Review:
The characters are well rounded and well developed. Ivy is a hard working smart lady who is so excited to be running a farm themed inn, and she will do anything she can to be sure that it is a success. Even if that includes finding a killer. Between her and her dog, Keats, she is determined to find that killer and bring him to justice.
The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions kept me engaged throughout the entire book. The mystery was well plotted and there were enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider. I was not completely sure who the killer was until the reveal.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I really like this series and I cannot wait to read the next one in the series.
A good series starter!
Ivy Galloway returned to her hometown of Clover Grove with the goal of starting a farm-themed B&B. Clover Grove has changed since Ivy left. Instead of being regarded as a hometown girl, it is almost as if they resent her for starting the inn and when she finds a corpse in her field she is considered a likely suspect. If Ivy wants to get her business off the ground she needs to solve the murder with the help of her devoted Border Collie.
This is a well-written cozy mystery. The storyline has interesting twists and a possibility of future romance in the series. Anyone who likes dogs will fall in love with Keats as I did. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. It had a little romance, a little action, an interesting mystery and a cute dog. It also contained no profanity. A great mix!
Good story
A few days ago, I stumbled upon this book on my Kindle Unlimited feed. I decided to check it out. Now, usually I love cozy mystery’s. I finished this book in two days, Ivy and Keats are the perfect pair. I the characters and animals! Ivy is a Middle aged woman who just left a big city job to start a farmhouse inn. Only problem is, a man was murdered on her property within her first week. Will she be able to solve the crime and keep her inn afloat? 100% recommend to everyone!
*****EDIT*******
Now that I am on book 5, I realize that I should have read book 0. Don’t make my mistake, and find out how Ivy and Keats met! (Will probably read once I finish the series)
Ivy Galloway has just quit her executive job to start a hobby farm–inn in her hometown of Glover Grove. She has just three weeks to get ready when her Border Collie–Keats unearths a body of the local dogcatcher on the farm. Ivy had an argument that very morning and is at the top of lists of suspects. The author skillfully introduces several suspects all with a motive. But you won’t believe who actually did it.
I always enjoy a good mystery.
Well written with good character development. Hope to read more books by the author.
This book kept mentioning Ivy rescuing Keats and other previous events. It seems this first book of the series isn’t the first. While I did like this book it needs to be read in order.
This story of Ivy, Keats, Jillian and Runaway Farm is a great book. Ivy rescued Keats for a guy who was mistreating him. Now they live together on the Runaway Farm with is a Hobby Farm with a soon to be Bed & Breakfast. But things are not going as planed. First Keats is accused of chasing the neighbors chickens and Ivy gets find, then someone let the pig out of her pen. So who is causing problems to make Ivy loose the farm. After the town’s bullying dogcatcher turns up dead in one of the her fields, she becomes a person of interest. Keats plays a leading role in keeping her safe as Ivy soon becomes a murder target. Good start to a new series!
I really enjoy this series–fun to read!
Great book
I include whimsical because of her dog, Keats, who provides “advice” by his reaction to a person, and she regularly questions him on matters. So they are somewhat a team, but in a basically realistic way. The storyline was interesting as were the characters (with moderate development) and the book was entertaining. Also with a “G” rating which is another quality I look for in a book. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
Totally loved this book
Loved this book, read the others in the series- couldn’t put any of them down! Housework suffered, pets enjoyed sitting on me while I was in place so long. Win for all, actually.
Ok. Not very suspenseful.
A very nice cozy. The ending was a bit much, can’t complain specifically without giving too much away. Still, I recommend the book and I’ll read the next in the series. It’s a good read.
Cute fun read thanks to the amazing dog.
love this series!
Really kept me in the dark, while enjoying the interesting characters and the main character’s previous and current interactions with them. Really enjoyed her relationship with her pup, and his ability to communicate – which I witness first hand with my own dog. Look forward to reading more in the series!
