Book #1 in the Slater Brothers series.
After a car accident killed her parents when she was a child, Bronagh Murphy chose to box herself off from people in an effort to keep herself from future hurt. If she doesn’t befriend people, talk to them or acknowledge them in any way they leave her alone just like she wants.
When Dominic Slater enters her life, ignoring him is all she has to do to get … ignoring him is all she has to do to get his attention. Dominic is used to attention, and when he and his brothers move to Dublin, Ireland for family business, he gets nothing but attention. Attention from everyone except the beautiful brunette with a sharp tongue.
Dominic wants Bronagh and the only way he can get to her, is by dragging her from the boxed off corner she has herself trapped in the only way he knows how…by force.
Dominic wants her, and what Dominic wants, Dominic gets.

This book was quite a ride from beginning to end. Bronagh is an Irish girl who lost her parents at a young age and lives with her older sister. She decided when she lost her parents that she wouldn’t form any other relationships because it hurt too much to lose them. So she keeps completely to herself in school and in her life aside from her sister.
When Americans Dominic and Damien start at her school, Dominic is immediately intrigued by the girl who wants nothing to do with him. He won’t leave her alone and though she likes to keep to herself, when she is antagonized, she gives as good as she gets.
What starts out as a hate-hate relationship between Bronagh and Dominic changes a bit when one of the other boys starts pushing her around and Dominic stands up for her and fights him saying that the guy touched what was his. From there it turns into a love-hate relationship between the two main characters.
They go back and forth trying to figure out their feelings, while she is still dealing with her issues. It is a definite roller coaster ride but I loved it. Dominic had feelings for her from the start and he gets possessive and jealous and keeps messing things up, but he has a good heart. I plan to read the whole series.
You will not be able to help but fall in love with this series and its characters! The Slater Brothers are awesome and their women wonderful!
ahh this book …. I will try to keep my review as spoiler free as possible.
First of all the editing. It feels like the editor gave up on this book half way through it! First part of the book is well edited, free of spelling and grammatical mistakes. But the 2nd half …. on every second page there was an editing mistake and it got quite annoying. They should have proof read it after the editor was done with the book …
The characters:
We have our typical moody, cold, arrogant bad boy who thinks a lot of himself. He is matched with a shy, quiet girl. We have this is almost every single bully book and I like it so I was on board with that pairing. Till that heroine opened her mouth. Wow. just WOW. She is worse than a drunken sailor. She couldn’t say a sentence without a course word and an insult. It was so crying and bad I wanted to slap some sense into her. This almost made me give up on the book.
And let’s talk about the fat shaming. I mean …. I understand what the author was trying to do but instead of empowering a curvier woman she managed to fat shame her …. I did not like that at all.
The bullying part;
First of all it was not bullying it was pure abuse! I am all about a good bully romance but this was not like that. Both characters were abusing each other emotionally and physically!! And nobody said anything. Not the teachers, not the guardians … they looked the other way ….
The story would have been good if the writing and the characters were better.
I gave this book 2 stars because I did like the last 10 pages. BUT I won’t read more of this series.
First book to be read by the author L.A.Casey. Once you start reading this, you’re going to devour it, because it’s just that good!! From the hate/love, the jealousy, brutal honesty, to the laughs that are going to take place from Bronagh and Dominic, you’re going to fall in love with them. And it only gets better as you not only read about them, but the other slater brother’s as well.
Absolutely love Dominic and Bronagh!!!! These two start off hating one another, well Bronagh more than Dominic but eventually Dominic warms up to Bronagh and she gives in to her feelings. And then there’s the p banter back and forth between these two. I was laughing so hard!! It definitely made it difficult to put this down until it was done. Would recommend reading

Dominic is the first book of the Slater Brothers series by L.A. Casey. It’s set in Ireland and written in an Irish dialect. Through Dominic, Casey did a brilliant job in setting the stage for the entire series.
There are five Slater Brothers: Ryder, Alec, Kane, and the twins, Dominic and Damien. They were raised in New York in a compound of gangsters. They’ve experienced a violent, yet affluent life. Their parents died when the twins were 14. The three eldest brothers chipped in to raise the younger two. They are all close, insanely loyal, and incredibly gorgeous with arrogant alpha male personalities.
The storyline begins when they moved to Ireland, the twins were 18, and it’s their first day of school. Dominic sees Bronagh Murphy and immediately wants her. His looks and charm have always gotten him everything he wanted and he expects nothing different now. Bronagh is a recluse and wants nothing to do with anyone. She lost her parents at age nine and has been raised by her sister, Branna, ten years her senior. She’s unknowingly beautiful and incredibly snarky. Dominic has met his match.
I loved the characters. They were well developed with an abundance of humor through their non-stop bantering. Initially the hostility was appropriate, but it carried to deep into the book making it too slow for me through the middle of the story. Once they began a normal bantering versus the hostility, I was hooked again.
The storyline was filled with mystery and suspense with unexpected twists throughout; bringing depth, substance and plausibility to the tale.
Casey introduced each supporting character well providing a solid foundation as well as a teaser for what’s to come in the rest of the series. Next up, Alec, the pretty boy.
