David Rosenfelt’s Dogtripping is moving and funny account of a cross-country move from California to Maine, and the beginnings of a dog rescue foundation When mystery writer David Rosenfelt and his family moved from Southern California to Maine, he thought he had prepared for everything. They had mapped the route, brought three GPSs for backup, as well as refrigerators full of food, and stoves … food, and stoves and microwaves on which to cook them. But traveling with twenty-five dogs turned out to be a bigger ordeal than he anticipated, despite the RVs, the extra kibble, volunteers (including a few readers), and camping equipment. Rosenfelt recounts the adventure of moving his animal companions across the United States with humor and warmth, and tells the tale of how he and his wife became passionate foster parents for rescue dogs, culminating in the creation of the Tara Foundation and successfully placing several thousand dogs with loving families.

From one of my favorite authors for his Andy Carpenter series, this is a true story of David and his wife ,Debbie’s trip from Southern California to the East Coast with about 25 dogs . They are BIG into rescue! Read about how his fans contributed from ideas to joining in the caravan in motor homes to transport dogs. This is a quick read, lots of humor and definitely some heart warming surprising results.
Great book
My favorite author. This is a true story. His fiction is the best too. If you like dogs or animals you will love this adventure. Im only sorry his books end. I am always anxiously awaiting his next book.
A must read.
great read, bought paper copy for a friend.
If they can drive cross-country w/37 dogs I can certainly travel with one yappy Pomeranian from Lewes, DE to Cape Cod!
Real dog people here.
If you are an animal lover and enjoy some tongue and cheek humor, you will really like this book. Short chapters. An easy read.
Typical Rosenfelt humor but certainly not his best work. The book dragged on mostly.
Great true story from one of my favorite authors. I am a dog lover and enjoyed the story about each of their rescue dogs and their move with I think it was 27 dogs. He had some words of wisdom as well.
I enjoyed this book so much. I laughed out loud as I read it. I’ve already recommended this book to my friends.
I enjoyed it as I often read David Rosenfelt’s Detective Mysteries. Loved seeing where some of the writing came from!
Im a dog lover and the stories about each dog are funny and relatable.
Well-written. Funny. Sad. Great story with very admirable people.
Hard to imagine anyone traveling cross country with at least 25 dogs
Great, funny book especially if you love dogs.
Fun read. I’m actually in the middle of it at this point but I’ve heard more than enough to know that I I’m enjoying it. Great read for anyone who is a dog lover, and most especially for anyone who is at all interested in dog rescue. There are so sad stories but
Loved the writing. Humorous but he doesn’t try really hard to be funny. Just more like observation which I love
I have such admiration for people who give everything they have to care for animals! Their cross-country move was quite an adventure and I only wish I could have joined them. Very well written!
I wish there were more people like this in the world it would be a better place for humans and animals alike
An amazing story!
