Matt and Summer were always drawn together, but he was her best friends brother. Loved this second chance romance with a lot of twists and turns. Story within a story.

This book is absolutely fantastic! The story of Summer and Matt is one that spans years and goes from like to hate and finally to love. Summer is best friends with Matt’s sister, Emilia. When Summer’s parents abandon her, Matt’s family takes her in. Since she is considered family, she is off limits. That is except for that one night. Then he leaves for the military without so much as a goodbye. Now Summer hates him and it’s twelve years later and they are together for Emilia’s wedding. The two try hard to stay away from each other but it just doesn’t work. To make matter worse, a business rival is threatening Matt’s company and he is alert for trouble at the wedding. Assured his rival is nowhere near the wedding, Matt relaxes a little. That is until Summer is kidnapped. It turns out, his rival was nowhere near but his rival’s daughter was right under their noses. Summer is returned and Matt tries to pull away again. Some harsh words spoken between Matt and Summer are overheard by Emilia and she sends Summer home before the wedding. Home and heartbroken, Summer does everything she can to get into the drama school she’s dreaming of, only to have her hopes dashed again when she finds out she’s pregnant. The first person she calls is Emilia and Emilia gets on Matt to return Summer’s call that he ignored. When he finally tries, she is unreachable and it leads him to her apartment where he tells her the truth about how he feels, that he loves her and has been an idiot and she tells him about the baby. The two are then able to move forward and find the happiness they never thought they could have in each other’s arms.

This is a book that flows well with characters that engage you there is enough drama to keep you engaged until you turn the last page
Matt, Emilia and Summer grew up together While Matt and Emilia are brother and sister Summer was Emilia’s best friend who lived with them. Summer always had a crush on Matt but had promised Emilia that she wouldn’t go there Now ten years later they are all in the Bahamas Emilia is getting married and Matt and Summer are the best man and maid of honour. When they are thrown back together will they be able to resist the attraction between or will they act on it this time and will Matt be able to keep Summer safe when her life is in danger. You will have to read to see
Great read that left me smiling – light and easy to follow
That was such a heartwarming, easy to read well paced story. Not too much drama, not too much angst but enough to keep me interested and entertained. Loved the dynamics between all the characters and the chemistry between main protagonists. I read it in one sitting within one evening. Great read that left me smiling.
I received the ARC from Bad Boy Update. This has a little bit of everything! The forbidden best friend’s older brother, a broken heart from high school, no man has ever measured up….Summer is dreading seeing Matt at Emmy’s wedding and seeing him for the first time in years while dancing naked in her hotel room is definitely not the way she wanted to see him! Matt left Summer, and his family, for the military and now runs a successful security company. He never got over Summer and seeing her brings it all back, especially the naked dancing! It’s the perfect start to the snarky, drama and danger filled romance. I loved it!
I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I read the last page.

Don’t Be My Valentine has it all. Suspense, mystery, love, weddings, etc. Matt and Summer had grown up together and now meet up again years later at Matt’s sisters wedding in the Bahamas. Old feelings come back and a lot more happens then just the family wedding. This book is action packed and well written. If you like some mystery plus a love story, then this is one for you. I enjoyed it a lot.
Quick Review:
Surprising! Hot chemistry! Fun read!
:
The description of the book gave away hints, but the story still surprised me! The book was almost split into two stories. I even checked the % to confirm I wasn’t at the end. I liked that there were resolutions given for all of the conflicts throughout the story, not just in the last chapter.
Characters were well developed, even when they were totally predictable! (The bridesmaids were hilariously stereotypical.) I loved to hate Matt. Throughout the book, I just wanted to shake some sense into him. The author did a good job of switching voices to tell both sides in a seamless volley between characters.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. I’m a fan of this author already, but this book is definitely one of my favorites!
*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review. All words, descriptions, opinions, and suggestions are my own.
**It is hard to write a review without spoilers!
***This is my 13th book by the author. I’ve read over 215 romance novels in the past 250 days, this book was read in one day.

In her teenage years, Summer lived with Matt and Emilia’s family. She and Emilia were best friends, and Summer had a huge crush on Matt. Emilia made her swear to stay away from Matt, which she obviously couldn’t do. But once they had been together, Matt left for the military and she didn’t see him again for 12 years!
Emilia is now getting married in the Bahamas and Matt and Summer are back together again, despite her decision to stay away from him this time. There are some other complications as well that could put Summer in danger. Will Matt come through for her this time? And when will she tell him about her little secret?
I liked Summer and Matt’s story. Romantic, suspenseful, steamy and just a bit forbidden, this couple has a lot happening on their road to a HEA. As much as I thought that this was a cute read, I freely admit that that I felt that the flow of the story bogged down a time or two. Plus, I wish the characters had shown some better judgement and made better choices along the way.
Matt’s family had taken Summer into their home when her parents decided they didn’t want her anymore. When Summer left when she was eighteen, her life was really hard. She had loved Matt forever, but wouldn’t admit it. In turn Matt loved Summer, but had tragically lost his mother and didn’t want to lose anyone else so he ignored his feelings for her. Good read!

