When it comes to doggy style, he’s behind you 100%. Preston Evans is a legend in and out of the bedroom. He’s six feet two, gorgeous, and famous because his celebrity ex leaked a video of him doing her doggy style. Even worse, to capitalize on his infamy, he opened a puppy store called Doggy Style. I don’t care if his abs are chiseled, his arms are tattooed, and his face belongs on the cover … tattooed, and his face belongs on the cover of a magazine. Every dog sold and bred means a shelter dog dead!
I chained myself to his store in protest, but instead of calling the cops, he threw me a bone.
If I help him open his puppy store, he’ll transform it into a shelter dog adoption center, saving the lives of potentially thousands of dogs. And then I will never have to see this sexy, dirty-talking jerk again. How hard can he—uh, I mean, it—be?
Sex is off the table. So why do I want him to bend me over one?

It was an amazing book to read while being very informative on dog adoption and puppy mills. As someone who is already strongly against puppy mills, I still found this to be a great powerful read.
Alana did a great job with this book. I was a little hesitant at first to read it, but I’m so glad I did. It was funny, romantic and more. I really enjoyed this and the emotions it comes with. As an animal lover, i definitely recommend this one.
Doggy Style
By: Alana Albertson
Narrated by: Dexter Collins, Elizabeth Powers
What happens when a new puppy store opens near the dog rescue? Yesenia will tell you! She will educate the new owners so they understand what their store of puppy mill selling will do to the poor dogs that need homes. When she finds out that viral porn video star Preston is one of the owners, she finds herself attracted to him more than just for his looks! Preston is a misunderstood man. Yes, he likes his women and they never say know. But Yesenia is proving to be a challenge. Will her need to change his views help out? This is a feel good story, fun in the sun, some fun dogs that will make you laugh, characters that are lovable as they trip over their own feet and a few twists to make you keep listening. I love that it handles some real issues without making you realize you are thinking about the ramifications of actions taken, and it really makes me want a dog. It’s fun, and flirty with just the right amount of steam.
Alana Albertson has a great narration team with Dexter Collins and Elizabeth Powers. These two are meant for the roles of Preston and Yesenia. Collins gives Preston that overconfidence until he doesn’t with precision. You feel him as he falls, and fall right along with him as his voice pulls you in. Powers is the perfect Yesenia. She gives her the passion in her voice for all of her causes, and makes you a believer without even trying. It’s a wonderful listen you don’t want to miss.

** spoiler alert ** Preston became famous overnight with the release of a sex tape. Yessi puts all her love into rescuing dogs from death row. He is someone she should hate. Will Yessi be able to show Preston the right way? Will Preston find out who is trying to sabotage his relationships?
Have to admit that I liked both characters in this book a lot. I loved how dedicated Yessi was and how she was determined to give animals the love that she didn’t receive. I loved watching Preston realize the truth and be determined to correct it. Great read!
Doggy Style by Alana Albertson
Seriously Enjoyable Read!
Preston Evans at first glance is a shallow fame hungry dog, but soon you realize this man is much more than his Instagram posts. Yessi is a spunky animal lover who has had a tough life and pours all her time and compassion into the animals she rescues. She has never known love, and he has lost his… Sparks fly when these two first meet, and it takes them both being willing to look deeper than the surface to realize they were made for one another.
I really enjoyed this read. Preston’s military background and PTSD symptoms in the storyline are intriguing and handled with a sense of authenticity. Yessi’s total commitment to animals is commendable, and a bit heartbreaking when you learn of her reasoning behind her passion to save them. Her sass and his sarcasm work hand in hand like a great melody and lyrics. I did find Yessi a bit unyielding in certain areas at first, and I found myself getting annoyed with her character. But she gives it some thought and she herself realizes she is being unfair and becomes willing to entertain new ideas. I really enjoyed getting to go along for the emotional ride while she figured it all out. Preston is an all-around great guy who got caught up in the “me game” and the fame of being a social media celebrity. It was his heart that had me rooting for the two of them. I also loved the animal rescue aspect to this book. Although a work of fiction, there is a lot of truth to the plight and reality of shelter dogs and the need for adoption depicted here.
