot—- don’t wAste your time!!
I remember I really liked it but it’s been a long time…a good read!
I would like to shake this girl The story had a lot of holes in the plot but I still enjoyed it very much!
I loved this book! I couldn’t put it down and read it in one night. I can’t wait to read other books by this Author.