5* massive read. In fact this book deserves way more then 5 stars. I picked this book up not expecting to be completly entrapped the way I was. Theres only a couple of books that I can say I completly love every single page and this is one of them. The words, the banter, the absolute brilliant writing of an amazing author I just love love loved this bloody book. I want to read it again straight away just to get all them feels again. Dominic and his brothers are all completly swoon worthy, I literally want every single one of them (maybe at the same time). Bronagh was equally as strong of a character and I fell in love with her and her sister just as much as the Slater brothers. Watching her and Dominic develop and laughing along with their silly antics and banter just made this the perfect read for me. I can’t wait for the next one, I literally can not wait to get another Slater brothers story
Do yourself a favor and just buy the whole series now. You’re gonna LOVE this family and beg for more.
3.5 Stars! Dominic is the debut novel of Irish author L.A. Casey, and book one in the Slater Brothers series. With this read you get humor, love, a possessive alpha, passion, hate, a bit of danger, and can you say D-R-A-M-A, DRAMA! Lol.
Summary:
Bronagh Murphy is happy to be a loner. She has spent years building a barrier between herself and those around her, all except her older sister, Branna. It’s easier that way. If she closes herself off, not attempting to make friends or getting close, she doesn’t have to suffer the loss of them later on. This is what losing your parents to a tragic car accident at a young age will do. To achieve this, Bronagh makes it her mission to avoid talking to people, even going so far as to not acknowledging their existence, so that they’ll leave her be. Unfortunately for Bronagh, her world is about turn upside down, and she’ll experience her very controlled interactions become chaotic. Dominic Slater and his brothers are new to Ireland and Bronagh’s high school, but she can tell just from the first interaction that he thinks he’s God’s gift and the girls in school don’t even begin to disabuse him of this notion. Dominic likes attention, and he’s used to getting it wherever he goes, but Bronagh isn’t just any girl. She’s spunky, sarcastic and intent on keeping herself to herself. Expecting to stay as invisible has she always has been, Bronagh soon finds her life more complicated than ever. Dominic finds that not getting the pretty brunette’s attention makes him want it all the more, and he sets out to get as close to Bronagh as he can. After so many years of just existing, Bronagh isn’t comfortable jumping into living feet first, but Dominic is determined to get her out of the box she’s closed herself up in, even if it’s by force. As Bronagh’s eyes are opened up to a few truths about herself and her life, her social circle grows rapidly, including her love/hate relationship with Dominic. Dominic gets what he wants, but can he show Bronagh that nothing is more important than living life to its fullest, and when “family business” threatens to endanger Bronagh and those she’s come to care so much about, will she and Dominic have a strong enough bond to hold them together until the storm passes?
I’ve read some of the reviews and feel that the majority were mixed, but I actually really liked this debut, despite my belief it held so much more potential. Bronagh was such a sassy heroine with an independence I really liked, even while submitting in all the best ways to her alpha. Dominic was sexy as all get out, loyal, funny, and protective. I thought his flub-ups from the difference in terminology was hilarious. I adored them together, too. They seemed to have just what the other needed. My only criticism of their relationship was the degree and amount of physical interactions between them. The only word I can think to say about it is: volatile. Saying that, it added to the drama, which amazingly, I loved. Lol. Getting to know the other brothers, their dynamics, and those important to them was also great. I took the author’s warning about the cursing and I didn’t mind it, except for the c-word (and that is just personal preference). I loved the addition of some of the common Irish words. Although this story took place in high school, I found nothing about the content to be YA, but it all worked. I really liked the writing, and for it being a debut, the author did a fantastic job penning such great characters. It had a wonderful storyline, but I think it could have been executed differently. I don’t really know how to explain how I feel about it, but at times, I kind of lost the thread of what the author was trying to say, I guess. All of this being said, I truly enjoyed the read. It was easy, a romance fueled by deeper and sometimes darker emotions, but with a humor that had me laughing out loud at times. I will continue to read on in the series because I absolutely fell in love with the Slaters. I also can’t wait to see how much L.A. Casey will grow and become more settled in her writing, as I see the potential for great things.<3
I love Bronagh! The Slater’s are hot!
Bronagh Murphy isn’t shy. She says what’s on her mind. Always. Ever since her parents deaths, she closed herself off to the world. No friends and no relationships meant no risk of being heartbroken again. And it worked until Dominic Slater moved to Dublin, with his four brothers, and joined her school. Dominic is used to getting attention. Especially of the female kind. When Bronagh all but kicks him to the curb, he was spellbound by the beautiful brunette and just like a little boy who doesn’t know any better, he starts to taunt her in order to get her attention. Any attention is better than no attention, right? Bronagh and Dominic’s story is funny, emotional, sexy, filled with adrenaline and lots of testosterone. There are plenty of bad guys and mean girls; a family of great, loyal, problematic, loving guys and the best sisters; friends worth sticking by, and a love story worth every fight, curse, thrown cup, shoe, fist and kiss. I loved reading the Irish accents of Bronagh and Branna, “eejit” and “shite” were my favorites. As much as I’m not Irish, my love for all Irish things (and family) earned Dominic and the Slater boys an instant soft spot with me. I look forward to Dame, Kane, Alec and Ryder’s stories.
Must read every single character is the sh!t and you will want to read about them all!!!
