My heart wasn’t sensible or guarded enough. Not by a sight. I was a walking raw nerve ending of emotion, as if the years I’d spent away from men and sex had made me more emotional, more vulnerable, more foolish.I ran my fingers through his hair, feeling like the victim of a crime of consent.——Previously released as Control Burn Resist
Control-Part 4 of 9: More drama with the ex-wife. Jonathan just confuses me. I can’t tell if he finally acknowledges his love of Monica and wants more or if he just wants to keep her but at arms length. Monica is still being stupid about her ex, Kevin. That guy is a sleaze ball and she’s crazy for not cutting ties. I’m still loving every bit of of these two.
Burn-Part 5 of 9: The ex-wife finally made her play and it’s a big one. The ex-boyfriend is even more of a sleaze. Monica is still clueless about him. And how can the other ex-boyfriend/best friend think Kevin is better than Jonathan. Was he never around during their relationship? I like Jonathan more and more with each book.
Resist-Part 6 of 9: This dealt with the aftermath of the ex-wife’s power play. We get the dance of Monica wanting to help Jonathan out of what Jessica got him into, and Jonathan trying to keep Monica away from Jessica. I find it funny that his distraction technique is sex. Like that will make her forget everything. Thankfully we have no Kevin, the sleaze, in this episode. Once again it ends on a big cliffhanger.
I got completely sucked in by this story. I can’t seem to get enough of Monica & Jonathan. So many twists & turns. And the hotness, whew! Sooooo steamy. So glad there is a third book! Love the addition of Christian Fox as a narrator for the 2nd book.
This is Book 2 of The Drazen Books of The Submission Series
1. Control
This is the continuing story of Jonathan & Monica. Domination is to be in control, and Jonathan had to be in control, for reasons the reader has yet to find out. Little bits are revealed about his life, bit by bit. Monica makess a grave error doing something she really shouldn’t have. The two of them are really perfect for each other. He’s been taking a lot of heat about his lifestyle because of his ex-wife. Will he recover from all of what’s happened? Will he survive emotionally? Will they mend themselves together? End of Book 1.
2. Burn
It’s the burn of not being together that’s got Monica in a funk. Jonathan isn’t much better. She has to go to him being she left him. They crave each other so much, but she doesn’t want to give in because the public knows about what his sexual needs are. She doesn’t want to be known for being his submissive, the way people would look at her. They still burn for each other. Will they get together? Will she give in? Will she just accept it? In the meantime, her and her ex and her best friend, Darren, are working on an art exhibit together. Darren leaves them alone, and wow, things get a little out of control. It’s definitely not a love triangle. Monica only craves one person. There are things that happen moving forward, with a cliffhanger at the end. This was a great second part of this book. Moving on to the third part.
3. Resist
Omg, what a great third part to this book. Jonathan does things to prevent Monica from seeing Jessica, his ex-wife, and to her ex-boyfriend, from preventing him to get to the exhibit she worked on with him and her best friend, Darren. He opens up, to an extent about his life, but not nearly all of it. They both are into BDSM, but the world around them is not so kind about it. This time he leaves her. He doesn’t want to destroy her. Therefore, he tried to resist her. Oh, more things happen in Jonathan’s life. She accepts him as he is. Oh boy, another cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read the next book.
The unpredictable challenges of each character made it impossible for me to stop turning each page throughout the trilogy! It’s a must read but be ready to scream, cry, laugh uncontrollably and want more!
The story of Monica and Jonathan continues on Domination.. in this book we see more about Jonathan’s past and drama.. his ex wife constantly wanting to ruin him and get his money.. his crazy family and secrets..
Monica still fighting to get a place on the music industry.. she wants to be herself not to be attached to any men last name and power. .. She wants to show that she is strong and doesn’t need any money or a man to hold her back.. even thou she keeps failing to achieve that when it comes to Jonathan..
There’s a lot of twists and turns in Domination.. people keeps trying to break them apart. lies, secrets and a past that keeps trying to come between them..
