He’s promised me sunlight. Hope for a better future. Freedom from this horror. A life that doesn’t end in a dark cellar. But, we’re trapped together. Forced to live for the worst kind of people. Desperate to survive for each other. I crave his touch with every breath I take. My heart aches for him. He’s my hope for survival. The man I want a future with. I can have it all again, if only I trust … future with.
I can have it all again, if only I trust him.
Even if that’s the only thing I can’t do.
Note from the publisher: Dolly is a psychological thriller with a dark love story. It is completely stand alone and does not have a cliffhanger. Enjoy!

DOLLY starts off in an eerily captivating way in the sense that I had that an ominous, “don’t look over your shoulder” feeling. And it didn’t go away!
This is a brutal story of what happens when a couple of guys decide they want to make easy money at the expense of others. It’s a tale of caution in the sense where being the hero that you’re programmed to be isn’t always in your best interest. There were a couple of parts where my mouth dropped open because Measha got me so good with what happened.
Very rarely do I consider a book a page-turner, but if you love dark (and I mean actual dark) reads, can handle some mayhem and murder, you absolutely need to read DOLLY. And if you can’t handle those things, come for the vindication of knowing that through the darkness, the light will eventually shine.
Measha Stone said in an interview, this book is horrifically beautiful and I have to say I agree. It’s darker than anything I’ve read from her up to this date and yet there is a sense of karma and justice that left me sighing in relief. I’m not going to give a synopsis of the storyline, there is and will continue to be, enough of them in the reviews. It is my opinion you as a potential reader will want to read every delicious word and experience every emotion for yourself without having a biased thought. Just rest assured, if you enjoy a dark genre before you get your happily ever after, I don’t believe you’ll find one that gives you a better result. This one did it for me!
This is a dark psych thriller that messes with your mind. there are twists and turns you wont see coming. there are definatly some bad stuff that could be triggers for some. You will fall in love with Kendoll and Dolly and be looking for more. I know i am. Measha Stone really outdid herself with this one.
Oh my word, Measha Stone does Dark incredibly well.
Dolly throws you into the dark end deep end right from the start. It’s fairly harrowing at times, particularly because we experience the suffering, rather than just impassively observing. What I really enjoyed was how the story moved forward and how we got to really know Dolly and Ken.
It’s really difficult to discuss the book without revealing spoilers, so I’m just going to say that the plot totally and utterly held my attention throughout. I’ve read vaguely similar plotlines previously, but this was not a weak or carbon copy of them. Instead it far surpassed those previous reads, due in no small part to the quality of writing and the amazing characterisation of its protagonists.
The symbiotic relationship between Dolly and Ken, the self-reflection, self-understanding demonstrated by the both of them, the incredibly believable love and connection they shared just took this book to another level. With all the difficulties and stress of the current world situation, a dark book felt like the last thing I wanted to read. However the darkness here was filled with such strength, it transformed to such power that, instead of dragging me down, instead it lifted me up in a way I hadn’t expected.
I massively recommend Dolly and am hoping Ms Stone dips her toes into dark waters again.
Rise up
Sometimes when you live in the light you know there are shadows as well but then we find out monsters do exist in the dark and sometimes in plain sight.
Dolly and Ken’s story is a testament to what the human spirit can survive in the face of evil and degradation. Gut wrenching, heartbreaking, spellbinding, gripping, and inspiring in it’s own way.
Gut-wrenching horror that will take root in your soul. This book is not for the faint of heart, but this is the book for you if you can handle your romance wrapped up in a bloody red bow. I felt like I was thrown into a dark well but couldn’t stop reading for fear that the darkness within would overwhelm any glimmer of hope that there is some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. The author turned my definition of justice and healing upside down, shattered my heart and put it back together but the scars still remain. Fabulous read!