I wish there had been a bit more given to explain the why and how of Hugh and his behavior… why did he treat his best friend that way? Was he jealous? Did Preston do something to turn him against him? Did he think he could get away with it? I just needed more!
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an enjoyable, light hearted read. Oh, and anyone who is an animal lover will adore this book!
Preston’s a former Marine who’s using his notoriety to open a dog store, specifically selling puppies that come from breeders. His claim to fame comes from a sex tape leaked (he thinks by his famous ex) that shows him using a certain, ahem, aptly named dog position. He’s a player and a commitment phobe but he’s got a good heart. Yessi is the opposite of Preston. She’s a former tattoo artist who runs a dog rescue and she’s spitting mad when she finds out he’s opening a store that will only sell dogs that come from a puppy mill (dog breeder). So handcuffing herself to his store seems like just the thing to do. And actually it is, because it gives Preston an idea to use her to help him convince an investor he needs for his new store. That they’re madly attracted to each other is just some delicious icing on an already convenient cake of a situation.
Neither counted on that attraction leading into actual feelings, though. And can these two really manage a relationship anyway? When he’s a manwhore (or possibly reformed) and she’s slow to trust? When it seems someone has it out for them?
I mostly enjoyed Doggy Style. I have to say, though, that it’s not really the rom com that I thought it would be. For one, it’s not really funny, although it is kinda fluffy in that their relationship isn’t exactly that deep or anything. There’s a lot of insta-lust going on, and I didn’t really believe they loved each other, although I do think they were heading in that direction and will probably get there at some point. And the whole dog rescue thing was definitely not funny or fluffy. It’s a pretty heavy subject, actually, one that I enjoyed reading about, as I’m a huge advocate for only adopting rescued pets. I did like Doggy Style, so I hope I didn’t give the wrong impression, I just didn’t love it and it wasn’t the fluffy rom com I was expecting. It is well-written, though, and I liked Preston and Yessi, Yessi to a lesser extent, though. I will probably continue with the series and hope it’s as entertaining as Doggy Style is.
Yesenia “Yessi” Cordova has a big kind heart. She’s like those special people I see on Animal Planet. Her situation, sad to say, is true. So be careful if you have a soft spot for animals. Yessi needs someone like Jackson Galaxy to come to her rescue. Or in her case maybe even Tia Torres. She’s one of the unsung heroes we don’t hear about.
Preston Evans is trying to turn a bad situation into something positive. He has a friend, Hugh, who I’m not sure I like very much. He’s all about the bottom line and not about the animals themselves. One thing I think the author does well is have Preston voice his misconception of shelters. He has me wondering if a lot of people out there feel the same. I was happy to see that this piece of fiction was based on real life experience.
This is a great foil for getting the word out about pet adoption. If you’re good at donating to charities, why not donate to your local shelter – also, check out the Afterword. I did get some giggles out of the story but no real belly laughs. The story stands on its own so I had no issue with the lack of any real laughs. I was more interested with our main characters with the dogs firmly in the middle. Of course when they took a trip I wished that I could have fit in their suitcase.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
This was a sexy romantic comedy which also brought needed attention to the plight of rescue/shelter animals. I could not relate to Yessi much, she was too preachy and rigid and did not tolerate any opinions that did not match her own. Preston was more relatable though he came across as very naive. I do look forward to reading the rest of this series.
Doggy Style by Alana Albertson follows the story of Yessenia (Yessi), a vegan animal activist who helps run a dog rescue and Preston Evans, an Instagram celebrity, former military man who has recently decided to open a boutique pet store. Yessi and Preston meet when she handcuffs herself to Preston’s new store in protest of the sale of bred dogs. From first meeting, Preston is physically attracted to Yessi, who also struggles with her attraction to the “enemy.” Preston recognizes the value in befriending and using Yessi, the pet rescuer, to bring attention to his store. He entices her with a trip to a pet convention in Hawaii. His goal is two-fold: (1) get her in bed and (2) use her influence. What he comes to find is a woman who matches him well.
