Turning a hobby farm into a quaint country inn is a piece of cake compared to solving a murder.
Ivy Galloway may not know an alpaca from a llama, but nothing’s going to stop her from pursuing her dream of opening a farm-themed inn in her hometown of Clover Grove. Not after what she went through to rescue Keats, her brilliant border collie, and flee the big city.
When Keats finds a body pushing … Keats finds a body pushing up daisies in her rye field, however, the murder puts a blight on Ivy’s plans to welcome her first official guests in just three weeks. The police chief refuses to rush his investigation. Does he really believe she’s a suspect or is he just holding a grudge over what happened in high school?
To clear her name, Ivy starts digging up clues. The former HR exec is no stranger to interviewing, and Keats is a dog who loves a job. As she juggles sleuthing with getting the inn ready to launch, she almost reaches the end of her tether. With her beloved farm’s very future on the line can she solve the case before the killer comes after her next?
Dogcatcher in the Rye is perfect for animal-lovers, and anyone who likes curling up with a fun, fast-paced cozy mystery.

Laugh out loud funny
I love this series, I have read everyone and preordered the next. The characters are great and I haven’t figured out “who done it” yet.
This book is about a woman who finds the body of the dogcatcher on her property. She gets involved because she wants to open a hobby farm retreat and wants to solve the crime so she can go ahead with her business plans.
Loved it.
It was quite amusing. I would happily read another book by this author.
This book was an interesting story and I couldn’t wait to find out who the killer was.
I really enjoy this series. The author writes well and creates interesting characters. The plots are unique. The timeline is a bit short between books. It might be more believable if weeks or months passed between murders. Otherwise it’s a great read.
Come on – With a title like that????
This was a free book so yeah why not try it. Well I will be reading the other books in this series (yep will pay for them).
Thank you Ellen RIggs for sharing your talent.
I really enjoyed this book. I will read this author again.
I really enjoyed it!
Great read, couldn’t put it down!
Such a fun book! So much so that I signed up for emails from the author – something I almost never do, even though reading is my favorite hobby!
Very entertaining cozy mystery! Very enjoyable.
light story with cute dog.
I absolutely love her and her books
This cozy mystery is written with the general formula that almost cozy mysteries use, but it was fun to read and I am sure I will buy and read the rest of the series.
Great book. Very smart and entertaining dog.
Great beginning of series. Be sure to read the prequel too.
I really, really liked this book, especially the dog Keats, who was almost human, and was the star of the book. The reason for fewer stars is that this is really not book 1. In my opinion, the prequel “A Dog with Two Tales” is a mandatory read because there are constant references to it throughout this book. At the end of book 1 it is offered for free but it was too little too late and was not free any longer. There was also no way I could find to contact the author. However, I would definitely read other books by this author because the writing was excellent.
It was a fun read. I enjoyed it!