This book is . . . INTENSE! Holy-MF!!!! Wow! I mean WOW! This was a book that had me cursing at the author, closing my book just to shake my head, and repeating this over and over. I won’t lie, it to me a bit longer to finish than I normally take, all because I had to keep stepping away to breath. I say all of this, and believe it, ot is with love! Measha Stone blew me away with this story. I am in awe of her talent. The writing in this story is AMAZING! Ken and Dolly are AMAZING! All the details, the plot, even the other characters – WOW! How did you do this Measha Stone??? WOW!
Whoa what an intense dark and I mean welcome to the darkness so prepare yourself for some huge twist and turns you won’t even see coming that will blow your mind with brutal and cruelty scenes you’ll want to kill someone.
I could not put this down the plot, descriptions are so real. Dolly and Ken their connection was amazing as they find themselves and the strengh to face it together. I loved it
Oh my sweet and unholy frak. This book did me in. It’s dark, twisted, wrong, and just so perfectly right. Measha Stone took me on a journey and put me through some things that left me just sitting and staring at the world when I was done reading this book.
I honestly didn’t know what to expect when I started reading, and I have to tell you, I got flipped around by it on a regular basis. And just wow.
I couldn’t put it down, and I kinda wanted to reread it the next day.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.
He’s promised me sunlight. Hope for a better future. Freedom from this horror life that doesn’t end in a dark cellar. But, we’re trapped together. Forced to live for the worst kind of people. Desperate to survive for each other.I crave hi his touch with every breath I take. My heart aches for him. He’s my hope for survival. The man I want a future wit. I can have it all again if I trust him. Even if that’s the only think I can’t do.
This is a dark psychological romance. I am warning you know that if you have triggers of any kind then you might just want to skip this one. I read a lot dark romance and I can say that hti son is definitely dark. Gosh I am not even sure how to review this book and not give anything away. I don’t want to do that. I went into it blind and you should too. you’re going to love the story. It took my down a path I had never been down before. Was different than most of the dark book I read and I highly recommend to any dark loving book lovers out there. You don’t want to miss it.
Wow! I am an avid reader of dark romance while it isn’t this author’s usual work this was a great read. Shock, awe, seriousness, death, love, chills, destruction, wth…did I just read that full of dark awesomeness! While I did put it down to gain some semblance I finished it in a day because it is that good. HEA is granted if you fear darker reads. Take the chance, read it you won’t be disappointed!
Wow! Just wow! Where do I even start with how utterly mind blowing this story is! No words can truly describe how much I loved this book. It takes you on such a dark, twisty ride that you never want to get off of. Dolly and Ken are two people who have gone thru some things no one ever should have to. While this book is dark and definitely twisted, I love how these characters persevere throughout. Each chapter brings to light so many new things that you can’t wait to read the next chapter to find out what happens! I became so invested in these characters, I could feel their anger, their sadness, their lust and maybe even possibly love? If you have read other books by this author, you will know this is completely different from what she normally writes. Let me just say she has proven she can write anything! She knocked this one right out of the ballpark! All I can say is, you need to read this book, it is absolutely incredible!
Intense. Gut wrenching. This story makes your insides curdle. The idea that there are people sick enough to find enjoyment in other people’s misery and pain is insane. I love how Dolly took back her power. Her evolution from Dolly to Abigail was an intense journey.
I read and reviewed a copy of this book.
Well holy hell – this one is deep, and oh so dark. The level of depravity and brutality are shocking but as the characters start to develop you understand their weird twisted perceptions and reactions to the world.
If you want sunshine and rainbows this is not the book for you.
If you want brutal and righteous retribution for untold horrors this is the place for you.
Dolly and Ken are strong amazing characters.
Would make an amazingly intense movie!!!
Trigger warning!!!!
LOVED IT!!
HELL! Dolly is in Hell. She must do exactly as she is told. She must accept every perverse act that is forced upon her. She must obey immediately or risk further punishment. She must live in a barren concrete cell with minimum food and water. Then, Kendoll is captured. They are both used and abused, but Kendoll never gives up. They WILL escape. More fear, terror — and then escape.