The love between Jonathan and Monica is so surreal and very strong.. in Domination their relationship evolves even more, it get deeper and closer.. their feelings are more palpable, their love overflows the pages of the book.. is like you get to feel how strong their feelings are for eache other, is just breathtaking to read about these two..
Jonathan and Monica are a very strong couple, I really love the relationship they have and how good they’re together.. be ready to cry, laugh and want to throw some punches a few times..
Domination, a great continuation of the series.
I can’t wait to finally read the end of this amazing story!
“Her very presence on the earth stirred me.” – Jonathan
“Six feet two inches of life-damaging trouble in a sweet, tempting [motherfudging] devil of a package.” – Monica
I was struck silent for the depth and beauty I found in these three books in the “Song of Submission” series. You may ask yourself how could any erotic romance centering itself around the discovery, delights, trials, personal recriminations, societal judgement and reactions from friends and family of a bdsm relationship have depth of thought, artistic vision and literary merit? Well that’s just exactly what is found in these beautiful writings of CD Reiss.
What’s more you can enjoy these books purely because they are well written, exciting, jaw droppingly, panty meltingly HAWT!!! The romantic tension and suspense will keep any lover of erotic romance warm with engines purring, even if, bdsm is far from your normal. You cannot help but appreciate its art responsibly practiced by Jonathan and Monica…the “play”, exchange of power, is some “heady” uber sexy reading.
Beyond the “feels” you experience, is the exquisite enfolding of themes, references to art and literature and the artistry of the language used by the author.
Music is heard in the words, phrasing and pacing. References and allusions are made to musical works and instruments throughout the prose. The works themselves are like “tone poems” or a 21st century version of variations on a musical theme.
In “Control”, Jonathan shows himself to be a master of control. He is Monica’s ” King” in control of everything and most importantly, in control of himself. He uses this iron- willed control to get what he wants.
Monica is feeling more and more out of control. She sees that her newly-found kink is bleeding into her career. She feels a taint and judgement from many corners of her life. She is afraid of losing control of her driving desire for a successful music career as she indulges in her high-wire act of a sex life.
She is impossibly attracted to Jonathan…no it’s more than that, she is in love with him body, emotions, mind and soul. She just can not reconcile her new “kinkier” identity, the need to deny it publicly and the one driving force sacred to her throughout her life so far, music.
“Burn” reads like a dance that leaves you breathless.
“This, I want. I’ve never wanted anything so badly. I feel your hands on your phone when you read my texts. I go to the Stock after your shifts just to stand where you’ve stood. I fall asleep on the pillow you used when you were in my bed. I need to share whatever piece of the world you’re in. Tell me you don’t feel the same.” – Jonathan
God bless you if ever you heard those moving words of love, heat and attraction from your man or lover. Truly swoon-worthy. Throughout most of this book, the words placed in the mouth of Jonathan read like a song of want, need and, yes love. She is the “sea” to his “sky”. Throughout these books, the descriptions of the sky are original with qualities of strange beauty.
“I watched the sky go from navy to royal, to cyan, to baby boy blue.” – Monica
In this passage, Monica describes the sleepless night she spent because of the “burn” of her want of Jonathan. The writing is often cinematic like it is in this passage. Actually they both “burn” for each other. I promise that you as the reader will be burning up as well, for many reasons after reading this “stanza” in the “Songs of Submission” work.
“Resist” is a suspense-filled book that describes the manipulative machinations of Jonathan’s ex-wife to at best, bribe and at her worst, ruin Jonathan’s life and world. The story becomes ever more complex with revelations from and about Jonathan. While Monica and Jonathan are resisting outside forces set in motion to destroy their relationship, they also offer resistance to each other, bristling at each other’s display of willfulness.
Just when they find their hot and sexy stride again, Ms. Reiss leaves you with your heart in your throat at the end.
Fortunately, I found this series when the books were all released and packaged for sale in three sequences. I don’t think I could have stayed sane waiting for the next book. I have been entertained and inspired hours on end. I fell in love with the characters’ “love affair”…these characters will be part of my literary memory for a lifetime. The value of this enrichment of my life is beyond price. Fortunately for us, as readers, the cost is most reasonable… again, the value immeasurable.
