The first book of the New York Times bestselling Chet and Bernie mystery series, an “enchanting one-of-a-kind novel” (Stephen King) that is “nothing short of masterful” (Los Angeles Times).Chet, the wise and lovable canine narrator of Dog on It, and Bernie, a down-on-his-luck private investigator, are quick to take a new case involving a frantic mother searching for her teenage daughter. This … searching for her teenage daughter. This well-behaved and gifted student may or may not have been kidnapped, but she has definitely gotten mixed up with some very unsavory characters. With Chet’s highly trained nose leading the way, their hunt for clues takes them into the desert to biker bars and other exotic locales—until the bad guys try to turn the tables and the resourceful duo lands in the paws of peril. Spencer Quinn’s irresistible mystery kicks off a delightful new series that will have readers panting for more.

I didn’t know what to expect with this book but it was hilarious! Any dog lover would see their own dog in Chet over and over again. Great read but no highbrow stuff here! I had to go on and read the next book in the series already.
If you like dogs and want some quick light reading, this is a fun choice.
A girl who may or may not be kidnapped, a dog and his human.
I picked up this book because I thought the idea of a mystery from the perspective of the dog might be fun. In that respect, it was. The dog’s point of view is certainly different than that of the human and I liked how the author wove that into the story.
I have to say, though, that …
It was fun having a dog as the narrator!
Read all his books in this series.
Creative approach. Entertaining!
As a dog person, I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one in the series.
I love Cher and Bernie – it is a sweet dynamic – I love mysteries and it’s fun seeing it from the dog’s perspective

Loved this book. Will definitely read more of Spencer Quinn.
He’s good at his genre.
A mystery told from the PI’s dog’s point of view, this book is laugh out loud funny! Anyone who owns a dog will enjoy Chet’s view of the world and his frustrations in trying to communicate with humans.
A perfect read during these times of stress and uncertainty!
Loved it!
Very clever series, makes me laugh and we all know laughter is the best medicine.
We have two Elder dogs, who are dearly loved. So now am wondering what they are thinking. Mostly about treats and a rub. This series is such fun. Great escape. Am listening to one and reading another and so enjoying.
It is obvious that Quinn is a careful observer of dogs. Chet, his canine main character spins a good story and captures the joy for living embraced by dogs To quote Chet, Is life great or what?
I am on the third book of this series and love the characters! It is fun reading and very entertaining! I am glad there are several in this series because I don’t want them to end!
I just love the interaction of Bernie, the PI, and his loyal and intelligent partner, Chet, the dog. The story is often told from Chet’s point of view. If you love dogs and mysteries, this writer if for you!
Enjoyed this book. Look forward to the next
Lol:) What a great story! Seriously, who doesn’t love a story about a crime fighting PI and his four legged partner? As a long time dog mama, I’m a huge sucker for doggie stories. Will definitely be continuing with the series to read more about Bernie and Chet’s shenanigans.