This story is DARK, intense and mind-ensnaring! What do you do when you have lived through perverted abuse and escaped unbelievable terror? Do you run? Do you hide? Do you search? Do you find?
Without a doubt, the life of these two people took me into the middle of a tornado of thoughts, feelings and emotions. At times I cringed; at other times that should have elicited cringing, I felt freedom and relief. After reading this book and absorbing the horrors involved, I feel compelled to stop and further despise child abduction and abuse. My entire being has been tossed and wrung through a deluge of unspeakable horrors. I recommend this book, If you can stand deep, deep darkness.
This story was so intense and kept me wanting to find out more and more.
The beginning of this story almost felt surreal, I could not imagine who Dolly was and what she was going through. As the story progressed, and Ken came into the picture, I felt my first impressions of this story shatter! I did not see this coming at the beginning, and then as the story wound and dipped and curved I was thrown off guard again, repeatedly.
Dolly was well written, the characters were lovable or despicable, and the plot was unlike anything I have read before. But this story is dark, with unspeakable things happening, so beware.
There’s DARK.
There’s VERY DARK.
And there’s WHOA DARK.
This one is VERY WHOA DARK. I loved it.
I’ve read all of this author’s work & I love her writing, her plots, her characters because I become invested in them all & wonderfully enthralled to the point I forget I am reading a book. This one is no different in that respect. Yet, while her books can be delightfully kinky & deliciously twisted, they are rarely dark.
But this one? GAH!!!
This one is saturated with, dripping with, flooded by, oozing with, pure unadulterated EVIL.
The EVIL that humans perpetrate on others they lust to prey on with gleeful, heinous depravity. And they always ensure their victims are too small, too young, too weak, too controlled & contained to even attempt to fight back or offer physical resistance.
This story instilled me with rare feelings of wrath, anger & even rage at the evil done to the 2 main characters: ‘Dolly’ & ‘Kendoll’. Nothing (in real life) so fans the flame of my anger as abuse of others. Nothing.
So right there, the depth of my feelings tells me just how intensely I was drawn into this one & how I empathized/sympathized with Dolly & Kendoll. My jaw was clenched for almost all of the first part of the story & despite the horrors exposed with the turning of each page, I did keep turning the pages because HOPE that SOMEHOW Dolly & Kendoll would perservere kept me doing so.
And sometimes, sometimes, EVIL gets its’ just desserts . . . .
This IMO is a superlative example of writing, of dragging the reader into a black hole of evil, darkness, depravity, betrayal, retribution, rage, of stellar character development, of plotting, of keeping the reader enthralled, engrossed & on tenterhooks. I would not have missed reading this one for anything.
Be very, VERY sure you are able to take pitch black dark before reading this one. BUT, if you take the dare, I cannot imagine you will regret you did so.
Ms. Stone, this one is STELLAR!
Definitely not what I expected from this sweet, angelic author…
I may possibly be traumatized (in a good way) for life. If you thrive on dark and twisted books, you’re going to FLOVE this new release from Measha. As always, I’m not giving any spoilers away as I hate it when readers divulge book secrets in reviews, so mum is the word, but boy, if you dare to pick up Dolly, prepare yourself for a dark, depraved ride….
If you’re easily offended, squeamish, sensitive, do not read this book!
Dolly is exactly what the name says. A doll to be played with, to mistreat, to torture and maim without caring if she survives this ordeal or not.
Ms Stone has written a harrowing story here, one that takes aim at your gut and lets loose one kick after the other!
Until another victim of those animals is dumped in the cell right next to hers.
From then on the direction of this tale changes drastically.
And my little murderous heart began to sing!
They had it coming! All of them! And more!
The premise of this one isn’t totally unique, but is one I love and generally pick up to see how the author does their take on it. I will admit, I love Measha’s! This is only my second book by this author, and I will for sure be checking out more.
The progression of this one is fantastic, never gets slow and keeps your turning the pages. The characters are likeable and keep you rooting for them.
4.5 stars, great read that I would recommend for any dark lovers.