Matt And Summer’s Touching Story Is About Two Damaged And Shuttered Souls Getting A Second Chance At Love.
Summer, thirty, has spent years working odd jobs while pursuing her dream of becoming an actress. She knows she might be too late in life to get a big break, but the feisty and sumptuous beauty has her hopes set on improved prospects if only she could afford to attend ASD Academy in LA. She barely scrapes by, though, and after a year of saving she is nowhere close to affording the tuition.
Abandoned by her parents at age twelve, Summer had been taken in by her best friend’s mother and treated as part of the Baker family. But following the mother’s tragic death the family struggled and Summer’s sense of belonging was again challenged. At eighteen she retained her best friend Emilia, but otherwise she entered the world without prospects or opportunities and with nothing and nobody to rely upon.
Matthew Baker, approximately thirty-two, is from old money. Although he had good prospects and opportunities afforded to him because of his family, he took what was given to him and transformed it into billions. He first left home to join the military, following his dream of getting far away and serving. Afterward he started up a tech security company. He had lost his mother tragically as a teen, and hoped to make the world a safer place. His FindMe app is his crown jewel, but the competition is fierce and his enemies are circling.
Emilia Baker and her fiance Scott agree to have a location wedding in the Bahamas, hosting friends and family for a week of fun. Summer, maid of honor, is nervous about seeing Emilia’s brother Matt for the first time in twelve years. He had left for the military without saying goodbye, right after she gave him her v- card. Although both felt guilty knowing Emilia would not approve, Summer was still heartbroken. Already insecure with her place in the world, Matt’s departure left her ruined for all other men and terrified of relationships. When Matt sees Summer again, he is shocked to discover their chemistry is as crazy as it was all those years ago. Though no woman had ever compared to Summer, he had hoped time would have tamed his passion for her. He didn’t like emotions, and Summer stirred him up every time she walked into the room.
Matt and Summer’s touching story is about two damaged and shuttered souls getting a second chance at love. There is a dash of danger that adds an element of suspense. Summer’s heartbreaking story serves to highlight her strength and her will to persevere even as she floats rudderless and without an anchor through life. Despite Matt’s privilege, he suffers deeply from the loss of his mother. To compensate, he applies himself mechanically to his work while carefully cutting emotion from his life. He doesn’t do relationships since there is too much risk.
Matt and Summer’s story is nicely written. The plot is somewhat complex; it could be tightened up a bit. For example, it is not plausible that Matt and Summer did not see one another for twelve years. Later in the story, there is discussion of the pair seeing one another at family holiday get togethers, supporting this point.
The characters are well-defined and feel real. Note that Matt and Summer spend too much time going in circles in their heads. It is dizzying at times. The story is written in first person and the POV alternates between Matt and Summer. I rate this book 3.5 stars

This book was decent. I don’t think it is one of her better books. I just felt the characters were really immature for being 30 years old. It is well-written. I would have liked a little more of when they were younger and maybe why the siblings dad behaved the way he did. I liked the idea of having a vacation fling that stays that way—only they obviously can’t do that! There is a little outside drama, which ends in kind of an amusing way. Matt and Summer are very hot together.
Summer was basically abandoned by her parents as a child. She went to live with her best friend Emilia and couldn’t help falling for Emmy’s brother Matt. The hook-up once and then he’s off enlisted and she’s left with a broken heart.
They’re thrust together again for Emmy’s destination wedding. Even when they try and stay away they’re drawn together and their tension is so strong that others can’t help but notice. They both realize that Emilia would have a problem with it so they try to keep it secret.
I’m sure you can guess how well that always works. The family/relationship drama isn’t all this story is about, there’s also a kidnapping and attempted blackmail. I would have liked to see a bit more context with Matt’s business issues.

A wonderful, wonderful book! The chemistry between Matt and Summer was off-the-charts hot and I just loved the scene when they meet again after ten years. So, so funny!! I always like how Ms. Wright manages to incorporate some danger and drama into each of her books but that never overshadows the primary love story she is telling. This is very, very good!!

Another smash hit from Aubrey Wright! The type of story I’ve come to love. Summer and Matt are the perfect storm. Romance, suspense, drama, pride, a Valentine’s Day wedding, and of course sex (happy sigh). Way to go Aubrey, another fave added to the list.
This was a very enjoyable read. I loved the characters and the intrigue. The characters were very well developed and the emotion definitely shone through. A very good storyline and it kept me turning the pages until the very good ending. You will enjoy. This is another excellent book from Aubrey Wright and I have no hesitation in recommending this book.
