Perhaps if he scrutinizes her past, he can prove she isn’t the sweet, proper woman she seems to be.

This was a wonderful story that flew by fast. There were some very tender moments when my heart just bled for Clarissa Plunkett. After graduating from an all girls-school in Pittsburgh, she travels to see her mother. She was sent away at the age of 4 and stayed at the school through holidays and summer. Her mother never visited and Clarissa was lonely. Clarissa and her mother had plans to open a dress shop. The only address that she had from a letter long ago where her mother last resided was far from that. Clarissa decides to leave and become a mail-order bride. Upon arrival, her fiance is nowhere to be find. She comes across Donnell Kavanagh.
The path to Donnell and Clarissa’s HEA is one that will take you on a ride. Donnell cannot stand a liar and a cheat. A few incidents occur and Donnell believes the worst of Clarissa. My heart just broke for her. Her life wasn’t an easy one but she was full of prayer and steadfastness in courage. I adored reading this story.
This is a wonderful romance with a solid religious base to it. There is, in my opinion, nothing that should offend anyone. If you love historical western romance with a Christian base to it, then you will definitely need to read this.
Enjoyed!
Really enjoyed this emotionally thrilling, heartwarming and fun adventure filled with engaging charters, witty banter, heartwarming moments and thrilling passion. A great read from beginning to end. Highly entertaining reading!
Donnell is about a young woman who leaves everything she knows to become a mail order bride in the state of Texas. When her future husband is nowhere to be found she then has to depend on the kindness of strangers. Although I had a hard time with the characters I had to remind myself that this story takes place at a time when people were different than we are today. I enjoyed the story and loved how Donnell comes to the rescue of Clarissa. Good addition to The Kavanagh Brothers series.
Clarissa Pluckett comes to town as a mail-order bride. Her intended groom doesn’t show up. Donnell Kavanaugh is in town and see hers. He said he would help find her groom. Donnell feels protective of Clarissa but he doesn’t want to. It is a wonderful story with lots of twist and turns to get to your happy ever after.

Loved this story!
Will Donnell be able to open his heart to love before the naive, young and rejected mail-order bride is sold into prostitution or marries another man? Will he save her from making terrible mistakes, even while he believes he can’t trust her? I loved this book about another of the Kavanagh brothers!

A story of trying to find trust and believing that happiness can be found. Marcella’s last hope was being a mail order bride. She’d found out how her mother had lied to her about what she did for a living. She was a soiled dove and after she had passed she had left instructions for her daughter to take over for her. She had no intentions of doing that and got out of town quickly. Unfortunately there was no groom to pick her up! She had put all her hopes in this union and it seemed she’d been lied to again.
Joe Kavanagh spotted Marcella with her trunk sitting outside the general store and found out her story and really had nowhere to go. He offered for her to stay at his ranch with his brothers and of course Dolly, their housekeeper. Not having much of a choice she accepted his offer. Unfortunately Joe is almost as untrusting as Marcella. His mother had lied to him his entire life and he had a hard time trusting anyone.
Truly loved this story and what a journey to get to their happy ever after! Love these Kavanagh Brothers and need to go back and catch up on all of them! Wonderful!
Book five of The Kavanagh Brothers series a well written story that held my interest until the end. This is Rancher Donnell Kavanagh and mail-order bride Clarissa Plunkett who was originally suppose to marry Joe Kingsley. Joe never showed up so eventually Clarissa ended up at Kavanagh ranch they end up looking for Joe. I enjoyed how this story came together, and the surprise they get at the end. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mail order bride arrive to her destination only no one is there to meet her. She stood up but what she doesn’t know is the man decided she was too plain for him. she’s a very strong woman who has to learn to depend on her self. Very good love story . I love it when love wins.
Enjoyed reading this story about mail order bride Clarissa who steps off the stage coach to find she has no groom waiting for her. Donnell is at the general store when he sees Clarissa sitting and waiting so he offers to help only to find out the groom changed his mind about her so he takes her home to the Kavanagh Ranch. He wants nothing to do with her when he finds out a few things about her mother that she never explained and he thinks she is telling lies but when someone else shows interest in her he changes his mind. Sweet story but at times I wanted to kick Donnell in the pants.
Such a good book. I’m really enjoying this series and reading about the Kavanagh brothers. I loved Donnell and Clarissa’s story and anxiously await the next book in the series.
Donnell Kavanagh is still struggling from his fathers indiscretion and lies. His Mother shut herself off when she found his Father had cheated and had a child with another woman. This was his past… His future is driven by his ability to learn to move forward in life without dwelling on the past. How can he get past this and learn to accept people for who they are instead of looking for the lies and cheating behind what they say and do.
Can Clarissa Plunkett be the answer to his questions? Upon leaving boarding school she discovers a horror. Her mother had lied to her her entire life. Instead of being a upstanding citizen she was a soiled dove. She had also died and left a contract that states Clarissa must finish out her debt. Without knowing this, Clarissa makes the decision to become a Mail Order Bride. This may prove to be her undoing. Or will it!
Enter Donnell into her life. As much as he doesn’t want to be married, have a woman in his life, or anything of the kind, he cannot get Clarissa out of his mind. The drama she brings with her will keep the tails turned on him. She is an innocent in all of it, but the swirling trouble follows her and Donnell has no way to avoid falling in love with her.. But will he admit this to himself let alone her?
I am loving this series and each book gets better. This Author weaves beautiful stories. Her characters are believable and well developed.
I received a and ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
Inspirational story!
Donnell and his ‘not a’ mail order bride have a horrifying time getting together, but it all works out -sort of? The happily ever after is worth the trip in another riveting story in this series. I’m going to keep reading.
There’s a Mail-Order-Bride on the ranch but she doesn’t belong to any of the brothers. Clarissa is innocent in life having been sheltered in boarding school and here she was in a town where no bridegroom was there to meet her. There’s mystery as to who the man was that she was to marry; there was Donnell on the sidewalk who noticed her; and, there were cruel words everywhere. I wasn’t a fan of Donnell’s mean personality which took up most of the book and I did feel the story lacked the usual Kavanagh brothers family dynamics but there was as HEA.
This book was not my favorite – a spiteful Hero and a scared heroine make a tough one to write – I usually love to read her books!
