This book is beyond gruesome. Think hostel meets Hannibal Lector but in a small college city. I read it in a day.
Creeped me out, but I could not stop reading. Would read it again when I feel like getting freaked out of mind.
Amazingly written!
Liked the way how she overcame her fear and got even!
I never read a book like this and that’s a good thing. Well written.
This book kept my interest, characters were developed and I was surprised with the ending.
A very well written story of extreme terror, I am a Stephen King fan and rarely find any writing that lives up to the standard he sets, but this comes very close. The characters seem very real and easy to feel for. There is hardly a slow moment anywhere in the entire story, and the tale is not at all predictable. It is basically a who-dun-it, so I won’t give any spoilers. There did seem to be a slight falling off of the editing/proof-reading in one of the later chapters, but nothing that hurt the read.
Doll House by John Hunt.
This book comes with a warning that it is a bit gruesome and to be honest if this was a film I would probably avoid, afraid that it would be too gory. However, the writer has a way of drawing you into the story until you are unable to put it down.
The main character, Olivia, is abducted and kept as a prisoner by two men whose faces she never sees and one of them who never speaks. When she escapes, one of these two men is determined to get her back.
The writer has a way of building up the tension as you read. You know that her abductor is twisted enough to try and take her again so everyone she meets in the book, either old acquaintances or new, has you freaking out that Olivia is in his company again.
I was totally hooked by this intense psychological thriller and I’m not surprised this novel has got so many good reviews.
Hard to stop reading. I wanted to know!
There are a lot of jokes in this book but I Still really enjoyed it ! Worth a read
good read
Didn’t want to put it down. Had to know what was going to happen ASAP. Was wishing I was a faster reader. Good characters with good explanation of emotions. Good twist at end.
Hard to put down !!! Great Read ‼
I enjoyed the book, But it was scary.
I could barely put this book down! Try and guess the bad guy… thought I had him a couple of times but was wrong. Some trigger subjects related to abuse during captivity but the author doesn’t devolve into details but certainly makes the reader feel some of the horror. Highly recommend!
We all know what’s it’s like to be excited to start a new adventure and this book delivers. Olivia is starting school an hour away from her hometown and couldn’t be more excited about it. Wanting to spend the day before orientation checking out the town and enjoying the end of summer who would’ve thought that tragedy would strike, but it does. John hunt weaves the tail of Olivia’s abduction and then sexual assault while being kept as a doll for the amusement of 2 masked men in a way that truly makes you feel for her; you feel her pain, her ups, her downs, but most of all you feel her hope and her willingness to never give up. This book is a page turner and one I didn’t want to end. A story that keeps throwing surprises at every turn, it’s like watching a crime drama not knowing where it will take you. But believe me this is a ride that you want to take, great book.
The book was a great read. Sad to think that there are monsters in the night and day. Kept you guessing until the end.
I really enjoyed this. It was a fast paced quick read that I managed to finish within a few days. A bit on the violent side at first but luckily the violence isn’t terribly detailed on every occasion.
I loved the dynamic between father and daughter but once chapter 3 hit I was getting bored very quickly. If you’re hoping for a fast-paced, intense read this isn’t the book for you.
This book was fair. Not the best read
Sickening story.
Read it in one night. Guessed who the bad guy was, but stuck with it to the end to see where it was going. Some have complained of the graphic violence and sexual content, but I didn’t find it to be anything I haven’t read before
too graphic for me