This is my second Alana Albertson book, and she has a way of offering interesting storylines. This book appears to be the first of a proposed series related to the employees of the dog rescue, and I think she has found an important focus for her book, pet rescue. There were times, however, in the story when I thought she had too many angles: pet rescue, the fallout of being a foster child, Preston’s daddy issues, and fame/celebrity. Since there were so many different ideas, the only one that seemed the most fleshed out was the one relating to pet rescue. I would have liked her to edit out some of the other ideas or write a longer book that developed all the angles of the story better.
Preston and Yessi clearly have chemistry, and they connect sexually fairly early in the story, given that they are set up as enemies. I thought they might have struggled against each other a bit more. For all of her virtues, Yessi gives into Preston fairly quick, and I was disappointed that she did not wait a bit longer. Even more, Preston falls for Yessi a bit too fast. He matured from being a “horn dog” about her to someone who respected her values and connected to her emotionally and spiritually in the span of a couple of chapters. I simply felt short-changed by a lack of character development.
Overall, it’s a cute, quick read. However, it needs a bit more editing of story ideas or more development of those story ideas and the characters
This is a love story with a message. To some, that might take away from the story but I felt like it helped me to understand Yessi better. There was a lot of moments that made me laugh….the name of the rescue(Pugs N Roses) was the best! I can’t wait to read the other books in this new series.
*I received an Advance Reader’s Copy of this via Hidden Gems which I am voluntarily reviewing*
What a great book! Hilarious, cute, and steamy all in one. I love it. ^_^
If the cover doesn’t melt your heart then I don’t know what will……look at Gidget! !!
Then maybe the fact that this was a fun, quirky, heartwrenching and totally sweet book to read.
I loved the characters – both hooman and doggy – and I loved the storyline.
I found it a joy with a nice and easy style to read. I didn’t put it down and it would be perfect to read over your lunch break or when you want to put your feet up – after you’ve let the dogs do their business and had a scratch behind their ears, of course!
I’m delighted to see that there is a sequel to this book so I know what I’ll be reading tonight!

A very informative short story that enlightened this reader about rescue animals and shelter adoptions. The romance was quite good as well. Original story line with quite a few elements so as to make this a very lively tale (tail, doggy, that is). The characterizations were very good, well developed, had depth and were believable. There were also some very sensual scenes between the two main male and female characters. Enjoyable read.
This reader is new to this author and would read Ms. Albertson’s work again.
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this short story via HG ARC Readers and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
This book so fun to read, is well writ and has a great plot. Who doesn’t like humour, suspense drama and love with cute cuddly dogs thrown into the mix?
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book for Hidden Gems
Caution: Don’t read this book if you’re a puppy mill breeder!
I’m a lifetime owner/advocate of shelter and rescue pets, and this book really hit me square in the heart. The message of reducing the number of animals killed because they’re homeless is directly, yet gently, delivered as we get to know Yessi, a rescue volunteer who isn’t afraid to feel empathy for at-risk dogs and won’t let anything stand in her way to save as many as she can.
Preston is opening a pet store mostly because it seems like a good business plan and it capitalizes on his recent notoriety. But when he meets Yessi as she handcuffs herself to his store and challenges him to run a more ethical business, he realizes that he’s got a lot more to learn about the pet adoption business and she’s just the one to teach him.
These two have chemistry in spades, and despite their apparently opposite lifestyles they really do have a lot in common. This is a story of transformations, as Yessi puts the Doggy Style shop on a better business track while she also learns that not every enemy is a true enemy and Preston learns that his need for a simple life isn’t such a far-fetched dream.
Even the dogs featured in this story get their HEA, and it’s superior writing that makes us genuinely care about fictional dogs in the first place. Yessi and Preston are really great together, and I truly enjoyed this romance. There were a couple loose ends that were left dangling, but nothing that detracts from the focus of the story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Doggy Style by Alana Albertson is book One in the Must Love Dogs series. This is the story of Preston Evans and Yessenia Cordova.
This was a cute romance. Preston needs help getting an investor that he strikes a bargain with Yessenia that if she helps him secure the deal that he will change his pet store ways. But neither counted on the feeling that this time would bring them too.
I enjoyed this book. The background story of pets touches the heart for sure.
