Ach, we’re back to the Highland’s this time we’re investigating a different tribe. We knew from previous books that Galan was definitely leaning to the dark side. We meet the guys of the Mag Raith and learn a little of their story. More unfolds as Jenna tale interweaves with the clans.
A good start to this side series. I liked the clan and the backstory so far. I really liked the sluath because it is a new and different kind of enemy.
Easy five stars. Jenna wakes up and doesn’t remember anything. Domnall finds her. Both feel a connection but neither remember how they arrived there. Domnall is an Immortal Highlander and Jenna is a modern woman.
Hazel Hunter writes amazing time travels and fabulous Highlanders. This is the first book of a new series and I’m anxiously awaiting the rest of the books. I particularly appreciated Jenna. She’s smart, savvy and reasons things out rather than jumping to conclusions. She recognizes that she doesn’t remember her past but instead of boohoo-ing about it, she gets on with the business of surviving. Course it probably helps that she knows Domnall is “the one”, and he’s hot. Adventure, mystery and evil villains. A great story. Warning: you won’t be able to put it down, so start early enough or you’ll be up all night like I was. Highly recommended. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
The only thing she remembers are her name and her profession as an architect. Jenna Cameron knows not how she came to awake naked in a strange land. Domnall also knows what it’s like to wake without all his memories intact. He and his Mag Raith “brothers” awoke under similar circumstances. He feels a connection to the unique woman who has the same inkwork on her back, that graces his arm. This first book in HH’s new series is steeped in mystery, deception, and romance. From the start Domnall and Jenna share a kinship and chemistry that is sweet and intense. I look forward to the next book in this series.
Hazel Hunter outdid herself with this book. Her newest Immortal Highlander series kicks off with Domnall & Jenna. The characters are so well written. You can actually feel the heat simmering between Domnall & Jenna. The villains are so real, they take your breath away. The book opens with our familiar Hazel Hunter Immortal Highlander trope of Domnall from the past and Jenna from the future. However, it immediately takes flight into a fabulous stand-alone read. It kept me reading deep into the night.
Domnall, Clan Mag Raith Book 1 is perfect for you if you love time-travel, highlanders, romance, and adventure. Let’s be honest, if you love a great story, this is a book you need to read today.
Everything about this book from the magnificent settings to the characters just oozes excitement and mystique. The author has an incredible knack for being able to create books or a series of books with similar or the same trope and yet make each story and each set of characters unique, interesting and entertaining in its/their own right.
Domnall is no exception to this talent and I was hooked from word one. Jenna and Domnall meet under less than ideal circumstances but the attraction between them is undeniable but Jenna is being stalked by an unknown enemy (or enemies maybe) and she is forced to trust Domnall and his band of men as they have more experience in this world that she has suddenly found herself thrust into. The story flows well and is put together well.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Hazel Hunter has written another fantastic Scottish time travel romance. This one is related to her other series’ and yet completely unique with mystery, secrets, and romance aplenty. I absolutely love her hunky heroes and spirited heroines. This is a great start to a new series.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book. This is my honest, voluntary review.
What a story. I will admit I was lost the first several chapters, but later, it dawned on me that I was kinda, kinda experiencing the same no-knowledge of the past as the characters, Jenna and Domnall. The demons added a new dimension to the time travel aspect. I could not put this book down. Action, adventure, and love that spans centuries. Simply great.
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Great start to a new series, I can’t wait for the next book. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
I received this story, this is my voluntary review.
Domnall is a well-written read with vivid imagery. It is action-packed with drama, intrigue, and romance that kept me engrossed. I adored the attraction between Jenna and Domnall, their chemistry and banter put a smile on my face. I also enjoyed the interactions between the Pritani, their bond and dynamic with one another kept me entertained. Great start to the series, and looking forward to the next book- Mael.
I have long been a fan of and enjoyed Hazel Hunter’s books. Domnall has been added to my favorites list. I love the details that have been written in this book to make it unique from her other Highlander books. Neither Jenna nor Domnall remember what happened or where they came from, at first, but there is an irresistible urge to be together that is there from the minute they meet. They both fight this urge as they struggle to find the truth as to why they were brought to this point in time, but with the help of the clan, they are able to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way. Hunter does a wonderful job of creating the world of Medieval Scotland, and along with strong characters and a great plot, this book is a definite read.
This has a different feeling to the other immortal highander series, this is definitely a different clan so the risk of déjà vu while reading is nicely side stepped. Jenna is a great character independant and unwilling to change her behaviour just to fit into a different era. This book is great fun to read, and I love the vilain in this one – I did wonder if we’d come across Galan again. The Sluath are great additions too. And the whole clan of highlanders are all so intriguing and appealing in their own way.
Not my type of book. Would have given it more stars except I don’t like endings that just drop you as a set up for the next book.
Very interesting. Intriguing. I like to discover what Hazel has next in her stories. Love the big, lovable heroes and smart, brave heroines.
I couldn’t force myself to finish reading it. Poor character development and a vague storyline.
If it wasn’t for the Scottish accents, I would have thought these guys were cavemen, especially by the way Domnall tried to dominate. Although I thought it was a fun read, it didn’t really hold my attention because much of it was cliche and wasn’t terribly original. It really didn’t make me want to read anymore of the series.
I like time travel. This book was pretty tame.
I didn’t really like the story line much. Not into underworld evil enemies. If you like then go for this book
Wayyy out there, too hard to follow, not sure how I stuck it out until the end, but not going to read the rest of the series
